This is the first book by the author who wrote this when she was in high school. As a debut work, it showcases both the raw talent and room for growth for an emerging writer. Her writing style is fresh with a youthful perspective. She captures the complexities of young adult experiences in a genuine way. As with many first novels, there are areas where the writing could be more polished. It will be interesting to see how her writing evolves in future works.
Instead of constructing an interesting unique world, the story leaves flying ideas, unfinished concepts and a basic Tik Tok narrative. A bad collage of the ideas that worked in Divergent.
