Lucy in the Sky Barbara Elsborg When you wake up to find a spaceship in your backyard, what do you do? Choose from three: Phone the police. Scream. Go yell at the alien for wrecking your garden. Lucy storms out of her house to confront the inept pilot and the last option turns out to be both the right and wrong choice when she finds the gorgeous hunk's name is Three. She's torn between fury that he's crushed her roses and decapitated her statue of Eros, and a longing that he enliven her boring life and whisk her to the stars. Three doesn't give her a choice when he throws her over his broad shoulders and takes her into space. Lucy soon finds herself exploring alien territory in ways she never imagined. Three's efforts to hide and protect her on the mother ship are stymied by his inability to keep his hands-and other body parts-off the luscious Lucy, and it looks as if her immediate fate might be a solo trip into space without a spacesuit. Reader advisory: Contains hunka-hunka-burnin' male/male sex scenes. Score!
Barbara Elsborg lives in Kent in the south of England. She always wanted to be a spy, but having confessed to everyone without them even resorting to torture, she decided it was not for her. Volcanology scorched her feet. A morbid fear of sharks put paid to marine biology. So instead, she spent several years successfully selling cyanide.
After dragging up two rotten, ungrateful children and frustrating her sexy, devoted, wonderful husband (who can now stop twisting her arm) she finally has time to conduct an affair with an electrifying plugged-in male, her laptop.
Her books feature quirky heroines and bad boys, and she hopes they are as much fun to read as they are to write.
Best BE book for me! Ever the outlier.....I found this book the best of Barbra Elsborg's books. I love Sci-fi erotica.....this one is the example by which I compare all others. It's a funny story, people......BE skillfully manages to hot up space, make it a little silly and emo and throw in some thrill ride bits all without losing the point of the story and that is Lucy. She is adorable and one of the best heroines I have ever come across.....There's a Wodehouse feel to all of BE's books that are set in England or space, for that matter ....and it is just charming...... Three's a memorable hero too and makes space travel sound really interesting, what's more, Lucy adores him and their romance is just too nice not to read again and again.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it very quickly. Lucy is a single woman who has no family left. She had a very close relationship with her father who passed away after sharing years of tending their English garden. When a spaceship ruins her garden, there is no question why she rushes out to confront the culprit. The hot hunky male, "Three", then abducts her and takes her to his spaceship but has to hide her.
Lucy in the Sky is a very sweet story. The story has sex, but also has love. Lucy is irrepressible. The aliens have no concept of love, but Lucy teaches them. She also teaches their genetically engineered workers about love, life, and happiness. She does all this with an abandon for living and through kindness and a sincere interest in everyone she meets. Lucy even wins over two rivals who wanted "Three".
Some small unresolved aspects to the story was Vileda's "queen" reference and her quick reversal of attitude. However, I'll be on the lookout for Ms. Elsborg's new fantasy/PNR book called Perfect Trouble.
Overall an okay read I liked Lucy . She is a tad bit stupid.Lets just call it impulsive and leave it at that. What i liked about here is that she is a chatterbox. Its fun to read what she talks and thinks . She is entertaining. The H is okay. He is the right amount of alpha , possessive and protective. I just wish this book had more to tell about the Mc's rather than the side characters. Hyll love story was not needed. It took away the spotlight for the H. Caleb the villain had a nice name which distracted me and i was not exactly scared of him. The smex is hot . BE is a good story writer . Its never boring to read her books. if i ever re-read this book it will be for Lucy and the smex and that it is written by BE. I thank my friend Stars to having rec'd this book, because i would not want to miss reading a BE book.
I really enjoyed reading this one. It's so amazing! Just like every Barbara Elsborg's works that I've had read, I also finished this in just one sitting.
I really adore Lucy. She's goodhearted, so cute albeit weird, and really funny.
Three...god, I love his name! (I have a thing with digits, haha) Three's the first alien/human that I loved. He's so sweet and I liked that he always try to make Lucy feel loved and comfortable.
Another great read. Very stressful though. Of course it works out but you don’t see how it could for the longest time. The world building is very different from any other book like this. Cold on purpose. And it’s never explained how his planet is cowboys backwards - syobwoc. Not a big thing, it means nothing, actually. But it bothered me every time I saw it lol. Loved the ending.
I love the "voice" of Barbara Elsborg's works - she can do emotion and passion, and smart, witty banter and make you really feel like friends of the characters in her stories, even if the plot is a little out there. And this plot is definitely out there, but it's a lot of fun, too.
Lucy Brilliant Sunshine Pineapple Princess Ferze discovers an alien has crash landed on her prized backyard plants. Rather than faint, call the cops, or freak out, she darts out back, accosts the alien, and then patches him up and cooks him breakfast. Lucy, as we soon discover when she's abducted by Three, our plant-collecting alien, is a 'fixer'. She sings to the plants on the space ship, she befriends the Worker Bots and Pleasure Bots and causes a near social revolution on the space ship. She's dingy. She suffers from what I call gumball head syndrome - whatever pops in her head comes out her mouth with no filter or stop. Surprisingly, she's lots of fun, too, and a main character I enjoyed.
This is a fun, zany book - scifi erotica that's well written and enjoyable. Kudos to Elsborg for another great read.
"Mine," Three whispered. "You're mine."... "Mine," he repeated,...
with that word I'm a goner...*sigh*:)
Cute, light, fun, and sexy x10(I mean it, its sex overload!;]) I had so much fun reading this! Love Three and Lucy, they're lovable characters...I Love Lucy, she might be talkative but she makes me laugh with her silliness even during sex and the way she talked to the plants was so cute and endearing. When she told Hyll about 'what is love' was truly heartfelt:D I adore Three, and how protective and possessive he was to Lucy in any way possible! their banter were hilarious, and I don't know how they find ways to have sex wherever they may be even in times of trouble Ha!:D I love the secondary characters Hyll and Zend..Wow! these two men were Hot...the pool scene was worth drooling for lol!:)
There were only two conflicts in the story: whether Three is human or an Alien and how to get Lucy back on earth...Although the story focus too much on the scorching Hot scenes, the Author did not forget the character development and I love how Three and Lucy grow with each other throughout the story...
It was an OK read The heroine Lucy has a terribly funny long name, she was very impulsive and I did like the hero and like reading his POV he is possessive and very protective of the heroine though he did not know why he had brought her with him. The idea, the plot and the world building wasn't bad but I feel like Hyll's love story with Zedan somewhat outshines the main couples love story and I don't know why if there is a need to read Velida and Caleb's POV. I'm not really even sure that Caleb was all that of a bad guy. Still it was a very fun quick read and a very refreshing one as it is very different from all the alien stories that I had read.
This Science Fiction Romance blends fun, zany humor, steamy love scenes and nail-biting suspense in an imaginative, can't-put-it-down package.
Lucy's antics often made me laugh out loud and Three was a compelling, charismatic (and sexy--did I mentioned sexy?) hero. There was even a secondary romance with a surprising twist.
I don't want to give away the many surprises in this story, but it is hands down one of the very best of its subgenre that I've read!
If I were Lucy, I'll run and never look back. But then again if the alien's as cute as Three, well.. Take me with ya! ;)
I was expecting a menage in this book, but didn't find one. That's okay, Hyll and Zend's relationship os more than enough. I can't wait to read another book of Barbara Elsborg!
I think when people pick up this book, they know to expect smut-mania, but in my case I picked it up mostly because I liked the cover and the title--as a Beatles fan, how could I not?
However, I quickly lost interest in it, and believe it or not it's NOT because of the bad writing--no, that was actually so bad that it was funny, reminding me a bit of Touched by an Alien, which I also found hilariously bad and rated 3 stars as a result.
No, the reason that I lost interest is, I think, because the sex happened just too early on in the story. Like...I would've been fine to a gradual build up of the smut, with maybe a lot of sexual tension that also gave us time to get to know Lucy and Three, but since the author opted for have-sex-first-ask-questions-later, all of the exposition into Three's character afterwards felt kind of useless since he was thinking with his cock before his brain in abducting Lucy in the first place. Like...his motivations aren't made clear besides the fact that, well...he's horny.
And that being said, even if we could excuse Three's horniness as being the main driving point of the plot, Lucy's reactions to everything are all over the place and...yeah. I mean, none of them make any sense except for when she tries to convince Three (with sex) that she's an "asset" to him and so he should keep her safe; and besides that, she switches gears from 0 to 10 so quickly that I just couldn't keep up or make sense of it. The hero was more compelling than the heroine in this case, and when it's the heroine who might be in real danger (I think, but I didn't read far enough to find out), then I should care more about her, yes?
Bottom line, this was interesting in the way it went down, so I'm giving it a neutral rating, but...yeah, in all of the genres it can stake a claim to, I've read better material elsewhere.
There is an interesting sci-fi story tucked in between a LOT of sex scenes. My limit is three sex scenes per book, so I ended up skimming past a lot of them. It is a testament to the author’s skill, however, that I was willing to keep skimming to get to the rest of the story. I actually wish there was a bit more.
It doesn't feel fair for me to say this but this is probably more of a 3 star read, but for alien abduction erotica, it's a four star as the plot was way more developed than I thought it would be and the characterization was pretty darn good too.
Quick Rundown: Super Quirky Chick finds an alien spaceship in her backyard. Of course, hot ass Alien Dude ends up disembarking and a funny little battle occurs before she is abducted. From then on, this became so much more than the typical alien abduction stories. To say more would be spoiling it for you.
Characterization: Very well done. Dude was extremely complex considering he came off almost like a robot to begin with. His background was a definite new spin, especially for an erotic novel. Chick was developed pretty well. She's one of those quirky, funny chicks but there were a few times I felt that was a little over the top and annoying but for the most part, I enjoyed her and she even made me chuckle a couple times. Secondary characters are few but they were well fleshed out. The Big Bad is no surprise but because of their position, you are always left wondering how the MC's are going to get away from them.
Plot: Like I said before, once Chick get's abducted, there was very little predictability. The alien culture itself was a new twist for me. What happened to the characters was new for me. I was never bored and a couple times was a little bit on the edge of my seat. Needless to say, I couldn't put this book down. The ending was pretty well done and satisfying though I would have liked to have a couple more direct scenes about the environment change for one of these characters. Sex scenes were plentiful, hot and nasty and not too many though I think I skimmed the last one because I'm getting a little "over" the obligatory sex scene at the very end.
Overall: A winner in my book. I would recommend and will be reading more from this author.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5 stars - but rounded up to 5 because I loved Lucy so much!
An alien space ship crash lands in Lucy's garden, ruining her flower beds, lawn and even decapitates poor old Eros! And from there on follows a funny, sexy, funny, sweet, funny, exciting and did I mention funny space journey? Lucy is nothing like any of the other abducted humans I've ever read about in any sci fi romance. She's my absolute favourite! If I ever get so lucky to be abducted by Four (please, please, please), I wanna be like her!
Now, my only complaint is that it was too much sex. I know, I know... I never thought I'd say that myself, but there you are. I shall even repeat it, IT WAS TOO MUCH SEX. Eh, who knew there even was such a thing?!?! Anyways, a couple of the humping scenes I could have done without. I didn't feel like they were needed and that it was a bit like watching an 80s porn flick, and that's what brought it down half a star for me. Also felt that Hylls sexual relationship described in detail wasn't needed. Here I would also like to point out that the m/m relationship mentioned in the blurb, is between Hyll and his partner Zand, nothing involving Three. Cause if you're like me (who don't like to share AT ALL), then you might have been a bit confused and hesitant to read this book, thinking the m/m was between Hyll and Three.
But after all, even though it all wrapped up a bit too neat and perfect, I still loved it and I especially loved the MC and Lucy's personality alone was worth a star by itself!!!
This was an amazing book. I couldn't put it down. This author just did an great job at weaving an imaginative tale that flowed smoothly to the end. I didn't get bored or lost or frustrated at any point and the words flowed from chapter to chapter. Now my laundry is seriously suffering because of it. :)
My recommendation is buy it and read it. That is if you like the same type of book that I do. I love a book that makes me laugh out loud, cry when sacrifices are made for or out of love, has a hot alpha male as well as hot alpha smexy action with his heroine and leaves you all warm, wet and fuzzy at the end.
The primary story line follows a M/F relationship but the author also gives you some insight to the M/M relationship of one of the leading supporting characters. I was slightly surprised at how much insight she gives since M/M and anal sex can make me hesitant about reading a book, but the author wove it in nicely and I honestly didn't mind. I don't have anything against it but I don't have enough imagination for it do much for me on paper.
Amazing book. Read it. :)
**I should add that there are a few minor details that didn't quite connect but they were very minor and easy to overlook. These tidbits are probably explained by the different character perspectives followed in the book.

When Lucy wakes up one morning to see a spaceship on her back lawn, she doesn't believe her eyes. Especially when she rushed outside to find it no longer there. But the damage to her back lawn remains. As she surveys her destroyed yard, she runs into something hard, and round, and invisible. A spaceship. And when a gorgeous alien exits the ship, her first reaction is to pitch the head of a broken statue at him.
Three had finished his mission to Earth, collecting plant species to study back on the Colonizer. But with the slip of his foot, he wound up skidding into a human property. And although the Earth woman beams him off the head with a chunk on concrete, he feels a strange connection to her. Although he knows she will not be welcome on the Colonizer, he brings her aboard his ship. That's when long dormant sexual feelings inside of him suddenly come alive.
What can I say about this book, but WOW! Not only is it a fabulous alien abduction story, but it is filled with smokin' hot scenes. The world-building, character development, and erotic scenes are all amazing.
Whether you read science fiction romance or not, this book is a must read. It will open your eyes to a whole new, wonderful world.
**This is an erotic romance with explicit scenes, including hetero and M/M loving, and even some F/F play.
When Three accidentally crashes his space ship into Lucy’s garden, he gets quite a bit more than he bargained for from the tiny Earth female. He’s so enraptured by Lucy that he smuggles her aboard the mother ship and hides her in a biosphere with the plants he collected from her world. Lucy’s loquacious ways soon infect the Worker B’s of Biosphere Seven with the heretofore unheard of disease of independent thinking. Upon discovering Lucy, sadistic Commander Caled thinks to turn her spirited ways in his favor by forcing Lucy to train with the Pleasure B’s. Unfortunately, Lucy also infects the Pleasure B’s with her mouthy, independent ways. Lucy desperately wants to remain with Three but life aboard the mother ship becomes increasingly difficult for her and survival less and less likely. Lucy in the Sky is a cheeky tale liberally salted with sexual encounters of all kinds. The story is very cute but make no mistake this is a work of extremely erotic science fiction.
After reading, and loving Elsborg's Power of Love I had to see what else she had out there. I found Lucy in the Sky and the blurb seemed right up my ally. Unfortunately, I was a bit let down. There wasn't enough background information about the alien culture that Lucy was introduced to, and Three's character seemed underdeveloped. The ramblings of Lucy were hilarious and the sex scenes were pretty darn hot, but I was expecting more. If you're looking for a book to make you giggle and get you hot without a whole lot of plot this is for you. I have days when I'm looking for books like this, but I guess yesterday just wasn't one of them.
Cute and sexy, 'Lucy in the Sky' made me laugh, and cry, on more than one occasion. It has everything I love in a book; great characters, romance, a bit of mystery, a lot of intrigue, scorching sex and a satisfying, happily ever after. Even without all the blazing sexy times, and there are a lot of them, this story is a hot romance. Love at first sight, mixed with hot alien intrigue, creative with adorable humor, if you love a sexy, romantic, funny story, you'll love this one!
Very nice! I liked the twist at the end when you discover who Three really is. And best yet the author kept going and let you meet his parents, then kept at it until he was reunited with his parents. Then the epilog, would have liked a longer one... but it's really hard to beat a 6 liner! lolz
I like Lucy and the witty banter between the characters. Miss Elsborg writes a fun, enjoyable story about an alien abduction. It also has the same theme all her books have, that is "There is no hope for us and we will die tomorrow so lets just have sex to bring on the memories". Anyway, the heading for each chapter is interesting and it summarizes most of what happen in that chapter.
Lucy is awesome, made me laugh right from the begining with her questions and comments. Her inner dialogues are just as hillarious as the vocalized ones; 'Did she still have all her faculties? Divide three thousand and thirty-two by nine. Er—nope, still couldn’t do it.' Three is also witty in his responces: 'You're not green''not the last time i looked'
OK ... I enjoy first 1/3 of this book and then it was like HUH?!?! ... I didn't like the "twist" with all this I'm alien and I feel human/I was abducted by aliens thing. But still you can enjoy the story and I can say it is well written ... so 2 and 1/2*
