Things are beginning to really getting interesting! Joyce & McKenna go looking for some clues that might help Ellie remember her left & come back to the present, not the past. Then they find some journals that Ellie wrote. They divide the journals up & each plan to read half of them to see what they can find out about the past so they know where she is at now in her life & what is going on at that time. Ellie is living in the past & she thinks her niece is her sister, “Macey” and they let her believe that so she won’t get further upset. She had a moment where she remembered things & when she got to the part about Joyce’s parents being dead she blamed herself. She said it was her fault they died & then she lost it. When she came around again she remembered nothing. Ellie wanted to go out for awhile & insisted on going to getting her clothes at the cleaners. Joyce told her she couldn’t because things had changed a lot since she had been to town. She finally talked Joyce into letting her ride with her to get them. They were talking about McKenna & Ellie said there she is. Joyce got out & told Ellie to stay there & don’t get out. Joyce went across the street to talk to McKenna. McKenna had beer in her hands & her friends had beer & cigarettes. Joyce ask her what she was doing, of course she gets an attitude & doesn’t want to talk about it, now or at home. Her & her friends leave. When McKenna gets home she goes straight to her room. Joyce goes up & tries to talk with her but she won’t talk to her.. Atfer Ellie gets settled down Joyce tell her she is going out for awhile. Everything was going pretty good, but didn’t turn about too good when she got home. What is going on with McKenna & what is she planning? Does she want Joyce help or not or is she just using her? What a cliffhanger!

I got this ARC book for free & I am giving my review for free in my own words.

Ellie still hasn’t recovered her memory and believe Joyce is her sister. McKenna is going through teenage issues, skipping school and being placed on Academic Probation.

Joyce wants a night away and heads to the local saloon. She meets up with local school teacher David. The pair spends time sharing information about their past. A tender moment at the door is interrupted by a furious McKenna. Ultimatums are issued as the book comes to an end.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

Kenna is pulling the true teenager, ugly and spoiled brat routine. She wants life her way and she has disrupted Joyce's life without a second thought, just so she can proceed forward. She has been ditching high school classes, grades are now failing and her attitude is bad. She has just verbally blown up on Dave and Joyce and am looking forward to seeing their reactions to her indignant attitude.

Received an early copy for my honest and voluntary review.

This is a good series. The characters mesh well. This story has drama, trials, unknowns, finding of self. Good read. Can’t wait to read the next book. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author and I am freely leaving my review.

No looking Back

This was an interesting story. Somehow I missed one and two of this story. Sounds like to me this McKenna needs a smacking on her bottom, talking to a Family member like she did. More to come, I assume.

Good Read

A lot has been revealed in the third book. Plenty of emotional rollercoasters and issues. Looking forward to book four to see what happens.

Book 3. What can I say? This story is going in a direction I didn’t expect. Not that I really expected a specific direction to begin with. Joyce finds herself taking her Aunt Ellie around town to run some errands. She didn’t expect to find McKenna skipping school with some friends while drinking and smoking. It’s not something you’d typically find a good student doing.

Joyce needed a break so she went on a walk. The town is small, so it didn’t take long for her to stumble upon a bar. Little did she know she’d run into David there. They end up talking and sharing and having a couple beers. It takes hours before she winds up walking home only to find McKenna super upset that she’s been gone and didn’t tell anyone where she was going.

Ellie is starting to remember things, but nothing that sticks long. Their past slowly gets revealed in pieces. Maybe someday Joyce will figure out why her mother never spoke about her family.

This book was a bit more realistic with Joyce going to a bar and hanging out with David for a while. They made great conversation and is slowly figuring out her family’s past. This book deserves 5 out of 5 tiaras.
