Daddy's Obsession #1

Stalk Me Gently

Doesn't every good girl need a daddy?

It's him. The man from the texts is watching me. I mean...
I knew he would eventually contact me but I wasn't expecting...
My fingers shake as I tap back a reply.

Who are you

I wait. Prickles rise on my forearms. I can't tear my gaze away from the screen.

I'll be your daddy now
Little Reece
Doesn't every good girl need a daddy

What. The. Actual.
Fear and angst rise in my throat.
It's sick.
And wrong.
And scary...

But somehow mixed in with the fear is a delicious thread of danger...
One that trickles through my core like a hot lick of a flame.
I should delete this number. I should tell someone. I should probably call the police.
But I don't do any of that.

I text him back.

Doesn’t every woman or girl want to feel save?

Doesn’t every woman or girl want to feel protected?

Doesn’t every woman or girl want someone who will fulfill their every need no matter what that need is, and even if she doesn’t know what she needs, Daddy knows.

Reese is being stalked by someone who is texting her and who seems to know an awful lot about her, all the time. He finally shows himself when Reese needs someone to protect her but isn’t he just someone else from whom she needs protection?

Daddy, Bryant, has his secrets but so does Reese and there is a matter of a key on a red ribbon which seems to be of great interest to both of them but neither of them knows what’s in the cabinet that the key fits.

This is a very hot Daddy/Dom story with a bit of a mystery and a couple of twists thrown in for our enjoyment. Be warned there is a cliffhanger and I quickly gave in and bought the sequel to this book, Praise Me Sweetly, because it was going to drive me crazy not knowing the end of the story of Reese and Bryant.

I won this ebook in a First Reads giveaway. Thank you to the author Shanna Handel.

Reese agreed to one night with Bryant in exchange for something she needed. But when things go a little haywire and she finds herself being whisked away, she may realize that everything she had planned isn't going to go her way.

If you love daddy dom romances, then this is the perfect book for you. Bryant (Daddy) is an older, dominant man and knows exactly what he's doing. He just makes you swoon and absolutely melt fit him. I loved that he wasn't naive and knew about what Reese before hand.

The steam in this book is amazing. It takes a little time to build up to the really good parts, but everything that happens is still just as good. Plus the amount of teasing might get you just as desperate as Reese was.

TEACH ME THE WORLD

The first book in Daddy’s Obsession will introduce the two main characters, Bryant Long and Reece Bright. The story is a mystery-suspense game of cat and mouse. Who’s the cat and who’s the mouse is part of the game. The entire story revolves around a key on a red ribbon that was placed in the protection of Bryant, by his attorney, Matthew Sheffield, after he passed away. But another puzzle of this mystery is the connection of Reece with Sheffield. The story involves stalking—both Reece and Bryant—of each other.

Text: Hello to you too, Reece.
Reece: Who are you
Text: I’ll be your daddy now Little Reece Doesn’t every good girl need a daddy
Reece: Are you there
Text: Daddy is here Daddy is always here

“I want to know why Sheffield had that key, why she needs it so badly, and why he didn’t want her to have it. I’m a patient man. I will get to the bottom of this, but I know the importance of timing. The truth can wait.”

Bryant: Come here, sweetheart.
Reece: So I guess our whole ‘one night in exchange for the key’ thing is over.
Bryant: That’s right. You’re all mine now.
Reece: Mmm—that sounds nice.

Ok, the story is a mystery and does end on a cliffhanger. I don’t want to over tell anything. To be honest—I don’t know—we’ll learn the truth in the next book. I waffled back and forth on what the ‘catch’ was between Bryant and Reece—and what or where this was going. The mystery continues with the answers in Praise Me Sweetly.

The story is a Daddy Dom—little girl dynamic with power exchange and does contain dominance, submission, explicit sex scenes, discipline, duplicity, secrets, and danger. I can’t wait to see what happens next!!!

“There is no balance between us. He’s wealthy, I’m broke. He has what I need, I have nothing to offer him. He’s older, wiser, and more experienced. He holds all the power. And I’m powerless before him.”

This read like it was written without an editor. It was rushed but also the ending didn’t conclude anything??

**Review Shared for Duet**

There were so many things that didn't make sense in book one. In their POV they said certain things and thought certain things that made us believe the stories they were telling and then later on they say it's all a lie and other things are the reason for what they did.... It's all just very confusing and annoying. It's almost like the author wrote the duet without having any plan so they had already set the plot up for certain aspects and then changed their mind leaving us kind of reeling?

For example, when Reece stops things because she feels self-conscious of her body. Which is expressed in an inner dialogue, so we have no reason not to believe it. Yet later we find out that she was prancing around her apartment in her underwear and bra in front of her window in hopes of certain people seeing her? Not the act of someone self-conscious of her body, at all.

Also the whole thing with the key. By the second book the conclusion with that was the only thing that still made sense to go with. But it was still confusing throughout and ended up being a bit of a let down. What was in there... it really made no sense for her "dad" to leave.

There were sooo many plot holes to be honest... another one was when Reece finally opened up about her past and then Bryant had inner dialogue about finding out why she ran away from home? But she didn't run away from home? She literally just explained her mother left and she had to find ways to support herself? And what do you know. He wonders why she ran away and says he will find out but it never comes up again.

Also the whole "one night thing" but he talks about her being his and he is obsessed with her and obviously never intended for it to be one night only? So what was the point of even saying that?

In the second book she gets a manicure when they are back in NYC, yet they got one before they left and it's only been two days? She literally JUST had a spa day and did a bunch of stuff and then she gets a wax two days later? You can't get waxed for weeks after...

**Spoiler Ahead**

The fact that Reece was stalking HIM made the entire first half of the first book not make any sense. We could have done without that and everything else still would have made sense with the key bringing them to each other.

I think the idea was good. It just should have been executed better. Like having an actual plan for the writing that made more sense.

Also there was literally NO need for this to be a duet. Especially considering the only conflict in the second book was 1. solved off page. 2. literally boring and so so quick.

To be clear the only reason I finished this duet was because of the daddy baby girl relationship. And even then that was... more extreme then I am used to. Even then, the smut wasn't that great. It was just "yes daddy" "please daddy" over and over.

Book #1 of 2

☑️ Daddy & his shy girl
🔥 Smut
☑️ Billionaire older man
🆗 Struggling young woman
🆗⬇️ Stalking and hidden agendas (not much is shown, it is revealed a little bit by bit)

This book was supposed to be focused on:
🔸Daddy-sweet girl relationship
🔸Stalking
🔸Obsession
🔸Possessive feelings

What we get:
🔸Daddy-sweet girl smut (which is hot, don't get me wrong)
🔸Instant love
🔸Everything happens too quickly
🔸Inconsistent behaviour: not only regarding specific scenes but also to increase the shock value of the plot twists
🔸All the stalking and obsession was done before even the story begin

I do believe in order to make it even more of a surprise to the readers, the author doesn't reveal the characters' past actions nor their motives and agendas.

Because of that, the way they act and are described in the beginning does not match their pasts, it all becames a bit incongruent.

For example:

🔸Reece

Reece is supposed to be a shy, self conscious girl that does not know how attractive she is. She is always blushing. She is a hard worker and is still dealing with her father's passing. She has been cheated on by her boyfriend, several times until she broke up with him when she caught him with her bff. So, her self-esteem and confidence is not the best.

But then, in her past she is sure of herself and her beauty, she knows she is attractive and doesn't shy from attention, she is confident. She had to make tough decisions and take care of herself.

And supposedly she investigated and made a plan to retrieve something she wants. No matter what needed to be done.

Huh???
It really doesn't make sense.
It seems like completely different people.

🔸Daddy

His character is more consistent that Reece's but he still has actions that do not match what he says.

He says right at the start he pays and have them sign a NDA in order to have a night with a girl he is attracted to. And that happens quite frequently.

He claims that as soon as he saw Reece he became obsessed. No other girl has crossed his mind.

But at first he says the first time he say her was a few days (or a week) before he started talking to her.

But then he says he has been obsessed with her for a long time, that he needed to know everything about her and make her his. But he specifically said he had paid for a night with a girl not even a week(or two weeks?) before...so...what???

And all this plot twists that came out of nowhere with nothing to hold on to and then have all the essence of the characters shifting just to fit that change... Definitely not my cup of tea.

The Daddy-sweet girl kink though was good.
Their relationship started way too quickly but it was hot. 🔥

The Plot Thickens

I wasn’t sure if I’d read any books by Shanna Handel but realized about 3 chapters in that I had indeed started reading this book on the Radish platform but it was either removed after X amount of days or it got too expensive. IDK, I just know I never finished it. THIS time around was a naughty, juicy good time!
The protagonist isn’t as clearly defined as you would think with a Daddy kink book. Oh no, there is an unexpected twist to this story. There is TONS of fire & punishment throughout that gives the story it’s base but also a bit of intrigue…who was her daddy, what is this key??
The questions go unanswered in this book. It’s left on a cliffhanger so will need to read on to find out what happens next.
All in all a fun light read. It’s a nice break from my current genre, acting as a sorbet of sorts. I’m going to grab book 2 now to see what happens next. Will keep you posted!

What starts out as an "Unknown number" random text to Reece's phone... soon becomes a quickly blossoming attraction and a situation that Reece isn't sure she wants to be apart of.

That is, until she's in the midst of it and her Daddy is all she can think about.. and can't think of the world existing without him in it.

But what happens when some of the past truths come our and the one chasing becomes the one being chased? Will her past disrupt her future?

Will Daddy be able to help her past her fears and guide her on the right path so she can do everything she wants in life.. or will they break each other's hearts and have to go their separate ways?

This book was hot.. and I can't wait for the second book in the duet!

Okay where do I even start.... jfc. The story was everywhere. So many plot holes. Too many spicy scenes which is like wild cause I eat that shit up normally. If I could I'd give this no stars but the only saving grace was like 3 times the book made me laugh and the cover of the book is pretty. The ending was also pretty interesting. I think of the myster aspect was developed more and had like maybe 10-15 more chapters of exposition of the key situation that would have kept me entertained to WANT to keep reading. I only finished it since I bought the book myself and didn't want to waste the money by not reading it. Anyways. Yeah 1 star. If this is up your alley that's cool, it's just not for me.

Ends on a cliffhanger

Spice 4/5, added bonus he talks dirty
The "daddy" term isn't my favorite but it's his kink and he's old enough to be her Dad.
She's shy we think but she's turned on by his Daddy Dom ways.
Trigger warning booty play and rough spankings but hey she needs to be punished by Daddy.(oy)
He's keeping dark secrets but we know them she's hiding something even darker than the past she admitted to...things come to a crushing climax and bam book ends Ahhhh.
Side note that Ashley assistant blah she's got to go just saying.
This book kept me excited and moving right into book 2.
If you like a little darker kinkier romance then it's a good read but not the darkest I've read.

Wow. From the beautiful cover to the cliffhanger, just wow. Reece is a preschool teacher nursing a broken heart. She's been getting mysterious texts from a man claiming to be her daddy. When she goes out for a night of dancing with her friends, Bryant finds her. Nothing will ever be the same, for either of them. A whirlwind romance ensues, and not everything is as it seems. Bachman stories are always complicated and memorable. This is not the exception. I'm waiting with bated breath for the next installment, and thanking all that is good that it won't be a long wait.

I received an ARC for this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Wow!!! Who's the prey, and who's the predator or savior??? Bryant (Daddy) was a godsend and a fantasy come to life for Reece. I'm still swooning!!!! The shades of Baughman in this story were titillating and most welcome by this reader. I enjoyed these two characters, but I'm ready to smack each one with the way this book ended, especially Reece. I am on tenterhooks waiting for book 2 and some great resolution. These two belong together, even if they are too blind and hard headed to see it. Anxious for more please.

This was such a good book! It took me back to the first book I read by Shanna (Bronson) when the beauties didn't know that they were to become a beauty and didn't know what to expect from the Bachman men. Stalk me Gently is Bachman adjacent.

"Daddy" and Reece are really hot together but there are so many secrets and half truths from both of them. I can't wait for the next book so we can get all those secrets uncovered and hopefully these 2 can find their happy ending.

I was intrigued when I saw that Shanna Handel was writing a duet. I'm not always a big fan of cliffhangers, but I had a feeling that Shanna would make it worth it. So far, I am not wrong. The first book in this duet is full of mystery and a question that takes you for a ton of different twists and turns. Bryant and Reece both have plenty to hide from each other but the closer they get, the harder it is to not let their true feelings get in the way. Not only is this book intriguing and mysterious, it is filthy. So hot in all the right ways. I can't wait to see how this story ends.

It's not what I was expecting....

I guess I wasn't expecting the stalking to be so short... I don't want to give away the reason but it seemed very rushed. It's got twists which is great but it's seems to be secondary to the Daddy sex which normally I love but this seems repetitive. I get he's older and I get he's a daddy but using daddy in every sentence took away from the passion. Another reason I am disappointed is because I don't Reese...she's just so untruthful and I don't find her to be a,strong woman nor a challenge for him...

Cliffy but complete

This ends on a cliffhanger but the author was smart and kind enough to release the books close together so it's more like just a two part book. I am assuming the second half of the duet has a satisfying conclusion. The twists are amusing you kind of find yourself saying really?? But it's ok, well written and steamy. Bryant's actions are a little darker than the heros in most of these books, I've only read a couple other with this sort of detail showing you what bad men they are even with justifiable reason.

I came me into this book w/ high hopes !! Someone recommended it to me during my obsession w/ Zade Meadows ( or daddy Zade as i like to call him ). But it has literally become the worst book that i’ve ever read. To me, there was no character development, the plot was choppy, and I didn’t not like the fact that the word ‘daddy’ was used 20+ times in a page. I should have DEFINITELY DNF’ed this book, but I kept going because it slowly became a comedy to me rather than a dark romance.

This was… different but good. I love a good “Daddy” book. This one didn’t disappoint. I was never quite sure what the heck was going on as the back story unfolds slowly throughout the book. I LOVED that! So often a book loses me if the full backstory is unloaded in the beginning. It can feel like it drags on. 🤷‍♀️ I loved how this was laid out. I’m off to read the next one in the series as this one ends in a cliffy. 😉

Definitely a quick read that didn’t need to be two books. It moves quickly which means that very early on in the book you find out who the stalker is and very shortly after that you realize that Bryant was being stalked first. I’m eager to see what is in the cabinet, how Sheffield could be hiding something from Reece. Love Bryant’s character the dominating male protector with a dark secret.

Well... what a rollercoaster.

First. To be honest it makes you horny as hell. Second. It is much longer than average DDLG romances are. Third. Its actually not that bad.

But oh my god is it naive... Like... for real... shes a former dancer and has no idea what a plug looks like. Shes even shocked to see one. Funny that one...
