I won a Kindle copy of this book in a Goodreads Giveaway (thanks to all those involved) and it just took me a few quick minutes to read it. I actually had no idea I had signed up to win this, because I'm not into Kindle books nor robots, and I'm 42. Ha. But I love a kids' book. Novo was cute and I was fine with the message of the story. It makes sense and the process of solving the mystery was pretty thorough, I thought. The pictures were so colorful--I would have loved to be holding the actual book and turning actual pages. I would have enjoyed it even more and spent more time with it if it was a physical book.

Good cute for children about emotions

Novo the space robot from Infinitia has troubles. His Venus bot was destroyed in a storm. But Novo's troubles do not end there. There is a continuous drip drip from his eyes, and he does not know how to solve it, and if he cannot solve it, then he would soon rust.

Lovely imaginative story for children to teach them about various sad emotions

ADORABLE!! 😘

I love this little robot! He is so adorable. What a lovely little story for young children about learning about crying in a good way. The illustrations are really fantastic. Both story and pictures are highly imaginative and delightfully creative. Even though the main theme is about crying, this darling little robot from the planet Infinitia and all his robot and Earthling friends made me smile, smile, smile …😄

A WISHING SHELF BOOK REVIEW
29th November 2022
TITLE: The Space Robot, How to Solve the Mystery of Crying
AUTHOR: Charly Froh
Star Rating: 5

‘Brightly illustrated, sweetly written and packed full of adventure, children will love it - particularly if they like very cute robots!’ The Wishing Shelf

REVIEW
The Space Robot, How to Solve the Mystery of Crying by Charly Froh is a wonderfully sweet adventure story for young boys and girls. Sweetly written and filled with lots of fun, made-up words (drippity droppety, stardust-squeezy) and crazy space-tech (I loved his anti-rust-brella), it follows a small robot who can´t understand why there´s water oozing from his eyes. Determined to find out, he jumps on his (very cool) space scooter to ask his human pals what´s going on.
The most striking element to this story is how well Charly Froh seems to know her young readers. She knows how important it is to fill the story with fun, fun, FUN! And, although there´s a message, it´s hidden within a skilfully plotted adventure. Not only that, there´s humour too; lot´s of it - I loved when the robot was trying to blow dry his face. And I so want a pet Zog!!!
Then there´s the robot himself (herself, itself – don´t know, but he looks sort of boyish to me). He´s sooooooooo cute! He’s full of energy, full of curiosity – and a little bit reckless too. Perfect! He´s the sort of character the young readership will cheer on all the way to the exciting ending.
So, who do I recommend this book to? Well, most children aged 5 – 7 would, I think, enjoy it a lot. They´ll love the bright, colorful artwork and getting to know the charismatic little robot. Parents too will like it; particularly the ´crying/talking = feel better´ message. All in all, a fab read!

Novo The Space Robot: How to Solve the Mystery of Crying, written by Charly Froh, is a whimsical story about a robot named Novo that lives on planet Infinita. It is a usual Monday morning when he goes about shopping and when he arrives home, his beautiful venus-bot flowers are ruined by a storm. Novo is so upset he begins to cry and cannot make the tears stop flowing, which makes matters even worse for Novo. So what will Novo do to make the tears stop before he rusts?

This charming children’s book is incredibly sweet from front to back. The illustrations are incredibly captivating and playful. The story is written with young readers in mind, given the simplicity of the verbiage, and is easy to follow along. I loved the message of expressing one’s emotions and being able to verbalize them as well, especially to our friends or family. It shows the importance of communication and how healing it can be. Demonstrating talking our feelings out is the best remedy. There is also a message of having confidantes and being a part of a community that comes together to help one another through difficult times.

Novo The Space Robot: How to Solve the Mystery of Crying is a well-written children’s book with fun characters and a meaningful message. I believe this would make an excellent addition to any reader’s library, especially families with young kids learning about emotions and how to express themselves positively.

Here we have another adventure of Novo the Space Robot and his earthling friends.
This time is about crying. He had no idea why water came from his eyes without stopping, so he asked the earthlings for help.
A very sweet and cute story about why we cry. I just loved these books. Novo is a lovely character and I’m absolutely sure that children would love his stories.

Tears + Talking = Feeling Better

This is the second book in the children's book series about Novo the space robot, and the second one I've read. I enjoyed this one as much as the first. The author is very creative with wordplay and gets across a good message without feeling preachy. The illustrator has created beautiful and bright pages that only enhance the story. I love the creative use of words, like its twists on familiar phrases to make them more “space-y” or “robot-y,” a favorite being “easy-peasy-stardust-squeezy.”

This particular story is about poor Novo, who finds his beautiful garden destroyed after a storm. He starts crying, but doesn't quite understand why… and he cannot stop, no matter what he does! Apparently, this is the first time he has cried, so he doesn't understand what's happening, and he is very fearful of rusting. He returns to Earth to meet the friends he made in the first book, and the Earth children explain the different types of tears to him. No matter what Novo does, though, they do not stop! However, he finds that as he talks with his friends, he feels better, and eventually the tears stop. The message, in the end, is that tears plus talking equals feeling better. Not a bad message for children…or even adults! If you and your child enjoy creative wordplay in children’s books along with well-done illustrations, you can't go wrong with a book in the Novo the space robot series.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

First, the illustrations are fantastic. Some of the best you will see in children’s books. My kids absolutely loved the way everything looked which made the book that much more interesting to them. After the storm destroys Novo’s garden, he begins to water out of his eyes and he fears that he will rust. Not knowing why this is happening he travels to earth in hopes that earthlings can help him solve the mystery. There he learns about different emotions and reasons why people cry. He learns that he was feeling sad and that crying was actually like a magical medicine. They made him so much stronger! I love how the book encourages the idea of crying and talking through your emotions. It’s great for your children’s mental health to learn this at an early age.

Novo the Space Robot can't figure out why there is water coming out of his eyes when his favorite flower is destroyed. He makes his way to his earth friends who ask him why he's crying. Novo doesn't know about crying. The friends teach him about different types of feelings - happiness, joy, sadness, anger, etc. They listen to him and he learns crying is ok. This story is wonderful for children who have trouble with big emotions. The illustrations are adorable. Between the space theme, feelings, and happy ending, what's not to like? This was the first Novo book we've read, but I plan on getting the others for my kids.

My first grade grandson read this book with ease. He, however, became bored by “all the talking.” The book is well written and explains the different reasons we cry in language that a child can understand. The illustrations are cute and will make it fun for a younger child.
