James is living the life he always wanted. He has his own rustic cabin in the countryside, peace, quiet, and some lovely companions to share his joy with.
But there is much left to do! James will need to expand his cabin to make it more comfortable for his — ahem — lady friends. Also, harvest is coming up for the redheaded farm girl, and she might need a hand or two around the farm…
Luckily, magic can help. James has plenty of arcane exploration to do, and with the help of some of the forest’s mysterious but friendly inhabitants, he might even pick up the art of enchanting!
With a magically talented cat girl at his side, and a skittish fox girl peeking in on the regular, James will have his hands full.
Note: This slice of life story contains graphic scenes of intimacy and unconventional relationships centered on the male main character. Also contains cat girls, fox girls, deer girls, and dragonkin.
This is absolutely one of my favorites series. I love the progression and the speed of the writing. I love to put in my ear buds and listen to it while I work, although alexa isn't the best at reading because she can be a little bland, but that does nothing against the awesomeness of this series. I can't wait for the next one, I'm anxious for Hind to join the family too and find out what the red eyes are. Thanks for this and I truly enjoy it!
I have tried but now giving up after book two. Worst bit of harem lit I've discovered so far. The females are one dimensional, whatever species they are. The text is repetitive...I really have had enough of "Plump lips and Daisy Dixies". The magic system is rubbish and there is no danger of threat. I felt like I was reading someone's very personnel fantasy. The only action in two books was construction of a workshop zzzz. The intimate parts of the story I just sped over because of the repetition. I hope the authors skill matures.
Well, I enjoyed this book right up until the very end. I think James made a very big mistake… he’s gotten way too big for his britches. He lacks respect. He has forgotten the things that Lucy has done for him… he’s forgotten how stressed she’s been and hasn’t given her any attention or comfort at all. But he’s been spending a lot of time building new bridges with new women….which is fine if your don’t forget your origins… also, what went down with Kesha was plain and simply wrong… the man is gigolo that can’t keep his pants on… he disrespected Lucy in such a major way. I don’t know if they will recover (let’s face it, they most likely will) but this guy needs to learn respect. He already has quite the harem. He could have easily offered her a place to stay without “cake” being on the menu until Lucy was properly read in. But nope, now he needs to explain he not only has feelings for Kesha well she’s apart of his harem and while he’s been ignoring her he’s been romping with the daughter. This one disappointed me. That’s why I took off stars. So let’s see how James pulls his boots out his mouth and his rear. Onwards lads
For the most part well done, though I was really surprised when James helped harvest potatoes, but later never even offered to help clean Corinne's farmhouse with his magic. And animal tail are not just hair, there's a limb the hair connects to. When the author wrote he grabbed her tail and wrapped it around his hand? Yikes! You can do that with hair on the head, but the fox a girl should have been screaming in agony! Simple anatomy, even in a fantasy tale (tail). Building house extensions without a stone or cement foundation? Also, yikes! Water damage, earth settling and shifting, and more problems.
Mostly a slow-burning base-building and adding to the harem.
Stopped reading at the half point. The story is very repetitive and doesn't have any threat or real force pushing the character to do more than Meet Girl->Talk with Girl->Girl fall in Love head over heels with MC->Adult Scene->Learn a household spell or some unimportant lore and rinse and repeat with a few variations and a new girl once in a while
I like the setting and the author could have done so much more with it. Maybe they do in later books, but after 1.5 books without any compelling element I will not be continuing this series.
James is a High Mage. He enjoys his quiet lifestyle at his cabin, although he wants to magically improve creature comforts such as refrigeration and showers for the women in his life. Magical beings seem drawn to him, such as a fox girl and a dragon girl. I like the humor, magic system, and lust/love. I look forward to the next book.
I am enjoying the story so far I like to development theway the magic is portrayed in the story makes sense I also am enjoying the drama and the Mystery and meeting new characters. the spicy scenes are nice but I think maybe a little bit done too often other than that is an enjoyable story.
Fun romp. Nothing major bad here. Yet. Just learn high magic. Build your cottage. Collect lovely ladies. All good slice of life. No doom and gloom no major battles. Just lots of loving and hard work on everything that hmmm matters. Easy read I'll probably get more for in between other books.
So.... Book two finds MC...cutting wood again. Meeting same supporting characters...again. working on cabin...again. its a plot that you want to know what happens....but it just drags... Like its AI made for word count. Its not good. It just plods along... Most of it is not worth your time investment.
James decides to take the inheritance of the cabin in the county of Tours.
James decides after 2 weeks living in the cabin in Tours that he's going to keep the cabin for good . He's going to challenge himself to make a better life for himself than he had with his dad. Recommend reading. excellent series .
I’m loving the direction that this series is going and the development of so many wholesome relationships! The building and magic system is a favorite of mine and I hope to see more involvement in the next books. Overall, this was a great continuation and I can’t wait for more to come!
The story picks up where it left off in book one, James learn more magic to help him in his goals and he strengthens and grows his family, one sexy encounter at a time
As all.of this authors works I've read, this is a well written and edited story!!! Delightful characters abound and such an interesting concept of magic!!!! A perfect amount of adult fantasy activities are scattered throughout the story!!!!
As the MC learns more spells and abilities, and meets new and wonderful characters from town and forest, the story builds. So far, no real bad guy other than time.
What an imagination! Jack has my admiration for his wonderful imagination and ability to portray it on paper! The characters and sittings are all but alive. Thank you Jack for sharing your fantasy with me.
Our MC is moving right along. Learning more magic and adding new women to his growing family. This one moves along slowly as our MC learns more magic and how to use what he knows in new ways. Overall fun read and going to read the next.
👍I did read this book with great expectation. The action writing sometimes was slightly relaxed but it fit in well with the adjustment to country living. I really relaxed with this offering! I will be loading book 3 as soon as possible.
Terribly slow storytelling. It is the second book in the series and still almost nothing happened but lots of love and peace. It may be that I got it wrong and this is not a fantasy story with some magic in it after all. Taking a break for now, not sure if I will read the third book.
