Robert L. Allen is currently the senior minister of First United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. The author of four other CSS books, Allen previously served for 15 years as the senior minister of Wesley United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. While at Wesley, he developed a television ministry which reaches throughout Oklahoma and into three other states. Allen holds a D.Min. degree from Drew University, where his dissertation was on the religious use of television.

Robert Lee Allen is an American activist, writer, and Adjunct Professor of African-American Studies and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Allen received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, San Francisco, and previously taught at San José State University and Mills College.
