Based on the age-old story of Hades and Persephone, this tension-filled tale will leave readers begging for more

The Fates will not be ignored.

Terra was always bound to ascend the throne of Solaris despite her fondness for mischief and trouble. As the eldest sister, the duty was always meant to be hers. But when war threatens her shores, the fates have something else in store for her. Sacrificing her right to the throne, Terra makes the devastating decision to leave behind everything she knows in order to marry a mysterious King that rules a far-off land.

Orion resides in a castle hidden among the wilderness that gives him the chance to do what he does best: avoid people. He wouldn’t mind living out his days traipsing through the trees with his three furry companions, but life for the Keeper of Souls could never be that simple. When an offer of a trade deal and a proposal for marriage comes his way, he can’t help but accept and open his home to a spitfire Princess who turns his world upside down.

Fate brought these two together for better or for worse, and usually it’s for the worse. As they fight their budding feelings, Terra begins to notice that there might be more to the King that meets the eye and, in a shocking turn of events, she discovers his dark secret that challenges everything she thought she knew about the world. Orion and her must forge a new path forward despite new, and old, faces threatening to tear them apart. Will Orion and Terra be willing to pay the price? Or are they fated to fall?

I ended up dnfing this book around 50%. The concept for the story is amazing. I love a good retelling and I was excited about where the story could go. My only issue was when the main characters finally met. The entire week she was with him before the wedding, we don’t get to see many interactions between them. We’re told they don’t get along and they’re angry with each other though it’s no so clear why. They are hostile towards each other from day one for seemingly no reason. Then randomly, they start wanting to kiss each other. It’s very disorienting and I feel like if we spent more time with them and their characters were flushed out a bit more I would be able to understand their motives. I did also have an issue with the tense change between present and past tense. It didn’t feel intentional.

I fell in love with this book. I found this author by TikTok and immediately ordered this book. The two characters are amazing and while I knew that it was based on Greek Mythology, I am sad to say it took me a while to realize it was A re-telling of Hades/Persephone. I normally pride myself at figuring out the "villain" and the catches of a story but It wasn't until he said "I Am the king of the underworld" that it clicked into place. -- Can we also please ignore the fact that on the back cover it says "A Re-telling of Hades and Persephone". I can be special sometimes.

I have already ordered the second and I can not wait to dive into this story more. It is captivating and makes you want to root for the main couple. I enjoyed trying to figure out the symbolisms towards their greek counterparts and figuring out which God was represented by which people in the book.

This book was a little slow for me to get into but, once it got going, it was great. I wonder if there's more to come on the war on Solaris of if that part could have been shortened or just left out and it could have started with Terra traveling to Valarian which would have helped with the slower start. I'm excited to hopefully see more of Orion's family in the next books as well as getting a further picture on his background because most of it was still left unanswered for him even at the end. Although it is a Hades/Persephone inspired tale, I also got Beauty and the Beast vibes too. The powers Orion has are interesting and I'm left just wanting more. I'm excited to continue the story in the next books.

I absolutely adored how the Greek Mythology wasn’t completely in your face, and instead was super subtle throughout the book. It makes it a fun game to notice the details and notice the symbolism and hints at how the mythology influences this new world! Instead of being a straight forward Hades and Persephone retelling, it was a unique world and storyline inspired by the myths. A beautiful blend of Game of Thrones and Percy Jackson if you will!!

This quickly became my new favorite retelling and I can't wait to read the next one

My Two Favorite Characters

Terra and Orion quickly grew to become my FAVORITE new book couple. The way that they argue and constantly annoy one another, yet continue to fall in love with each other made me devour the book in one sitting. The twist at the end has me at the edge of my seat! Cannot wait for the sequel to come out

AMAZING NEW AUTHOR

This book was a brilliant combination of well-known Greek Mythology details mixed with world-building that rivals even the best of fantasy. The journey that Terra and Orion take through their relationship made me read it in one sitting! Cannot wait for the sequel

I have enjoyed other retellings of Hades and Persephone previously but this feel new and exciting. The description of the scenery and people make it easy to fall into the story. I quickly came to love each and every one of them in different ways.

This some Hades and Persephone vibes and little Easter eggs in my opinion. It has mythology, kingdoms, and arranged marriages. Follow Terra and Orion into their arranged marriage to create an alliance between their kingdoms.

I DNF'ed at 15%. I just couldn't get into it, as much as I love Hades x Persephone, I just couldn't get into it. I have an unnecessarily long TBR as is, and I didn't feel like forcing myself to read a book I wasn't vibing with.

It was a slow start for me as I was reading but about half way through that’s when it really caught my attention!

The ending threw me! And I’m so happy that I have the next boom already to read what is coming next!
