If you love Roman history, but wants some insight about how it was across the Roman border this is the book for you. It takes a tour from European barbarian tribes (which was quite civilised and loved warfare just as much as the Romans) all the way to India and China, puzzling archeology and ancient text into one intriguing story.
For an aged book, manages a very good balance of fact and framing. Not necessarily the most accurate today, but presented neutrally enough to not be much of an issue
