Nine days before her thirty-seventh birthday, Michelle Burleigh was shocked to discover she might have mere hours left to live. Having spent years doubting her value and purpose, feeling like she never quite “fit the mould”, she immediately decided that if the universe granted her the opportunity for a second chance, she would live on her own terms.
The Road to Courageous Living inspires audacious living and gives you the tools to create a future you never imagined possible.
The Road to Courageous Living is a thought provoking journey from despair to hope and change.
This work takes readers on an emotional ride, following the harrowing journey of the author who discovers she has blood cancer, only when her time seems to be running out. This story shines a light on the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of adversity.
The race against time unfolds as she battles her way through weeks of intensive treatment and years of chemotherapy medications. This grueling journey paints a vivid picture of the physical and emotional toll of fighting a life-threatening illness.
However, it is in her darkest moments that the true essence of the book shines through. The author’s resilience and determination to overcome her circumstances serve as a beacon of hope.
This book is a must read that challenges readers to reflect on their own lives, urging us to seize opportunities and to not take anything for granted. It encourages us to question our own priorities and to find the courage to pursue the things that truly make us happy.
Reading Michelle’s book and the journey she has been on was fascinating on many levels. Michelle shares her experience with such honesty and vulnerability and while doing so she taught me so many lessons. This book touches on the shock and hope after being diagnosed with a life-threatening disease and its ripple effects on career, family, self-image and self-awareness as well as the complex challenges in our current healthcare systems. Surprisingly, this book had me reflecting on many aspects of my own life, including the vulnerability of growing up and the pressures and expectations from others that impact on our decisions about who we will be. An intensively engaging page-turner by an author who draws back the curtain on a life-altering journey – one I could only hope, if faced with, I could handle with even an ounce of the courage that Michelle showed and has continued to show in her continuing journey. I’m grateful for the emotional roller coaster this book provoked, tears, anger, hope and self-reflection. A very worthwhile read.
Reading this book has given me the gift of quiet reflection and permission to feel and think without expectation. Michelle shares her experience with unabashed honesty without ever being “preachy”. In this book, we see the gradual birth of an advocate - for patients, for women - leaving me wanting to know what comes next.
