Was there life before Ocean Radley? If there was, it hasn’t been on Everleigh’s mind for a long time. His whole world has become Ocean, Ocean, Ocean. Daddy, Daddy, Daddy.
After being sentenced to a lifetime in a conservatorship, he knew he’d have to obey the rules and live under the mysterious man’s thumb, but he didn’t know he’d be put into the “care” of a psychopath.
Ocean wants a living doll. Someone he can dress up, play with, and then put on a shelf when he’s done. A simple life where he’s in absolute control. With his “condition”, keeping emotional distance is easy—or it was supposed to be.
Is wanting to burn down the world for someone the same as love?
Everleigh’s Ring is a smutty, intoxicating psychopath romance with an HEA. It features a possessive, domineering, and sometimes terrifying psychopath and the rough-edged burly man who falls head over heels for him (literally) even if maybe he shouldn’t. This book is mostly kink and heat with a ridiculous thriller-themed plot. And you know, a ton of spanking and discipline because reasons.

Some of you know her as Mock, others as S. Legend, or Miss S. She welcomes all names but will often go by Mock, a name given to her by her readers. Mock is an ambitious creative, weaving the most precious aspects of her soul into stories. She is an architect, building fascinating worlds, designed from inquiry, rooted in worldly wonderings. It’s an intuitive process where she is the scribe, the translator, the conduit. It helped that storytelling was the language spoken at home. One simply didn’t say, “We have an ant infestation,” in Mock’s family it was, “I was on my way to the living room, when a peculiar ant crossed my path. I looked to my right, a suspicious line of them marched toward the pantry. In that moment I knew; my kitchen was under siege.” The natural flow of conversation always took this form. And so. When Mock wrote her first novel, she didn’t plan it chapter by chapter, there was no outline, no “plotting” to speak of. But she didn’t “pants” it either, she didn’t make it up as she went along. She knew how the story felt, where it curved in places and hollowed in others; she knew the destination it rushed toward. Instead of orchestrating, she let the world inspire her, and held space for the words to come, trusting the characters knew what they were doing. All she had to do was tell a story, as she always had done; like breathing. This is her peace, her healing and solace: Gifts better shared. Mock’s works are the comfort you seek when you need to come home. Her unique writing style will take you, wayfaring reader, to unexpected destinations. She always says, “I’m not in the business of making up stories, I couldn’t if I tired. I’m lucky enough to get picked to share someone else’s story when I ask a question to the universe. Someone answers; I write it down.”
A book where you have to verify your age before purchasing!? Sign. me. the. fuck. up.
Is Secondhand Stockholm Syndrome a thing? Cause if a trained professional psychoanalyzed me after finishing this book, I'm pretty sure I'd be diagnosed & committed.
The blurb mentions that this book is "mostly kink" and if you're interested in reading, I would keep that in mind. Personally, I gobbled it up like a rich & decadent piece of chocolate cake because, at times, it felt like someone took all my kinks (& kind of even my love languages? lmao), threw them all into a book, and tied it up with leather straps & a pretty pink bow.
Because the book is so kink-heavy, you kinda have to be into the different kinks to enjoy it because the actual sex scenes aren't this drawn-out and detailed affair like some smut scenes are. Don't get me wrong, they're still hot as all hell, but the writing style doesn't make them stand out from the rest of the story because they're not really meant to stand out. The sex scenes aren't the "goal" of the story; the whole ass book is just one long kink-scene and, to be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way.
I read somewhere that this book is not listed on Amazon because it's too dark - idk if that's true and I don't know what this says about me, but it actually could have been a lot darker and I would have loved it just as much (Fair warning: I am the type of reader who has never been dissuaded/triggered by damn near anything, so please make sure to check CWs prior to reading if you are not that type of reader, because this still has very heavy themes).
As dark as it was, we still get our HEA, which is a requirement for me as a reader (I'm telling you, this book feels like it was written for me). Also, I'm also a huge slut for all things fluff and interestingly, this had plenty of it - as long as your definition of fluff/love extends to "murderous psychopath's favorite toy". Which, lucky me, mine very much does.
As far as the storyline goes, I loved it! I don't want to give anything away but like I said, this book is kink-driven; so even though there's a clear plot, there are quite a few questions that go unanswered. For me, I feel like I didn't really need the answers to those questions to enjoy the story cause I still had a fan-fucking-tastic time. Everleigh is frickin' adorable and Ocean is, well, Daddy. *drools in sub*
If you're a lil freaky-deak like me, give this one a try.
This book is filthy good!!! I loved it! Please read the TW, this is not a book for everyone❤️ The book is filled with very good smut and also has a plot❤️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
3.25⭐️ stars - I’m on the fence though so big chance this is pushed up. It was a slow go for me until about the final 1/3 where I got reallyyyy ensnared. In all fairness, I struggle sometimes with the 3rd POV so that could have been where the disconnect lies.
That being said, I, like Everleigh thought out this book, had questions. So. Many. QUESTIONS. And I think maybe that was intentional because Lee is confused, forced into a new world where he has no agency, freedom, or clue what’s happening. It’s like I was him. 😂 Questions I can answer: Does Lee, suffer from Stockholm syndrome? Probably. Do I care? No. Def not. But that’s just me man.
This book is far fetched on the surface, distractingly so - but if you pay attention you can feel the undercurrent of darkness that isn’t revealed until the end. And man, dark dark dark.
Lots of manipulation. Not safesaneconsentual per se Supporting character bffl as always, was excellent Polyamory lives here Unexpected tenderness happens but not without anxiety over what pain might follow 😅
Check CW. This shit is whack. And i mean that as a compliment. 🙃
....Y'all this was dark and I mean DARK. If you have any triggers whatsoever, don't even look in this book's direction. For the rest of us freaks, have fun(?)
This is one of those books where I feel weird saying I liked it because of just how messed up it is. In the world of too dark for Amazon books, it's pretty good. Obviously, it's not for everyone but that's kind of the point. I don't think this author is writing for a mass audience which is totally fine. Lee and Ocean's "relationship" is beyond toxic and the definition of Stockholm syndrome. As the book goes on and gets more twisted, for every question that's answered, three more are raised. I'm still not fully sure what Lee did or how Walden and Ocean functioned. I guess it makes sense but at the same time, it doesn't. Maybe it doesn't need to. And I don't want to call the smut hot but there sure was a lot of it and it was well written so do with that knowledge what you will.
The writing was fine. I think it would have flowed a little better if it was in first person since the narrator is clearly Lee but that's just me. The world is kind of sort of set up like the one in Docile but more messed up if you can believe. That kind of made things interesting so if you liked that book you'll probably be into this. I didn't love the ending. Only because I'm not a fan of "let's use trama to explain everything" endings. It's not ethical, not that this is a book that cares about ethics, and it's a little lazy. Like this is such a no holds bar kind of book. Nothing is held back. Even the smut is imaginative. Some of the TLC could have been given to the ending is all I'm saying.
For the most part, I did enjoy this and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. I'm prepared now so I think I'll be okay. I'm probably late to the party but if your looking for a truly dark writer, she's it.
OMG Mock did it again! This book is absolutely incredible but completely... horrible? at the same time! How she can write something that generates so many conflicting feelings is beyond me.
I have to say, if you're not going to read this story with a completely open mind, don't. It doesn't really have a plot, something that the author specified from the beginning BUT it's hot, it's sexy, it's kinky...So, so, so KINKY that I think that word isn't even close to describing it. And it has so many things that are totally WRONG that I don't think trigger warnings are enough!
I'm still trying to figure out what Lee's crimes were that led to a life sentence in a conservatorship. Because let me tell you, if his crimes were perverse in any way, he ended up in a place where the people who were supposed to "cure" him are more deviant and perverted than he is, and who, in my opinion, are the ones who should be locked up forever!
In the end, it really doesn't matter how he got there, but the relationship he builds with Ocean.
Oh! I hate the evil "doctor" and...well I hate Walden too. Can't help it, I really tried to like him but...nope.
And I don't want to say more because I would end up filling the review with spoilers and it would be a waste. What I said. OPEN MIND. Very open. And if you are not able? DO NOT read it!
I want to add that I'm not someone who is into threesomes (I'm not talking about a casual threesome, that's just sex) or anything related to polyamory. I have nothing against that, everyone loves what they loves, but it's not something I really understand, I mean, how can you love more than one person at the same time? Sharing them? I could not. So, I tend to avoid those kinds of stories, and only a few authors get me to read them, Mock (S. Legend) one of them. I just love her books, the depth she gives to the characters and what touches them inside.
I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
It's been a long time since I've had the pleasure of reviewing something from S. Legend. When I finished Everleigh's Ring I felt a sense of pride/camaraderie wash over me because this author is never afraid of pushing boundaries and always brings the very best stories to the dark Romance community. Everleigh's Ring was... how do I explain it? Other than it was completely bonkers!
It was so different and definitely won't be for everyone. I knew this would be an instant hit for me because all my brain really desires is pathological, morally grey MC's who have a touch him and you will die mentally for the man they love. I totally loved Oceans love language although I wouldn't want to be on the recieving end of it lol. Ocean is a complete psychopath. He's ruthless and psychotic with his boys and loves nothing more than breaking them into submission. Lee was a perfect candidate for Ocean because he gets off on being humiliated. I know I shouldn't find these two cute with all their super toxic behaviour, But, alas! I found them sssooo cute in a very unorthodox way. Honestly there's no help for me! If there isn't spanking and a heavy dose of degradation, I just don't want it! Gone are the days of lovey dovey romances!
Ocean wanted a living doll and all Lee wanted was Daddy's undivided attention! A perfect match for eachother. This story was so erotic & i mean EROTIC! Holy smokes... 🥵🥵
The individual's running this home deserve to be in jail let alone the boys under their "correction" & care. If you can call it that.
✩ To quote Everleigh- “This house is full of sadists and every one of them finds it arousing as f**k.”
Lee...Everleigh, sweet baby doll, do you know how freaking amazing you are?! I want to be you, and at the same time, I want to own you just like Ocean does. Oh, that lucky MF!🖤 Lee is absolutely perfect. I love him, imagined, and real flaws. To me, he is irresistible and intensely sensual.🖤 Okay, listen, if you're into some heavy, steamy kink, this is freaking IT!🖤 Lee and Ocean are two men falling in love, without fully knowing what love really is. To break the notion of love down to its basic components and arrive at each stage on their own was absolutely fascinating to observe.🖤 There was a lot of steam, but what made this book incredibly delicious was the build-up, the anticipation, and the explosive revelations about the characters. I can't get into it too much without giving away key information, but let me just say nothing is what it seems.🖤 This story is a true exploration of the most sacred inner cravings of human nature.🖤 Who Lee really is, the person he believes himself to be, the punishment he thinks he deserves, the crimes he believes he’s committed pinned against the deeds of his master and owner Ocean - this story will leave you breathless. 🖤 Ocean...I can't begin to tell you how much you will fall in love with this man. He is all sharp edges and intense emotions. There is no middle, mild, and maybe with him - zero to one hundred is how he operates. Gazing in his stormy eyes will get you nowhere. He slowly invades all of your senses until you stand there, worrying your lower lip, completely commiserating with Lee - falling for Ocean is simply inevitable. 🖤
Intense is the main word I would use to describe Everleigh's Ring, because it's the only word that I can think of that fits. Having only read the Tristan books by Mock, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. This is a lot darker than those, with more psychology involved. It does make me want to explore the author's backlist a bit more. I read this solidly. There was stuff I had to do, but I just wanted to read it, to figure things out, to see Everleigh thrive. Mostly, I got my wish. The book is set in a world where people can be put into conservatorships for various crimes. There is no getting out of it at a later date, no matter how reformed a person becomes. Ocean takes men on, only men, and has chosen Everleigh to be special. He is not "rented" out to others like the other men in his care. He belongs only to Ocean. Swiftly, Ocean and his team, a doctor and psychiatrist, dismantle Everleigh. They heal his sex addiction, and reform his psyche, because they can't cure his addiction, just turn it into something manageable. It's dark, controlling, objectifying, manipulative, and so much more. I loved every minute of it even as I got that squirmy feeling for Lee. He's punished regularly and for some things we never truly get answers, but that was okay to me. In the end Everleigh is still somewhat the person that went in, just calmer, settled and knows his place. I know this will sit in my brain for a long time.
Well after reading this, I can say that I am in a readers sub-space, as this book is smutty and kinky as hell.
I don’t normally enjoy BDSM or poly relationships in books, but my Queen of Spanking, Madame Mock, makes me love it. I swear she should work in government to manipulate people. As I’ve said before, she Stockholm Syndrome’s you with her writing, convincing you these things you are reading are fabulous and we should all join in.
But the story of Ocean and Everleigh is so unique in its premise, it kept me on my toes and I just fell into that screwed up world with them. Ocean is a psychopath, and to be honest I felt on edge reading this as I didn’t know which way he would react to anything that happened. He is so hard to read.
Everleigh, or Lee, is a very intricate character. A paradox of a person, his outward appearance conflicting massively to his behaviour and submissiveness. But goodness is he the most beautiful person. I adored him.
This is such an enjoyable read, so horny and naughty. I would actually say that this is a very “sensory” feel of a book, as it does somehow stimulate your senses whilst reading, which is quite a thing.
Enjoy, but don’t read on transport or in public!! Also have to shout out to another character, Dr Cain, what a dirty fucker.
*screams* this was near perfection and then for reasons unknown the author wanted to ruin the ending for me.
This erotic romance follows Everleigh who has been entered into a conservatorship. He’s essentially owned by a man named Ocean. Ocean is extremely possessive, controlling, and their relationship is utterly toxic. I loved it. If you like kink, Stockholm sydrom trope, and all the toxic neediness …. This has all that and more.
I’m mad though because Ocean apparently belongs to another man, Dr. Wardon. And it makes absolutely no sense to me. I’m as jealous as the characters I read and Ocean with Warden just pisses me off. Especially since Wardon felt ownership over Ocean…… NO.
So if you don’t like sharing/ polyamory this might ruin the story for you. It certainly ruined the ending for me.

One of my good reads of the year. A ver kinky book ~ good amount of smut and good amount of psychopath ! I loves every single second of my reading.
You start the book by wondering what is going on and then very fast you fall in love with the characters. Lee is such a sweetheart who is trying to find his place in this world and Ocean who seems so strong, like a tree, so perfect is in psycho mind.
I really love how the author is exploring “taboo”/kinky topic with such sweetness and smoothness. There is no bad feeling, no toxic feeling. Everyone is fucked up in is how way. Each book is a pleasure.
I recommend this book if you love MM smut romance / kinky stuff / psychopath mind / dom-sub relationship / a little bit of twist as everything is not what it seems haha.
You ever start a book and go damn! And you can't stop reading. Then your tablet dies, and instead of plugging it in and taking a break, you go hunting for an extension cord, tearing apart your house to find one so you can keep reading? This is one of those books.
At first, I wasn't sure what to make of Ocean. He seemed like a complete psycho. But as the book went on and his character grew, I ended up really liking him. And Lee, he's just a good boy wrapped in bad boy clothing. All he needed was someone like Ocean.
The book was too short for me. I want more. I need more. I'm dying to know about Ocean's past and his relationship with Dr. Walden. We got a small peek in the epilogue, but I know there's a deeper story to be told, and I'm really, really hoping we get that story.
What happens when you’re given a choice between going to prison or living under a conservatorship? Most would choose the conservatorship. Would your answer still be the same if you found out the program was run by a psychopath?
Everleigh’s Ring explores the intimate world of BDSM, control, submission, and the deconstruction of one’s personality and mental state. How much of who we are is influenced… or controlled… by society?
Through the use of powerful imagery and carefully crafted descriptions, S. Legend takes us on an explicit journey of sexual exploration as Lee navigates the new world created by his Master. I’m always amazed at how talented this author is. She is able to create such interesting and complex characters with such vibrant background stories. The reader is transported into a world that is both wonderful and terrifying at the same time.
This book is not intended for those with weak stomachs or looking for a sweet and vanilla romance. This book is dark and graphic and intended for those who enjoy exploring a different side of sexuality and love. Read the trigger warnings as well.
Okay so I went into this one blind and I'm so glad I did. Legit all I knew was that it was daddy kink. Truly, that's all i need to know to pick up a book LOL.
I promise you that you've never read another book like this one. Think of it as a dark kink fest. A dark kinkpalooza if you will. I am also close to begging S Legend for a certain bonus scene that I'd love to see. If you know, you know.
What to expect: -Daddy Kink -Stockholm Syndrome -Possessive MCs -Dark Themes -Humiliation Play, Doll Play....all the kink play basically
Things to expect from Mocks book ➡️Not your usual plot setting, Poly, Kink, 🍑👋, extra kink, extra 🍑👋. And yes this book has it all. My favourite chapter was the Epilogue. The Spice level in this book was over the top, 🔥5++++. Personally I felt a bit disconnected with the plot on a few occasion apart from that Daddy and Everligh, Kevin, and all other Characters were so awesome🥰 Love them all.
This was a tricky one to review, it’s dark, it’s twisted, it’s wrong in so many ways and yet oh so right in others. Stockholm syndrome, sadism and spanking (of course, it’s Mock) this book may not have the strongest storyline and we don’t get all the answers but that didn’t stop me enjoying it in all its smutty goodness.
This story took some twists and turns I didn’t see coming and left me guessing as to what would happen. Ocean and Lee’s relationship is twisted and not normal but it is theirs. Filled with tons of humiliation kink. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The writing was great.
Definitely some questionable parts, some parts that didn't make sense, some weird phrasing/unnecessary repetition of facts... but I still oddly enjoyed it!
Wow so Mock went dark on this one and it totally worked! After getting into trouble with the law, Everleigh is placed in a conservatorship with Ocean Radley, who he quickly discovers is a sadistic psychopath. Lee is no stranger to kink, but Ocean shows him a whole new level. Humiliation, doll play, feminization, impact play, chemical castration, body modification…nothing is off the table at Radley’s estate. Lee can’t figure out what makes him different from all of Ocean’s other boys, but he knows he’s special. Lee’s “treatment” may be a bit dubious (there’s some doctors involved who Lee is pretty sure are not quite doctors 🤣) but he must admit, it’s working. He’s better behaved, subservient, and has learned to put the needs of another completely above his own. Ocean has plenty of skeletons in his closet, but Lee sees his softer side (even though that side is a bit twisted too!) A really interesting look at domestic discipline to the extreme and discovering what turns you on…by trying it all.
