She’s looking for Mr. Right. I can offer her Mr. Right Now.
That’s my specialty.

He’s my best friend’s older brother.
He was also my teenage crush and completely out of reach.
But we had our secrets—moments that nobody knew about.
I’d tucked them away in a safe place, and that’s where I’d planned to keep them.
He’d moved to the city, and I’d moved on.
But now he was back in Honey Mountain for a few weeks.
And he’d found endless reasons to spend time with me.
What started out as rekindling our friendship turned into a different kind of… stroking the fire.
No pun intended.
It was temporary.
Just another secret that we’d keep between us.
Ledger Dane came with an expiration date.
He’d always been one foot out the door.
Why would this time be any different?

"You were always the best part of my day when we were young."
Laura Pavlov has a different way of telling the simplest stories. They captivate you. Her characters are flawed, but pretty much perfect at the same time. As far as second-chance romance without much angst but all the feelings goes, you can't really ask for better than this.

"I think I'd loved this boy long before I even knew what it meant."
Ledger is this big-time architect working at a prestigious firm. He's not wealthy, but he's well-off. He helps his family every chance he gets because he's a good guy. Everyone can see that, but him, and that's what hurt me the most.

"All that sweetness wrapped up into the most beautiful woman I'd ever known."
Very much like her sisters, Charlie is a strong woman. Her strength comes from empathy and connection, from wanting the best for everyone. She's also the sweetest kindergarten teacher, but don't think you can thread over her, because you won't get away with it.

"Always. I never wanted you to feel like you were alone."
Charlie and Ledger were friends when they were kids. Something happened between them when they were teens, but they never really talked about it. Maybe they had a chance, but they blew it. He moved away, and Charlie got hurt, assuming she'd never get the man she'd always wanted. Ledger got hurt too, but he's too damn clueless to see her for who she really is: the one who got away.

"Me - Careful, Ladybug. I'm not the guy you want to flirt with, remember?
Ladybug - Friends can flirt.
Me - So you think I'm hot...
Ladybug - That's no secret.
Me - I think you're fucking hot too, bestie."

When Ledger comes back into town for his sister's, Charlie's best friend's, wedding, he goes right for her. They need to plan the wedding, but it's more than that. They need to rekindle their friendship, to get rid of whatever resentment pushed them apart. Neither of them expected feeling the way they do once they're finally face to face, though.
Maybe there was always more than friendship between them, and that means being just friends is going to be hard.

"Tell me I'm the best you've ever had, even before you've had me. Because you ain't seen nothing yet."
She tries to keep him away, because she knows he's the one with the power to hurt her. He tries to keep her away because he's not the man he thinks she needs. Their love for each other is all around them, but they decide not to talk about love. To just go with the flow until the wedding. To give in to what they've been longing for all this time.
After all, he'll have to leave and go back to his own life anyway, so things can't get out of hand this way. Right?

"I know I'm not the kind of guy who deserves you. But that doesn't make me want you any fucking less."
I loved them together. I loved how he's so protective of her, and she protects him right back. He's pretty much irresistible, swoony,… and hot. Charlie may not be the most experienced girl, but what he brings out of her… Damn. I will definitely be looking at boats and lakes differently.
The ‘Mine’ in the title really goes both ways, but there’s nothing simple about it.

"No one ever felt right, because I'd already found the other half of my heart when I was young."
Ledger broke my heart. He's so in love that it's heartwarming, but so adorably clueless because he thinks he's not worthy of her. Because he'll make a mistake and hurt her. Because she deserves better and someone better for her is somewhere out there. He really got to me because he is that someone better. He just can't see it.

I loved his grandmother. If I ever grow old, I want to be just like her. As always, I loved Charlie's sisters and the sisterly bond they have, and it was great to see other couples from this series too.

"Because when you finally realize that you've found your person, you want to start forever right now."
All Charlie wanted was for him to fight for her, and she thought he never did. But Ledger had been fighting for her all along.
It's finally time to hang up the gloves.

I love Laura Pavlov’s small-town charm in her ‘Honey Mountain’ series and Ledger and Charlie’s friends to lovers/best friend’s brother’s book was great!
“Sometimes, everything you want is right in front of you.”

Ledger is in town for his sister’s wedding. He wants it to be the best day possible for her. He’s such a great and devoted big brother. Without much of a dad in the picture, he’s always been there for his family… but with the fear of becoming his father, he’s never thought of a family of his own. Then there is Charlie. His sister’s best friend and that one girl that has made him feel something.

Ledger thinks he can spend time with Charlie and be with her during his time at home and then it can end, but the feels come into full force for them both. I loved these two together. The next and final book in the series is my most anticipated and I can’t wait to read it!

Idk if this can be considered a slow burn but it sure took them A LONG TIME to get officially together lmao. But it still was so freaking adorable and warmed my fucking heart!!

I love Charlie and Ledger so so soooo much, sure it was a bit frustrating how long it took for them to get together but they still made the wait worth it.

The tropes in this book were also amazing:
Best friend’s brother, right person wrong time, teenage crush, (kind of) second chance, one bed trope and friends to friends with benefits to lovers. Like that combo was freaking immaculate!! Loved every second of it. Literally had my heart aching and beating a million miles an hour.

They had so much amazing chemistry!! And the tension at the beginning was so thick, you could cut it with a knife!

Ledger is literally so freaking charming and flirty, I LOVED IT!! But besides that he was also a bit broken by the actions of his father which is why I understand why it took so long for him to get officially together with Charlie. It must’ve been a hard burden for him to live with for so long but I love how he still got love and support from his family!

Especially his nan! She literally carried their relationship on her back!! Bless her for making him realise what he was missing out on. She’s my favourite character in this book for sure lol. I loved her relationship with Ledger and also her personality. She’s literally hilarious!!

Without nan and Charlie, idk where Ledger would be now.

Charlie is such a sweet and amazing FMC!! Totally get why Ledger has been so obsessed with her since day one! She’s fun, kind, intelligent and more!! I just loved how she had this man on his goddamn knees! And how caring and understanding she was also made me love her even more!!

What I also adored was Charlie’s and Jill’s friendship! I want a best friend like that!! They were literally so cute. The way they supported one another was so endearing to read about. That is true friendship at its finest!!

Overall, this book was amazing and I’m loving this series more and more, kinda sad that it’s coming to an end soon… will definitely miss reading these books! One more book to go!

Oh my heart- yet another beautiful and sweet love story from the addictive Honey Mountain world. Simply Mine is the perfect balance of swoony moments and angst, a story brimming with feeling and all of that Laura Pavlov sincerity and charm. I simply adored this sweet couple and their journey to their HEA, and I fall more in love with this amazing gaggle of loving sisters with every passing book.

I was so excited to get sweet Charlotte’s love story. I just adore the Thomas twins - two opposites that fit so perfectly together as a duo- and Charlotte had already captured my heart as the more gentle, stoic, and thoughtful of the two sisters. I adored her sweet and heartfelt love story with her best friend’s brother Ledger. Laura gives us a story that spans ages, one full of tenderness, affection, and incredible chemistry, but also one full of so many missed opportunities and not-quite moments between these two. Despite their missed chances and a steamy moment that disrupted their friendship, I loved how easily Charlie and find their way back to one another- first as friends and then as more. So dreamy, so sweet, and so genuine.

Laura always gives us just the right balance of heart and heat- and the chemistry between these two is really adorable. Despite the distance they’ve had, I loved how honest and open they are- it makes the transitions feel so authentic and real while they’re repairing their friendship and evolving into benefits to MORE territory. The flirting, the steam, and the more tender and emotive moments all work together to build a lovely connection between these two, and I especially loved watching sweet Charlie come into her own and finally demand of Ledger what she wants and deserves. Not to mention, Ledger can be quite swoony AND we have a sassy granny and a precious kiddo from Charlotte’s school charming up the pages. It just takes a little Honey Mountain magic for these two to realize they are meant to be- that the other is the missing piece and just want they are looking for. Such a sweet and lovable story- the perfect escape. And OMG - hang on to your hats, cause I can’t to see just who can match Dylan in our next story!

Maybe the rating is too harsh but it is a "it's not you, it's me" reason.

The rythm is good so is the writing. The author has build up her characters in a small town setting and we see some of them integrated in the story.

What I disliked is the Storyline. Charlotte and Ledger were friends (his sister was her best friend), they had some intimate moments across the years but they didn't actually have sex. He left their town to study and then to work and they didn't keep a real contact for the last years.

Ledger having a real bad model from his father refuses to let anyone in but he is dating and has had many girlfriends. Of course Charlotte always loved him and has ever had 2 boyfriends. And this is what I don't like. The day he comes back for his sister's wedding he tries to explain a bit of his past to Charlotte and they agree to have a 2 week fling. He realizes that he always had feelings for Charlotte, strong feelings (yet he slept with maaany women) and In the end he proposes. Obviously he had never seen what was right in front of him or he didn't think he deserved her. Of course the ending is no so sudden and like I said the story telling keeps a good rhythm so there is a natural flow.

But I don't like this stereotype of a "lady's man" not realizing his feelings and the "woman with a golden heart" that keeps pinning for him.

The author does make a good attempt to give the character a lot of background and give him reasoning but in the end I couldn't relate, I didn't vote for them to get together as it felt so unbalanced.

And this is why the friends to lovers / second chance romance tropes are probably not for me...🤔

Pre-Order Simply Mine HERE https://geni.us/SimplyMine

“I would have been there for you.”
“I didn’t want to bring you down, Ladybug. You deserved better than me back then, and every day since. I may be a selfish man in a lot of ways, but never when it comes to you. I’ve always wanted the best for you, and I stand by that. You’re the best person I know.”
A tear ran down my cheek, and I shook my head. Because Ledger Dane was the best person I knew, even when I desperately wanted to hate him.
And he didn’t see himself the way that I did.
But I knew in that moment that I’d love him until I took my last breath.
I always had.
But nothing could ever happen between us.
I’d learned that lesson the hard way.
And I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.

5 STARS

Simply Mine has been my favorite standalone of the Honey Mountain series.

Why I loved it:
1. Great secondary cast. Nan and Darwin provided such great comedy.
2. Ledger was equal bits charismatic playboy and damaged hero. I loved him.
3. Charlotte was such a wonderful heroine, and I loved that she was the strong one who stuck to the 2 week fling plan. It was a bit of a role reversal.
4. This is the steamiest of the series, but also mild on the steam scale
5. It had amazing bits of life lessons and advice. So many lines resonated with me.

This was a wonderful read! Small town goodness.

i love this series so so much!

charlie has had a thing for her best friend’s brother forever but she shut it down when he rejected her when they were teens. he’s back in town to be the best man to her maid of honor in her best friend’s wedding and old flames come alive again but they both agree to just keep it casual… fools.

i loved this one. reformed player gets kind of tired but i like when there’s a reason behind it and ledger definitely had his reasons for keeping things casual. but he and charlie were true soulmates who understood each other through and through and i loved them sm.

sweet, spicy, small town

3.5 stars! Simply Mine is the 4th book in Laura Pavlov’s Honey Mountain series and I’ve been binging all of them on audio. This one is small town, best friend’s older brother, and friends to lovers.

Charlotte is a kindergarten teacher in Honey Mountain and her best friend’s older brother Ledger shows back up in town. He was her first crush and first kiss years ago but then moved away and became a successful architect in San Francisco. Now he’s back in Honey Mountain and he and Charlotte kick back into their old friendship. His nickname for her is “ladybug” and we get to see them falling for one another and becoming a sort of friends with benefits situation while he’s in town.

The audios have definitely helped me get through this series. Not to say they aren’t cute, cause they are and a fun low angst small town series. While I’m still determined to finish this series, I just love the author’s Cottonwood Cove series so much more.

“Sometimes, everything you want is right in front of you.”

4.5 stars

The fourth standalone in the Honey Mountain series, this is a gorgeous best-friend’s-brother, friends-to-lovers romance that is sweet and sexy and beautifully romantic. I love these characters, I love their story, and I really loved this book.

Charlotte is one of the five Thomas sisters in the series. She has had a crush on her best friend’s older brother for as long as she can remember. They were the closest of friends until things got a little heated one night, and the awkwardness from that moment led to them drifting apart. They now live in different cities and haven’t seen each other for years. But Ledger is coming home for his sister’s wedding, setting up an epic reunion.

Ledger is a successful architect, and he’s made a good life for himself in the big city. He’s happy to be back in Honey Mountain though, and he’s even happier to have the chance to catch up with his old friend, Charlie. As the only two members of the bridal party for his sister’s wedding, Ledger takes it upon himself to make up reasons for them to catch up, desperately wanting to rekindle the friendship that he misses so much.

It’s a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed seeing Ledger and Charlie find their way back to each other. There’s a clear connection between them, and an openness and honestly to their friendship that feels so natural. And there’s also attraction. It’s always been there, and now that they are back together, it’s more intense than ever, and every interaction has this flirtatious undertone that they’re both very much aware of, and that sizzles off the page. But they want different things, and a relationship between them would never work… which is why Ledger proposes a fling while he is in town.

“You’re acting completely crazy. Are you forgetting several things?”
“Such as?”
“Such as…we’re working on our friendship.”
“Fuck that. I was all for it, but now that I’ve kissed you, I want to do it again.”

Charlie has always been the ‘good girl’. She’s only had two boyfriends, she doesn’t sleep around, so she’s initially horrified by the idea of a fling with one of her best friends. But the more she thinks about it, the idea grows on her. And when her ever-supportive sisters get involved and encourage her to live a little, it’s on.

“No one’s ever made me feel the way you do. So, selfishly, I want that. I want you to show me what I’ve been missing. Make me feel alive, even if just for a few days.”

And oh damn, it’s hot!

“I’m taking my time with you tonight. I’ve waited my whole fucking life for this.”

The shift from friends to more is effortless. It’s sexy and intense, it feels right, and it rocks both of their worlds, and they relish in the opportunity to explore their mad lust for each other. But when it’s time for Ledger to leave town, letting go is not as easy as either of them anticipated.

In a simpler world, this girl would be mine.
Simply mine.
But the world wasn’t that simple.

I really enjoyed this story. It’s got the fun flirtiness, the passionate romance, and the emotion is heartfelt and beautifully written. The fact that they are so honest with each other makes the emotion all the more raw, and I truly felt for both of these characters. The storyline is no surprise, but I loved the way they handle it and the way it all plays out.

Charlie absolutely shines – firstly as the woman who is willing to take a chance, and then as a woman who stands up for herself and what she wants from her life. . And Ledger’s confusion and vulnerability made my heart ache. He is dealing with a lot, I could understand where he was coming from, and I loved seeing him deal with it all and come to terms with some pretty big realisations as he figures out what he wants.

“You are all that I want, Charlie … My life does not work without you. You are what’s been missing. What’s always been missing. Only you.”

*dreamy sigh*

The story ends beautifully, of course, with lots of happy feels and a gorgeous epilogue, and I finished this book feeling all loved-up with a big grin on my face.

Just gorgeous – 4.5 stars.

A gorgeous brother’s best friend romance that is sweet and sexy, I fell hard for these characters, and I loved their story. Charlie has had a lifelong/childhood crush on her best friend’s older brother, Ledger. And with whom she shares a secret past. But when Ledger comes home for his younger sister's wedding, a fiery attraction between them begin to blur the lines between them. When they decide to have a week of no-strings, attached fun. It is intense and all-consuming, and they give each other what they’ve been missing. But with an aversion to commitment, Ledger is so ready to push Charlie away after a week and say goodbye to what they could have. But what I loved more than anything was the real and volatile emotions that Ledger felt. On one hand, he has always loved Charlie (unbeknownst to her) throughout his life, but his fear of not being enough for her and being torn in so many directions was so powerful. The emotions he felt were so real and raw that I could not help but ache for him. Charlie and Ledger had so many obstacles and indecisions in their love sick hearts, but once they went all in, love did all the work for them. I loved how everything played out once they realised what they were willing to fight for, and the gesture at the end was totally swoony. It was an intense and swoonworthy love story that I absolutely adored.

From start to finish, this tantalising, tender-hearted tale was brimming with heat, heart, humour….and heart-stopping romance! Simply Mine brought all those sweet, swoony, and steamy moments I look for in a romance. I loved Charlie and Ledger’s story so much. The rest of Charlie’s family are a big part of the story, of course, and I loved seeing them again. The couples from previous books are still loved up and happy, and there is a great set-up for Charlie’s twin, Dylan, up next, and I seriously can’t wait to get to her book!

Ledger and Charlie almost broke me. Almost. Because they’ve had so many near misses and almost was moments that I was afraid this may not actually happen. Even though I knew it would, I still feared. And that’s the beauty of this book. They want, they love, but the fear of one may keep them from ever truly being together. It takes some hard truths, some serious thinking, and a change of mind to catch up with the heart that knew all along what the future had in store for these two.

I actually sort of love that Charlie was the one to push for discretion here. She didn’t want to hurt or feel more humiliation, or cause problems for anyone else. And even if Ledger was ready to scream from the mountaintop that she was his, he needed to decide if it was for now or for EVER. And she didn’t let him shy away from the facts. Actually, Charlie three Ledger for a loop and I loved it so much! This whole series so far has been excellent and I can’t wait for Dylan to meet her match, either. She may not have the same horrid dad drama that one did here, but I’m sure she’ll have something equally angsty and hilarious in store for us (the pills for Ledger almost made me cry laughing, so yes, there is humor here also). I think I’m ready for Dylan and then I’ll hope for more after her in this town!

* I would recommend reading the previous books, but this book can be read as a standalone.

Even though Charlotte Thomas had a crush since childhood on her BFF's brother and with some stuff happening between them years ago, the fact he is now in town for his sisters wedding does not mean anything. It is however a chance for closure and to just rekindle a friendship, as Ledger Dane always has been a guy you can lean upon. But even with all those years passing the spark and dynamic between them has not subsided and the upcoming wedding has them being closer than ever before.

Pro's:
+ The family dynamic is not as prevalent in this book as in the previous books, but it is still a heavy undercurrent in this entire story. Also, even from the MMC there was a strong family tie and the way Nan was written was just brilliant and very entertaining.
+ The romance in this book is sizzling and even though it is not really a slowburn, there is so much burning going on that I found this one of the more spicy stories in this series. I loved how the attention was solely on Charlotte and Ledger.

Con's:
- I was a bit sad there was no follow-up on the storyline with one of Charlotte's kindergartners, Darwin. Such a fun personality, but he just disappeared after his use was done. It made me a bit sad, I really like a chaotic child like that.

I did not really like the previous book in this series, but luckily this book makes more then up for it. Heartbreakingly romantic and even though it was really predictable, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I liked Charlotte and Ledger and their dynamics with their families was really fun. This book was more focused on our MC's and not so much on the families, which worked better for me storywise. Nan is the best character in the whole book, I like some crazy grandma energy. I'm really excited for the final book, as Dylan is our final sister that has to fall for her man.

Not my favorite book in this series . It was good but just didn’t have that pizzazz the others have. But Nan and Dilly had me laughing !!!
