This was my first book by this author. I found this book for free for Kindle, so I figured why not.

The author did a great job with the character development and world-building. I think the side characters are sometimes just as important as the main characters, so I truly appreciate an author that can keep that in mind with their books.

I wasn't aware there were other books to read before this one, so I did read it without the others. I was able to easily follow along either way, so I don't think it was necessary to read the others as well.
While this book is definitely a reverse harem, it was extremely unique and much different than the other RH books I've read. That's not a bad thing.
Our main character this book is Chad. Chad is a bar owner. His friend Ella responded to an ad AS him to be a part of main character Mady's harem, and he had no idea until the other members of the harem show up to "interview him." The harem isn't your typical everyone is in love and intimate type of harem, hence the title I suppose.

Each member of the "harem" and "not so harem" brings something unique and interesting ot the table. They all do adore Mady in their own ways, just mostly not intimate I guess?

I'll be looking into the other books int he series too!

This book is a standalone in a series of interconnected standalones. I haven’t read any of the other books and wasn’t lost at all and was able to read this one by itself just fine. I’m primarily a dark romance lover and didn’t think I’d enjoy this book that much but I ended up loving it! It’s cute and sweet with a lot of funny moments. The characters are all witty and have a great dynamic with each other.

Chad was just living his life and then his best friend answered a roommate ad on his behalf and the next thing you know he’s being interviewed to move in and be a part of Mady’s harem. He was unsure at first but Mady kinda swept him off his feet and before he knew it he was agreeing to give it a shot.

All of the characters in this book are great! All of the girls have different medical illnesses or diagnoses and I like that it keeps things more realistic. Plus, it’s great seeing their guys be overprotective and fuss over them lol The friendship/family dynamic between Mady and her harem that includes Lochlan, Chad, Caleb, and Isaac is really nice by the end. You will also enjoy her not harem members of Logan, Jarred, and Shamus.

This was a really cute book that will have you smiling and chuckling while you read it. There are some steamy scenes, witty banter, unicorn slippers galore, and so much love! Oh, and let’s not forget Mady’s parents that I swear are exact replicas of the parents from Meet the Fockers lol

I really liked that this was completely different to a lot of other reverse harem romances that I've read before. I hadn't read any of the previous books in this series of standalones, so the side characters relationships were all new to me, but personally I found it easy to pick up.

Chad is a local bar owner and unbeknownst to him his best friend Ella has applied to an ad on his behalf to become the newest member of Mady's harem. He finds out when three members of her existing harem come to interview him.

The part that I found really unique was that only one man in the harem was intimate with Mady, whilst the other two wanted her, but had their own problems to sort through.

Chad's dynamic with Isaac was fantastic. I loved how Chad brought him out of his shell and helped him work through his insecurities and gave him a way to move forward in his relationship with Mady. Their group scenes with Mady were really hot!

Lochlan and Logan (aka LoLo) were so funny together. Lochlan has been Mady's best friend since they were 10 and they've both been in love with each other for years, but Lochlan won't act on those feelings. Logan offered the comedy relief in this book and although him and Mady didn't have a romantic relationship he was definitely a key member of the not harem part of the group.

I also really appreciated how the authors handled Mady's mystery illness. She spends her life in and out of hospital with severe episodes with no answer as to why. It offered a new take on this romance genre and I liked how the harem worked together to care for Mady.

This book was a delight to read, offered funny moments and had a good amount of spice to keep me interested. Would recommend!

I liked the it but I was extremely confused throughout the whole book. The chapters ended very abruptly and the next chapter started in a completely different scene. For example the first chapter ended at the bar, before Chad met Mady and the second chapter started with her waking up beside Chad after being out drinking with him. It was hard to focus on the story when I was trying to figure out what I’d missed between chapter.

I should have read the other books beforehand, Ella’s medical issues weren’t discussed in a lot of detail. If I had read her book before I would have had better understanding and connection to the characters. It was a bit frustrating how confused I was at all times.

Otherwise I liked the relationships a lot, and I liked how different they were.

Very rarely will I rate so low, this book was recommended to me, I thought why not.. it's on KU.

The plot is average at best, character development is poor, the "big reveals" are done in such a way that they are rushed and no real depth put into them, the conflicts are average and the timeline isn't clear at all. It jumps days then months and you really have no idea how much time has passed.

Chad: and his not harem

I always love a good friends group dynamic when reading RH/why choose. And this had plenty of it. There is some good humor as well. This is the first book I'm reading in this standalone series. I may eventually go back and read the others.

Super cute story line!

FMC has a chronic illness and her “not harem” supports her through it. I love this book! Felt like a fun rom com RH style.

This was really freaking cute. FMC Mady is hugely relatable. I loved that this book contained a FMC with an undiagnosed chronic illness. We don't see it often-but it's always super refreshing when we do because it's so relatable.

Her men are an absolute hot mess.

Issac: Nerdy boy with stalker tendencies and impotence issues. Again, relatable and there's no shortage of tasteful discussion and support from the harem about his issue. In fact, one of the harem members ends up being a coach (of sorts) and helps Issac work through the root cause and past trauma.

Chad: He's so adaptable that he's practically playdoh. My man Chad wastes no time in just fitting right in and rolling with the punches.

Caleb: Mady's doctor and medical advocate. He goes above and beyond to help and diagnose Mady through her issues.

Lochlan: Oh Loch. Poor Lochlan has more commitment issues than an issue of Cosmo. He eventually gets his act together, but not without some serious hard work.

The *not* harem was equally hilarious. Overall, this book was super fluffy and fun.

I love the new hope series so far and chad story was not different the main reason I love all these books has nothing to do with the romance I love all these character in there own and adore there friendships and support they all show each other the individual romances is just a bonus.

Again really like the unique illness show in the book and the struggle of not being diagnosed and the stress it can bring to relationships and friendships is one of the best things about these books and I love the authors doing it in a very respectful and graceful way it’s what makes this series stand out.

This book I thought had a lot more spicy scene in the book then the first two in the series which I appreciated it was nice to see Mandy’s alone time with all the boys and the separate differences that each boy gave her to make her love them that the other boys didn’t and was really nice to see them all become a family and how chad coming into the mix really did help them all.

Can’t wait to read the next one.

I love this series. Even though they’re all technically standalones, they’re so much better read in order. Mady is sweet, funny, and loving. She lets her guys overprotect her because she knows it makes them feel better. Chad is not sure what Ella has gotten him into, but he decides to give it a go. He becomes part of Mady’s harem and her unconventional family. We have Isaac, in love with Mady but terrified of intimacy. Lochlan, self proclaimed sex addict, in love with Mady but scared he will hurt her so he refuses anything but best-friendship. Caleb, loves Mady but is finishing up his residency and therefore rarely around. Enter Chad once these 3 decide their girl needs another boyfriend to meet her physical needs. We get a lot of Ella in this, which I love. Her friendship with Chad is awesome. Logan, Shamus, and Jarred, the not-harem members that Mady loves but only platonically. Another fantastic addition to this series. I can’t wait for more!

***3.5 Stars***

This book is a co-write with Amber Davis and Jaye Pratt. This is a standalone but is part of the New Hope series from Amber Davis. This is my first book from Amber Davis so I haven't read the other books in the series. I will say that I would recommend reading those other books first if you want more background on some of the side characters that you will see in this book.

Mady is surrounded by men but the majority of them are not sleeping with her for a variety of reasons. I absolutely loved Chad and Isaac in this book and wanted more of them! All of the guys in this book, even those who are part of her "not harem" are so protective! I think his overly protective/stalkerish vibes are why I absolutely fell for Isaac.

This book is not as steamy as other books from Jaye Pratt, but there are still some steamy scenes as the book progresses. This is a very quick read so give it a try!

This is such a different take on why choose which was fun because I read soooo much of it, but I didn't love it.
My favorite part was definitely the disability representation. It was written so realistically.
I had a really hard time getting past how separated everyone was. They were all connected via Mandy but seemed to barely be friends. When has adding a person to a relationship ever been a good idea? I also couldn't get past one of the mmcs sleeping around with different for years but refusing to be present for the girl he continued to call his end game. It all kind of seemed up to Chad to fix everyone's issues. I really liked Isaac but wish his issues were addressed more - it was really fucked up and it's given like a page of explanation.
However all the issues I felt while reading didn't make me want to stop. I was invested in the characters and their story and I think that definitely shows it had a good writer. Idk if I'll read anymore in this series though.

Quirky, Adorable, Strong case of "the feels"

This is my first time reading something by either author. This was a recommendation in an FB group and the blurb just caught my attention and made me curious. I couldn't tell if it was going to become a why choose, or eventually turn into a MF but the handful of reviews were so positive and talked about how sweet and spicy this was that I knew I needed to give it a try and as I sit here writing a quick review, I have to say this was absolutely delightful. So much so that I think I need to buy this one for my permanent library. Although a relatively simple plot, something about there characters and the absolute absurdity of certain moments to the heartbreak of others tells me this is one I will need in my reread rotation. So glad I reshuffled my tbr and brought this to the top.

I'm a huge fan of Amber Davis' previous books, so I was super keen to read this one!

This is a co-write with Jaye Pratt. I get nervous reading co-writes as they can sometimes be clunky where it's obvious when the author has changed. However, this book doesn't have that problem at all, it all flows beautifully.

This book is part of the New Hope world, and the story was a great addition to the previous books. I really love the characters that were introduced, and enjoyed their dynamics.

Compared to Amber Davis' previous books, this one is higher on the spicy scale. However, every encounter adds to the story and flows naturally.

All in all, I absolutely loved this book.

I can't wait for the next one!

Cute RomCom whychoose

I love how incredibly sweet this story is and I can say that I'll definitely be going back and reading the standalones that are interconnected to this book. I love Mady, and how much strength she has. Although I don't suffer the way she does, her thoughts on Chronic pain sufferers/ those with chronic conditions was relatable and I couldn't agree more. Chad I loved, he was my favourite, especially out of Mady's men but I loved how much they all love and care for her. I love how different this story is, I loved the humour and I loved all the quirky characters, in the harem or not. It's a really enjoyable read, and will have you giggling at times. Definitely recommend!

I am really enjoying this interconnected series of standalone books. I love how all the guys fuss and protect the ladies in their life and it is packed with humour along the way. LoLo are brilliant and I cannot wait to read Logan's book to see another side to him.

Chad was a much needed addition to the not a harem. His character connect's to each of them on different levels and his relationship with Issac is lovely.

These authors have done brilliant to highlight pain and suffering that undiagnosed or rare conditions can bring still with a strength to overcome everything and enjoy everyday life.

This was a fun interesting take on a RH. I really like how protective all of the guys in Mady's harem and her non harem are over her, especially Isaac. Each of the guys, even the one's who are not romantically involved are well thought out characters with very distinct characteristics, I sometimes find with a large ensemble some of the voices sound the same but that was not the case here. I have read books by Jaye Pratt but not by Amber Davis, so this is the first book I have read in this series but I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. Overall this was a quick fun read with some spice.

A sweet and funny standalone RH romantic book. It is part of intertwined books in The New Hope series. It's a different spin on the RH books that I've read before being that it starts off with Chad slotting into an already established RH relationship with Mady (FMC). I loved the individual guys as well as the non-sexual ones too. Omg Logan had me dying laughing throughout this book. He was an absolute riot. It was definitely a diverse variety of guys that Mady had. Mady herself was full of smart wit and sassiness which she needed with everything that she went through in this book. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a brilliant read

This is a standalone story within a series. You do not need to have read the earlier books, but the characters from them do appear in this one.

Chad's friend Ella applies for a house share on his behalf, only it comes with a potential girlfriend and 3 brother-husbands!

Mady has some health issues and has attracted several guys who want to help look after her, in various ways.

I loved all the banter in this book, it's full of crazy people and situations and you can't help but laugh along. It was great how they managed to navigate living together, each having different relationships with each other.

There is plenty of steam, no MM, but some MFM.

This was a cute read. It was a fun take on the RH/why choose genre. I liked the whole "not harem" and harem making up our groups found family.
It was cool to read about Madys relationship with all the guys (her not harem included) it almost seemed more realistic to most RH stories with the daily struggles they all dealt with to keep up with their relationships individually and as a group.
While you can read this story as as a standalone the side characters involved have their stories discussed often and at times I felt a little lost and was kicking myself for not following reading order. I will be going back to read the first two at some point when my brain decides it's time for them.

Aw. This is the first time I have read an Amber Davis book and the plotline really drew me in. I loved all the interpersonal relationships, I really didn't have a favorite. If I absolutely have to pick its Isaac, I'm always a sucker for the nerd lol. I love how they each have their own hurdle to overcome with Mady and I loved her vulnerability. The way these stories interconnect in the background to the other stand alones that is still happening and I feel like it really helped get me on board with this one. Was great and I will read the next one whenever that may be!

This book overall is so hysterical and awesome to read the relationships are so sweet and friendly with each other the characters are so funny and romantic with each other also the chronic illness representation in my opinion is absolutely amazing the chronic illness representation means that all people in my opinion can relate to this book instead of just some I also really love that the characters are interconnected such as Ella from the second book being in this one which is so sweet because I loved her so much and this character as well along with Yasmine

This is a standalone read in a series that link together but you don't need to read the others to enjoy this book.
Having not read the previous books myself either, I dove in head first and boy what a ride it was. Chad as a character was well written and everything Mads needed.
Throughout this books twists as we see Chad accept everything he was so unsure of at first, and Mads putting her foot down in many ways. To the amount off hilarious scenes along the way. To such a great ending Mads and her guys deserved

Chad’s best friend answers a want ad for him, and when 3 guys walk in to interview him, his life is flipped. I loved the harem and the “not-harem”. I also loved that each character felt real and was dealing with real issues. Mady has an unconventional harem - each of the guys in the harem have their own quirks and probably wouldn’t be friends if not for Mady. I love her “not-harem” of platonic relationships. I haven’t read the other

This was such a fun book to read! It's full of humor right from the beginning but also the characters are dealing with their own real life issues as well. Mady and her harem/not harem suck you in right away and you can't help but love all of them! I went back and read the other books in the series first even though this is a standalone and it was definitely the right move! Hope to see more from this world!

I read the counterparts a while ago and based on the summary put this one off. I regret that now. A very easy read, linked slightly to the previous books (enough to answer questions I was left with, not enough that it was extremely necessary to have read them first) but a whirlwind of its own. Keeping track of the characters proved a challenge for someone who often reads while watching TV, but it was engaging enough that I turned the TV on mute! Highly recommend as a light, easy read.

I usually stick with dark romance, but every now and then I need something light, and this was it. I loved everything about this book, it was sweet and heartfelt. I do wish before I read it I would have went back and read the prior books, just so I could get some of the characters better. This was a new (to me) author and I can’t wait to read more from her!

I liked it , but could'nt really get onboard with one of the guy sleeping with different girls every week and still expecting the fmc to be his endgame. And yes i know he's a sex addict, but like Ella said he didnt even try and he hurt her so much. Can't really get behind it, Issac i can understand and respect cause he didn't sleep with other women

Reverse harem with disability representation.

Amber has done it again, I absolutely love her books and the disability representation in them. This one particularly hit home with everyone one fusing over the FMC and treating her like she could not care for her self. I lie. The character development of the FMC and the confidence she gains is absolutely amazing. There were a few spot where it was hard to keep track of who was talking and what was happening but over all the writing and the pacing of the book always great.

This is a stand alone book in an interconnected series that I highly recommend each book is amazing.
