The Book of Mormon Storybook for Little Saints is a collection of fifty Book of Mormon stories, adapted for children and parents. We focus on telling the story so that the characters’ humanity and the core doctrinal principles they depended on shine primarily, God so loved the world. This book is a manuscript (text-only) version of the illustrated print book.
While our book is primarily intended for young children, we have crafted the stories with the idea that it ought to be meaningful and inspiring for children as well as their parents. We want to help make the Book of Mormon a gathering place for family members of all ages.
For anyone trying to tell Book of Mormon stories to children, altering the text is unavoidable. A story teller must often decide between focusing on specific details or communicating the essence. With that in mind, the primary goal of this book is not to teach children a summary of events. Instead, we have focused on the artful re-telling of the stories themselves. And each story is driven by testimony—our testimony—which we have condensed into this single These are stories about a real God who loves real people.
We hope that by connecting to scripture more tenderly ourselves, and trying to show the humanity of its population gently, but honestly, our boy will begin to see and learn the goodness and grace of all the world around him. And that, perhaps, we may help others to see it too.
This book tells the stories of the Book of Mormon in order. The targeted audience is children, but the stories are engaging and is good for all ages. I like how they focus on how we can relate to each character and prophet. Sometimes we have a hard time understanding or being good and sometimes we have family members who do. Throughout the whole book, there are reminders over and over about how much God loves each one of us and that we can choose to follow Him. 5 stars.
I listened to this audiobook with my kids as a supplement to our Book of Mormon study, and we found it engaging, attainable for little listeners, and a really compassionate, beautiful interpretation of the text. It introduces analogies and connections I can’t stop thinking about, and there’s an unrelenting message that there is goodness everywhere, especially inside people.
A children's book written for adults, these series of short episodes from the Book of Mormon are beautifully written and full of insights into the prophets and their lives which I hadn't considered before. I don't agree with all the ideas they present, but it is certainly rich with ideas to prompt discussion. Worth looking into!
I liked reading this with my kids. I appreciated that it helped humanize characters and show nuance — that characters aren’t all good or all bad, and that bad choices are often driven from places of hurt and pain. I will say that reading it out loud, there were a lot of sentences that started with ‘And…’ which got annoying, but that’s a really petty criticism. 😆
I loved the audiobook version and wish I'd had this for my kids. I took the tip of listening to it all to get a quicker preview of the Book of Mormon before starting my Come Follow Me study for the year, and it was perfect.
Absolutely charming. I love the simple beautiful art of storytelling and the purity of the lessons, perfect for little ears and tender hearts. So many stories have brought tears to my eyes. A powerful motivator for me to hold family scripture study. The illustrations are wonderful too
Love how this book really makes people in the Book of Mormon come to life. They add details that make it easy for kids to imagine. My son loved it, and I really enjoyed listening to it too. I’ve seen a hard copy of the book & the illustrations are beautiful.
