Saving souls? Or chasing glory?

Father James’ bishop is determined to ensure he remains in permanent exile without pay. As a result, the cancelled priest is reduced to stacking shelves in the village grocery to earn a living.

He then discovers that his bishop ousted him without duly following Canon law.

Confident of being reinstated, he sends a letter of appeal to the Vatican. But the bishop mails a poisoned missive to Rome to ensure Father James’ appeal never gets heard. He then throws more pastors out of their parishes.

Father James senses God is calling him to help these cancelled priests. But how can he achieve this?

And can he successfully fight his unjust removal in Rome?

You will find yourself rooting for Father James as he strives to shepherd souls, not combat his superiors.

I truly enjoyed the 2nd book of a trilogy by Hillary Walker. I had already read the first book, "A Truthful Man", which did not fail to keep my interest. I was happy to see that Hillary Walker wrote a 2nd and 3rd book because readers were wanting to know what will happen to the main character, Father James.
Father James was the priest for a small parish in Northern England. He preached the truth, but because of his "divisiness" with his preaching, Bishop Marsen had Father James removed. Father James was forced to live in a bnb and work at the local post office and grocery store. Other characters came into Father James' life such as Mark, a crooked businessman and his wife, Mary who was a faithful Catholic. Mark was brought down by his own greed and lost his home, business, wife and adult children.
The 2nd book, " A Divine Truth" picks up after these events. Bishop Marden had many priests removed from their churches, and stopped their pay. All were destitute and had nowhere to go. Mark who had been left with no place to go was forced to live in the same bnb as Father James. With Father James' help, Mark became a new man. Both men worked together at the post office and grocery store. With so many priests being removed from their parishes not only by Bishop Marsden, but by other Bishops all across England and elsewhere. The two men, Father James and Mark, came up with a plan to help the many priests who had no where to go. How would Bishop Marsden respond to these plans? Would he be ok with canceled priests receiving help from faithful Catholics or would he try to thwart their plans?
This is an excellent book for middle school and high school students especially with the true Catholic teachings inserted by Hillary Walker throughout the books, which will lead to good discussions and a study of character traits, good vs. evil and other topics of faith and life.

A Divine Truth by Hilary Walker
This story follows the priests as they are cancelled from their positions at their rectories.
The bishop is the one in charge of that and his sister Mary starts investigating to learn what is going on.
Her spouse has also been ousted and lives with others in a boarding house. Like the plan of the canceled priest and their housing at the location where they can heal and better themselves.
Til the bishop has a medical emergency he can't see what's going on....
Love how Mary comes through with her decorating skills and having time for her ex-spouse.
Never thought story would end this way, WOW. Great contribution to society. Love scenery descriptions.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.

Like the previous story, this deals with corruption in the Church... This time it's more focused on the watering down of Scripture in order to not offend sinners. (News Flash: We are all sinners. It says so right in the Bible.)

And it tells of how the main character works with a few trusted friends to create a safe place for those priests that have lost their positions because they hold to Biblical truths.

I love the twists that come up .

ARC from Hilary Walker. I learned a lot about the Catholic religion and cancelled priests. it's unfair to watch innocent people suffer while doing good unto others. At least they have a safe haven at the Dominican Friary as well as the warm support of the King's Brambling and Popplesford residence. The book ends on a cliffhanger leaving the reader with an unbiased opinion what the future hold for everyone!

Truth

This book has made me realize that what is happening in my church, CA, USA, is happening all over the world. The message of Jesus is being watered down and we are expected to accept it or leave. God help us!

much food for thought

This is a very candid story about the present situation in the Catholic Church. I may not agree completely with all of this. However, the turmoil in the protagonist’s mind is very realistic. Great story. Much to think about.

Well done, Hilary WOW! I really hope the Catholic Church is NOT going through this! So much evil that the devil dishes out! Society or God – you choose! Government or God – you choose! Self-righteous or the BIBLE – you choose!

Not top-notch writing but a good story that holds the reader’s attention while addressing important issues. The principal characters are well developed. A good read recommended for all serious readers.

A good book. Even though I was given a copy of this book by the author, it in no way influenced my opinion and this is my honest review.

wonderful story.

Wonderful story, predictable but good. Very helpful to have read the first book ahead of time, it gives flesh to the characters.

Enjoyed this book. As a catholic here in the states, a lot of what occurred made me think of the politics that as laypeople, we are not aware of in our parishes and dioceses.

I was conflicted by this book because of its emphasis on luxury items. That is not the Jesus I know.
