Monsters are making themselves at home in Cider Hollow. And they're not your normal pests.
Halloween is here, and Reese finds herself with a brand-new set of problems. Her bakery is finding its feet in its new home, holiday celebrations are underway, and she keeps seeing strange creatures all around town, creatures full of mischief that no one else seems to notice. And to make things even more complicated, her wayward uncle comes to visit with a mysterious new business plan.
But Reese's holiday is only just heating up. With a big town trick-or-treat event plus a meeting with the local Fae that determines whether her boyfriend, Forrest, can stay in Cider Hollow, she's got her hands full. It's too bad the Fae think Forrest is a danger to all of them... unless she can prove them wrong. And then there's the little matter of her growing power, a power that may just attract the most dangerous of hunters.
As the clock ticks, can Reese juggle the chaos of her family's feud and her own magic, the imminent Fae judgement on her relationship, and trick-or-treat night? Or will it all flop, leaving her with dreams as stale as week-old coffee?
Mocha Brewed Monsters is the fourth in the Pie-Jinks series, a cozy fantasy that is perfect for fans of Gilmore Girls, Bewitched, and Practical Magic. If you like light, small-town stories, whimsical magic, and a touch of romance and high-stakes mystery, you will love Selina J. Eckert's series!
Selina is a biologist-by-day, writer-by-night native of Pennsylvania. She lives with her husband, dog, and two cats and spends her time writing, reading, creating art, and dreaming about fictional worlds. She has written two fairy-tale retelling short stories that were both finalists in Rooglewood Press short story contests and a fantasy short story, “Queen of Mist and Fog,” available through her newsletter.
I ADORE this entire series! Each book is such a cozy, warm autumn-themed adventure. Pretty much like a fall Hallmark movie meets a cozy paranormal fantasy. Set in a New England town with a pie witch main character, a fae prince boyfriend, various fantasy creature best friends, and a soft mystery to solve, this series is a must-read if you like cozy fantasy.
I gobbled up this particular entry in a single night, even if I did have to pause to bake cookies partway through. These books have such scrumptious descriptions of the baked goods that I always crave sweets while reading them!
Another great story in the Pie-Jinks series. These are fun, magical reads that are very enjoyable. Reese and Forrest make such a cute couple. Love all the Halloween activities in the small town of Cider Hollow. And a surprise ending. I can’t wait to see where the author takes this series. I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
This may be my favorite book in this series so far! Although it's probably also the least cozy, it still has lots of cozy vibes sprinkled throughout. It also has THE HAPPIEST of endings. Ahhhh, I just loved it!! I cannot wait for more of this series, and it'll definitely get a reread it the Fall because it's just so incredibly wonderful and has all the cozy fall vibes.
This series is so much fun to read! I love getting to revisit Cider Hollow and catch up with Reese and her friends! This latest book has it all, romance, mystery, and family drama. I also loved the ending and can't wait for the next book!
These stories are a fun combination of mortal and Fae interactions, bakery and business, business and romance, being good neighbors and helping each other. Fun and funny.
