How to buy your first home - sooner rather than later

Do the chances of buying your first home seem akin to winning the lottery? Well, don't give up because respected property and business journalist Susan Edmunds has done the hard work to show you how to get into your first home as quickly as possible.

Most of us don't have a big inheritance or limitless funds from the bank of Mum and Dad, so need help getting into a first home and navigating the many options available to the first-home buyer.

This book is packed full of up-to-date advice with lots of different topics to help you into your first home. How to make the most out of KiwiSaver when saving for a deposit. Options for help from the family. How to apply for a loan, and how to structure your loan. What to consider when buying off the plans. Is it kids versus a mortgage? The different properties worth considering, as well as less traditional buying options, such as buying with friends. From Renter to Owner is a step-by-step guide to buying your first home, no matter how daunting it may seem, and the only book you'll need to make your dreams a reality.

Want to know ways to get on the property market in Aotearoa New Zealand, this is the book to read!

I was wondering if my next big life move was to travel or look at buying a house and I can happily say this book will be so helpful when I make that decsion. It opened a door and gave me a peak into the process of buying a house and infroming me of things that I was unaware of before.

I would 100% recommend for anyone who is wanting to buy a home but isn't sure where to start, because this book is easy to read and full of great information that would definetly act as a go to guide throughout the process.

A great start for people interested in the homeownership pathway. Has some clear introductions to essential concepts but feels lacking in practical tools to make for a more tangible and personal purchase plan. The checklists were great additions, but I would have liked to see more tangible tools like these to put the concepts into practice.

Pretty much all the case studies involved people being gifted significant sums of money from family, being able to stay with family rent free in order to save, or having a partner and dual incomes to draw on. Or, just find a partner that's rich!
It's so easy when you know how.

I think I learnt maybe 3 new things about the process from this book. It did not fill me with hope.
