A headstrong young woman and a broken circus jaguar form an incredible bond that will change their lives forever. When Jane Ripley flees to a remote wildlife refuge to escape her past, the last thing she's looking for is more trouble. But a growing obsession to free a rescued circus jaguar leads her on a perilous journey deep into the Amazon.
And though the troubled volunteer she's fallen for urges her to turn back, the determined woman can't give up on the noble animal she's vowed to save. As emotional wounds from her past are reopened, Jane is forced to confront the truth behind her obsession.
But with danger closing in and time running out, can she finally do what's right for the jaguar and for herself?
great debut... the last book i read with similar themes might be michael morpurgo's running wild, and it's books like these that really take me out of everyday life and get me thinking about wildlife and it's importance. again, good read, got a little slow for me personally around the middle, but picked back up as new things were constantly happening, there was a good pace, and the unanswered questions about the protagonist keep the reader hooked.
