This is a very simple book where the text is quite perfunctory. It gets three stars because I love pictures of heavy equipment and any kid who is similarly fascinated will find the pictures mesmerizing. It is also a very short book. There could easily have been more photos; possibly detail shots of the machines or different angles. It feels like it was just slapped together. With a little more forethought and creativity this could have been a very engaging book while still sticking to what the machines do in the real world.

I used this book to target multisyllabic words. It was useful in that it helped me to recognize that my client was able to produce new multisyllabic words much more easily than I expected him to.

I also found pictures of the machines on google images and used them to make a similar take home book.
