The Orphans has never been a walk in the park. But one thing that the original crew has never had very often is hope. Shaun is back now along with some new friends from Chicago. The chance for retaliation against The Turned is finally here!
Mike Evans lives in Iowa with his wife, children, and two adopted dogs Rusty and Harley Quinn. He writes with a passion to bring his characters to life, to make you fall in love with them, and then make you flip pages to find out if they’ll survive or perish. He keeps his characters realistic, there are no superheroes. There are no perfect characters in his books, everyone has their flaws much like that of life. Mike loves to write in different genres and is unafraid to try something new.
Well, the band is back together and playing new tunes! Shaun, Greg, Ellie, Kya and Joey all have new instruments and are looking to finish this concert with dead-again zombies on stage. Clary isn't real happy with all the newcomers, but he's okay with what they brought - a cure!
I'm glad most of my friends made it this far, and that Shaun brought the CDC group with him. A little bit rough on the reunion, but old feelings die hard. The characters are amazing and our new redneck pal is definitely a thorn in Clary's ass. Some of Earl's witicisms are pure corn, but some are dangerously near to inspiration. Yassa and Earl are bound to be friends. This storyline is amazing and the action is inspired! Moving on now to the next book in the series and I can't wait to see how this turns out!
I'm so happy to have the gang back together and I just love Joey. Shaun has returned to the base and his friends along with other survivors who may actually have a way to get rid of The Turned for good but of course you know things are not going to go to plan. Happy to have a new book in The Orphans series. I highly recommend this series if you love the horror/zombie genres.
I have waited a long time for this book and I am so happy that Mike Evans didn't let me down! It was awesome but too short 😊. Shaun, Greg, Ellie and Clary are back together again where they belong. Please don't take as long on the next one. If you guys and gals, haven't read this series, then you don't know what you're missing.
Great to get back to this series. This is my favorite group of characters by Mike Evans. When Shawn returns with a new hope against the zombies infesting the world our characters once again set out to put a plan in motion. As usual things don't go strictly to plan. Plenty of action keeps this story moving at a fast pace. Great read from beginning to end.
Orphans by Mike Evans is one of my favorite series and Orphans 8 Retaliation did not disappoint. Shaun comes back and has a way to deal the Turned. As he takes of to test it out, Ellie takes off with others to get ingredients at a local collage. Follow along as both groups find trouble. If you have never read and Orphans book, I highly suggest you start with Book 1. You will be hooked.
The Orphans is a fantastic series. Each book is packed with excitement and nail biting moments, and Retaliation is no exception. You'll be laughing and crying throughout the book. I finished this late at night, but I had to start the next one. Join Shaun, Ellie , Greg and Clary, you won't be disappointed.
I love these books. The characters are amazing. I just wish that every time they went on a scavenging mission that one of the people who are such good assets stop dying. Exchanging players are fine but come on Yassa. He would have been a major asset to keep. But I love the story period. I can’t stop reading.
Love to read and love zombie books. Fell in love with and read all Zombies On The Block series so had to read the Orphans series. Very entertaining and captivating. Have recommended to family.
Now that the crew has a glimpse of hope, things go to shit... again! Mike Evans has done it again! He has taken what I thought would be a good series and made it great. Each book leaves you wanting more.
We have to keep meeting new people because so many keep getting killed by the Turned! Just when I was getting to sort of like Yassa… But now there looks like hope to start taking putting the Turned down a a large scale…if they can get the ingredients without dying!
Way past overdue. It feels like a reallllly long time passed between Book 7 & Book 8. I had to spend a lot of time going back & sorting out what was going on in this particular series.
