They couldn't be more different, but wild-at-heart (and in bed) Rose and sweet-but-square Tyler have to make it through a romantic Valentine's weekend to win the prize at the end - all while proving they're certainly, definitely, really not the perfect match the dating app proclaims them to be... right?
Rose I went to my bestie’s over-the-top Valentine’s Day event alone, and when the first person I meet is straight-laced Tyler, I know I’m leaving alone, too. He’s all buttoned-up with nary a tattoo in sight, and he does math…for fun. In other words, definitely not my type. But when a dating app proclaims him my Perfect Match and offers up a pot of prize money if we spend a romantic weekend together, complete with an all-expenses paid luxury hotel and couples activities galore, I don’t need love as a motivator–that money will help save my fledgling, and failing, graphic design business. Now Tyler is looking at me like I’m the perfect box of chocolates, talking about indulging in one last fling before he settles down. Suddenly, I’m thinking Mr. All-Wrong-For-Me might be the perfect Mr. Right-Now. Tyler I went to a Valentine’s Day singles’ event looking for love and left with Rose, whose vivacious attitude and sunset-hued hair sets her apart from every woman I’ve ever dated. Even if her curvy body stirs up a wilder side in me I’ve always kept under wraps, she’s definitely not what I’m looking for in a long-term partner… or so I thought. But somewhere between hiking with goats, getting our nails painted, and Rose’s lessons on new and inventive ways to share our heart-shaped bed, I’m wondering if she might be just what I never knew I always needed. But when she’s determined to part when our wild weekend is done, how can I convince her we might be a perfect match after all?
Eliza McLane (she/her) writes steamy romance full of enthusiastic consent, usually with a heavy helping of dirty talk. You can find her online at www.elizamclane.com, or talk to her about romance on instagram @elizamclanewriter.
SURE WE GET AN “I LIKE TO BE WATCHED” SCENE 35% IN BUT WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 85% BEFORE HE HELPS WITH HER TAXES SO AS FAR AS I’M CONCERNED THIS IS A SLOOOOW BURN!!!
Thank you to the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review
I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)
-m/f contemporary romance novella -insta attraction -chaos tattooed one -straight laced glasses wearing one -opposites attract -so much sexual tension -sex lessons -just a hookup -praise kink
GAH I loved this one. A fun premise of being set up by an algorithm I adored that Rose and Tyler picked each other first. This was a great execution of the sex lessons trope. These two had such amazing chemistry. But I think my favorite part was that they both loved/appreciated things about the other that they had felt was a negative quality, really saw each other despite taking place over a brief amount of time.
CONSENT is hot and this book is hotter because of it. The checking in, figuring out what they other want, Gosh I was sweating reading this one. Add in some voyeurism, sex in public, these two couldn't keep their hands off each other. This was sex at its finest building the intimacy between these two as they also got to know and trust each other. Every time Rose said good boy had me screaming.
Just an awesome read and I can't wait to read what Eliza comes up with next.

Review:
This was just so heartwarming. Tyler learned to free himself, and Rose learned that maybe it's okay to risk the fall. . . . . . . CW/TW: Public Sex
Quotes:
“I should have known you would have a c*ck like this,” she whispers, her mouth so close I feel the heat of her breath. “So damn polite.” “Po-polite?” “Look at it.” Her fingers wrap around me, squeezing. “So straight, so eager. Just waiting for me.”
“So f*cking good, gonna make me come right here. Such a good boy, giving me just what I need, just how I like it. Wish I could push your pants down, str*ddle you right here in the restaurant and–”
“Being safe is good. It’s really f*cking good. It’s the place where you can be yourself, where you can take risks. It’s the opposite of boring.”

Perfect Match de Eliza MClaine serie Holiday nights libro 2
Argumento:
Sixteen (technically 17) words to describe the 16 chapters (technically 17 including the epilogue) of this little novella. Yes, there’s a lot of sex but underneath it all, it’s actually more sweet than smut. Was a fun read.
4.5⭐️ I loved Eliza’s Christmas novella, Santa Baby, and couldn’t wait to read Perfect Match, her Valentine’s Day themed spicy romance.
What to Expect: Opposites Attract Forced Proximity “Teach Me” Slow Burn Public Displays of… Affection
I’m a total simp for a buttoned up, straight-laced hero, and Tyler was all that and more. I loved that he was an enthusiastic “student” who just needed some confidence in himself to break out of his shell, and Rose was the perfect partner to help him explore. I devoured this spicy novella quicker than the cake pictured in the background (this is the ”Seriously Big Chocolate Cake” from Cap City Diner in Columbus, OH).
This was cute, from shy, reserved Tyler to bold and messy Rose, it was hot and fun and quick and I enjoyed the both of them brought something to the table, it wasn’t just Rose drawing Tyler out of his shell and helping him be more confident. He saw beyond her mess and helped her learn to love herself.
Some authors just know how to write a novella, and Eliza McLane is one of those authors. I adored the first novella in this duology, Santa, Baby, and Perfect Match is such a phenomenal follow up. This story of Rose and Tyler, opposites in every way except for the ones that matter, had me in a chokehold from the first chapter. I love these two. Like LOVE them. There is so much steam and spice in this Valentine's Day story, but it's also so full of heart and yearning and trust that I got a little weepy when it was over. The pacing is spectacular for this one-sitting read with McLane's trademark emotional depth and crisp, gorgeous prose. The steam was top notch and the scene in the restaurant with the chocolate cake will live rent free in my mind for the rest of my life.
Steamy, smart, and supremely tender, Perfect Match is chock full of delicious tropes—opposites attract! Sex lessons! Men who wear glasses!—to create a novella made for devouring in one sitting. As always, Eliza McLane masterfully weaves true intimacy into every sentence, building a foundation of respect, kindness, and love between her lead characters for a truly emotionally fulfilling experience. It’s impossible not to leave a little piece of your heart within the pages of her books when you’re finished, and Perfect Match is no exception.
Disclaimer: I am friends and critique partners with the author, but my review would be the same regardless of relationship.
A light hearted Valentine's Day read. I thought Rose and Tyler had good chemistry.
Buttttt I did find everything else fairly unbelievable. I swear, contemporary romances really force me to suspend belief, more so than any other romance genre. I just can't buy it. While Rose and Tyler did have chemistry, I didn't think they had anything else going for them and I don't really see them as a couple. I also thought the plot was pretty dumb. However, I do think I'm the wrong demographic for this book, so it's likely a bit of a me issue. I found myself skimming paragraphs, even tho this is very short and only spans a weekend. Idk, if you're looking for a very low stakes V-day book that you can read in a day and is nicely steamy, then I would recommend this because it was fun enough, just nothing amazing 🤷♀️
This is a hot little novella full of consent, sex lessons, praise kink (his), and learning to appreciate the things about yourself that you thought were flaws. Rose is a tattooed chaos girlie who likes one night stands and doesn't believe in love, and Tyler is a straightlaced accountant who is looking for forever. They shouldn't work, but when a dating algorithm matches them and gives them a luxury weekend together to test their compatibility, they agree. The weekend quickly shows how compatible they are, at least physically, but the emotional connection and vulnerability comes a bit slower. Despite the tight timeline, the pacing of this novella was excellent, it never felt rushed, and I believed the HEA by the end.
Such a delightful and hot novella. The characters complement each other perfectly. I loved their banter and even with such a short amount of pages it felt a bit like a slow burn. Which made their falling for each other believable, even if everything happens during just a weekend. Appreciated the epilogue 6 months later that give us a glimpse to their couple dynamic. Also, always love to see some bi representation.
It'll become a futur comfy reread for sure and I definitely want to read more from this author, starting with Santa, Baby: A Very Merry Novella next Christmas season for sure.
I would firstly just like to say a very big thank you to the author who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of her book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.
I randomly came across this author and loved the sound of this book. When i was given the chance to read an early copy i jumped at the chance and was extremely excited and trust me I was NOT disappointed.
I just couldn’t stop reading this book and finished it all in one day over two sittings! After each chapter the story just kept pulling me in and i had to read more to find out what was happening next!
I absolutely loved the two main characters, Rose and Tyler, the chemistry between them was amazing. I loved how completely opposite they are - Tyler is prim and proper, straight laced, vanilla and very down to earth. Rose is a firecracker who speaks her mind first and thinks later, has brightly coloured hair, tattoos and knows what she wants.
I loved how there was already an attraction between Tyler and Rose right from when they first laid eyes on each other.
Even though the sauce levels in this book are hot hot hot the way it is written is just so lovely and sweet - it’s just amazing and really made my heart very happy!
Perfect Match has the most amazing perfect ending and the epilogue was even better. I will definitely be coming back for more from this author and i absolutely cannot wait…….
Meh. 2.5 stars. There were some really cute parts of this novella, but there were also some phrases/wording that were just ick or laughable. The story itself was perfect. It was the writing that irked me, and the first couple chapters had a handful of grammatical errors.
Would have DNF’ed if not for reading with a group of friends.
Look, I tried with this book. I really really did. EVERYONE I know seems to love it, and it really does sound right up my alley. But HOLY CRAP the not like other girls energy is off the charts here. Rose is uninterested in love! So edgy! Bleh.
Yes yes yes yes!!! OMG this book is EVERYTHING! If you thought Santa baby was good you are going to love this book!
Rose and Tyler are total opposites but when they do cover there is something in this weekend for the both of them - they spend a couple of hot and heavy nights together.
The smut 😍😍😍 WOW!! LOVE
Opposites attract Sex lessons Public acts of affection (sex acts) Just a fling
I’ve just finished this book and I want to read it again and again! It’s funny too I giggled a lot while reading.
I read this book as an ARC but all the opinions are my own
OMG this was soo bloody sweet!! Like literally one of the sweetest things I’ve read!! Firstly this has got to be one of the best written examples of showing how you regularly check in and ask for consent with someone, especially at the beginning!! Like literally it kept making my heart feel gooey!!
These two were such an amazing example of opposite attract!! Like they couldn’t have been anymore different yet they worked so well together!!!
This book had no business being this good lol! Freaking devoured it. Tyler is the perfect hot nerd and Rose is the wild child ready to set his world on fire
@twiceuponabook convinced me to buy this one when it was on sale, and I'm glad I did! A steamy, Valentine's Day, app/algorithm matching romance? Sign me up! Perfect for those looking for a buttoned-up accountant hero, a colorful, tattooed heroine, and a weekend away turned more.
Perfect Match is perfectly sexy. A scorching hot take on opposites attract, Tyler and Rosie will tug at your heartstrings while setting you on fire. A satiating fix for your romance sweet tooth- and after you read this, you will SURELY be craving sweets. You'll see ;)
My favorite thing about Eliza's writing, besides the spice, is how genuinely nice her characters are, no matter what they are navigating. They may not always see eye-to-eye, but they aren't slinging barbs. It's a special kind of sexy!
Note: I am friends and CP's with the author, but my review would be the same either way!
In case you missed Santa, Baby a few months ago, here’s your next chance to get on the amazing ride that is Eliza McLane’s smutty holiday novella series! This time she brings us an opposites-attract, forced proximity Valentines weekend getaway complete with teach me vibes, “it’s just sex” (lol), public shenanigans, and all of the heat and sweetness that I’ve come to expect when I pick up one of her books.
My favorite thing about this was the slow burn despite the fact that it’s a novella. Somehow Eliza manages to really build the relationship and intimacy between her characters in a short amount of time, which just makes the spice even more satisfying. The caring that develops between Rose and Tyler was so lovely to watch; I adored how they really appreciated each other and made the other one better for it. The chocolate cake scene wasn’t the only sweet treat in these pages!
I loved this little novella – the heat (temperature) and warmth (emotion) it exudes are off the charts and I’m so excited for Eliza’s next story! If you’re looking for some sweet and steamy fun for Valentine’s day, don’t miss this one!
Thank you so much to Eliza McLane for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Another great novella by Eliza! I loved this one so much that I read it in one sitting. Tyler and Rose are total opposites, especially when it comes to relationships. I love nerdy heroes sooo much, and it was so good to see him unravel thanks to Rose. Also, it’s unusal to see the guy being the one who’s looking for romance and is eager to fall in love, and I enjoyed every moment. The steam was as good as in SANTA, BABY. My favorite steamy reads are the ones that manage to be cute as well, and this one has the perfect balance. I really recommend Eliza’s novellas! I’m always ready for more!
ARC provided by Eliza McLane. Opinions are my own!
Just an adorable little algorithm-fueled meet cute with two messy but perfect humans. So much to love! Is it hot when a guy does your taxes for you? In this book it is!
