In 1947 Chuck Williams arrived in Sonoma, CA with the idea of building homes—first as a contractor, later as the owner of a hardware shop and finally as the founder of the first Williams-Sonoma store for cooks. Half a century later that small cookware shop has evolved into a multi-billion dollar retailing leader whose products encompass every room in the home.
I haven't actually read this whole thing, but it's more of a reference, plus some very interesting chapters on wine history, regions, varietals, winemaking techniques...lots of good and informative nuggets for an ignoramus like me. Learning about how they make champagne kind of blew my mind. Who figures this stuff out?
As an oenophile, this guide further added to my growing collection of wine books. This guide goes into depth about the various kinds of wines and when each one is appropriate for whatever occasion. Definitely a good book to have when preparing for company.
