Because one look is all it takes to trigger a werewolf's mate hunt.
And when a wolf is hunting, he doesn't stop until his mate either dies or becomes a wolf too.
Now I'm trapped in some guy's house, he's stuck in his wolf form, and there's no way out for either of us.
Life as I knew it is over, but my fight to survive is only beginning.

I probably would have given the rest of the series a better go but I really disliked Tea. How can you say you want to be a nurse but have never dressed a wounded anything? Lacking the absolutely most basic skills of being a nurse but apparently very intelligent??? I'm really not sure about this scholarship thing.
She called Jessie shallow because he was handsome, not because he said or did anything. Yet was quick to change her mind when found out about his college major and that he had money. Pray tell who is shallow here?
If anything I'd say the heroine is so stubborn its to the point of being obtuse. If she can't retain any spelt out information about being a werewolf and keeps acting like she didn't know ..... I seriously question whomever gave her that scholarship. If you have half a brain and knew your life was irrevocably changed, one would soak up that info faster than Spongebob.
3 stars because it is a different concept about werewolves.
DNF at 30 % it's crazy because I thought of the scenario and it had all the potential in the world but the writing and the characters ruined it for me. The mean Girl isn't just annoying but she's actually a little bit privileged in ways she doesn't even see or think of because she thinks she's poor.... The biggest turnoff about the female main character was her internalized misogyny. She just seemed to blow hot smoke about her independence and then completely chucked it all out the window. And I don't care what anyone says any guy thinking he can just come in your life take over tell you what your new routine's going to be what you're going to eat what you're going to do and and that's supposed to be sexy it's really just not.... The characters ruined the entire book for me.
Overall, I liked the mythology this is working with because it’s not just insta-love shifter romance. The wolf is separate from the human, the shifts aren’t easy, and these characters are young and not necessarily rich and carefree. There’s not a lot of worldbuilding but enough to give this shifter series a twist.
There’s four couples in this and my fave is probably Del and Rocco, third book, best character development. Least fave is Zed and June, because it tried to give her a darker backstory to explain her reluctance but didn’t execute it, so in the end I knew little about her and didn’t care for her at all. Too much telling and not enough showing, basically.
Anyway, I enjoyed enough that I want to see what happens with the other members of the pack, so onto the next volume.
Was it cheesy? Yes Was it funny? Sometimes Was it good? Absolutely not Did I still enjoy reading it? Well I finished it so I guess so. I could write an essay on all the things I didn't like, that were poorly executed, that forced the story along, that took the option of love away from the characters (I mean seriously, every this forced, they'll spend their lives alone and die without each other, etc. there's not really an option other than for them to get together whether they like it or not) but I'm not going to go into details about it. It's an interesting take on mate bonds and my version of trash tv. I don't mind indulging every once in a while.
A cute read, sure, but I’m on chapter 27 of the first book and… where are the true feelings? Where are the tears? The frustration? The anger at being plucked from your life to become a wolf’s mate? Where’s… anything besides her messing around with him and being stubborn? How’s she studying to become a nurse but hasn’t dressed a wound yet?
Even Ebony’s book is kind of the same and I’ve DNF’d it ten chapters in. Sigh.
I used my monthly credit on audible to listen to this book set (1-4) and have many regrets.
This was my first book by Lola Glass and it brought a new and rather questionable premise to the existing fated mate trope in werewolf books. All werewolves are born male and the wolf chooses their mate triggering “the hunt” which essentially means a shift will be forcibly triggered and they will be stuck in wolf form as they hunt/ stalk their mate until said mate accepts their fate to be bitten and will either turn or die. Once turned the female wolf will then decide if the male is worthy referred to as “the chase” and if deemed worthy will return the bite for the final phase “the climax” aptly named as it is basically a 24/7 sex-fest.
Book 1: Thrown to the Wolves.
The story of Tea 🫖 and Jesse 🐺 Unfortunately, the FMC is quite the shallow bitch, and not very likeable at all, with an immature level fixation on the fact werewolves remain virgins until meeting their mate. Our very first introduction to Tea is her inner monologue judging the wolf pack for ordering sandwiches at the shop she works at and being attractive (a crime in her mind as she immediately decides they must all be dumb football playing assholes because of their looks and she only likes hot nerds.) Despite the less than ideal introduction, Tea does prove to be quite resilient given the kidnapping ordeal but unfortunately shows minimal growth throughout the story. Side note of Tea being a nursing student apparently smart enough to have a full ride scholarship but didn’t know the first thing about basic first aid, really soured my feelings toward her. The MC is hard to truly gauge as he spends majority of the story as a wolf that exists as a separate entity to the human, but understands the mate process is a terrible experience forced upon the human mate and tries to alleviate the stress she must feel by proving a house, money and everything needed to start a home.
A decent introduction to a new series that clearly shows the mating process with some pretty meh main characters.
Book 2: Taken by the Pack
The story of Ebony and Ford. By far the best FMC of the 4 books in this set and the only one that isn’t a raging bitch, the bar is unfortunately quite low. Ebony is hard working, studious and feels better with plans and structure, something Ford not only notices right away but also acknowledges and embraces whole-heartedly. Their relationship has an advantage as not only did both Ebony and Ford have a pre-existing attraction to one another but Ebony also has Tea to, sort of but not really, help her understand what is happening and introduce her to the wolfy world. Once again the FMC had a super weird and highly immature reaction to finding out the MC is a virgin that honestly made me think the author is 15 and this was a Wattpad book from 2014.
Definitely my favourite book of the 4 in this set, Ebony and Ford had a very sweet relationship and were both likeable characters.
Book 3: Trapped with the Werewolf
The story of Del and Rocco. My second least favourite book, Rocco was such a likeable character is books 1 and 2 so it’s very unfortunately he got Del as a mate. Del was way too quick to accept the mate bond on a “purely platonic” level the second she found out the mating comes with a house and then planned to keep him in wolf form for as long as possible even going so far as to name wolf Rocco “Rocky” which felt slightly dehumanising and definitely made Del not as likeable on principle alone, her saving grace is that she does then concede to accept the mate bite in order to help Rocco’s brother showing she does in fact have a good heart. The switch in their relationship happens instantaneously with no real build up, one second Del is insisting they’re only platonic mates and the next she’s declaring her love and organising a wedding.
My issue with this book wasn’t really the characters, so much as the quality of writing, or rather the lack thereof. For reference the book itself is 298 pages and the word shit was used 127 times, I don’t have a problem with cussing but by the START of chapter 3 it had already been used 17 times and again felt like a Wattpad book written by a 15 year old.
Book 4: Tracked by the Beast
The story of June and Zed. Honestly by now I’ve checked out, I’m only half listening and again don’t like June. I pushed through the previous 3 books despite not liking them very much but can no longer commit.
Overall thoughts - I don’t think the author knows how to write a likeable FMC that isn’t a presumptuous, shallow caricature reminiscent of the awkward quirky character circa mid 2010s. that goes out of their way to make a situation more uncomfortable by announcing “I’m awkward!” any time there’s a lull in conversation.
It’s also incredibly hard to develop a good relationship for a romance when the MC is a wolf for a good portion of the book.
I am comfortable saying this will be the first and last Lola Glass book or series I ever read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Tea is an 18 years old nursing student who works in a sandwich shop where she makes sandwiches to the customer'specifications. She has been raised to follow a budget strictly as money does not fall from trees.
Jess is a young werewolf who studies to become a computer engineer and is currently in search of his human mate.
One night, Jess and his pack are in the neighboring town and enter the sandwich shop. As they order, Jess comes upon Tea and, just the sight of her, cries mate as his eyes turn red and he starts to shift into a werewolf right in the shop.
Tea is frightened and tries to run away but is captured by the pack, abducted and taken to Jess's house in the neighboring village.
Book 2
Ebbony is a 19 years old nursing student who spends her time studying and loves the town's sandwich shop. One night, she goes there to ea and meet with her former roommate and friend, Tea who now resides in another town and is mated to Jesse , a warewolf. While she is there,
Ford comes in and his eyes turn red as he shifts into his animal form and has to be restrained by the rest of the pack members. In the meantime, with all the attention that this is getting, only one solution is left and Tea particpates in the abduction of her friend.
Fortunately, things go faster with Ford than Jessee.
Book 3
Del is a University Music Graduate who just got fired from her job as " Hall room Monitor of the Girls University Dorm" and, who has also been kicked out of her place, is living in her car unless she finds a new job and a new place to live asap. Currently, she has just arrived at Ebony 's Bbq party where she plans to eat free food and make herself as unknown as possible o the rest of the crowd there. Fat Chance.
Rocco, usually a easy going funny werewolf, has just been through a major loss and is sitting quietly at a table in Ford's backyard. Currently a history teacher at the local High School, his brother recently got rejected by his mate resulting in him going bonkers and posing a threat to his pack and being taken to the forest for "disposal" never to be seen by the rest of the werewolves and causing his parents a tremendous amount of grief that Rocco is left to deal with for himself and his parents.
At the sight of Dell, his eyes turn red, the shifting starts and he utters one word "Mate" .
The rest of the pack knows the drill but are still surprised when they see Del escape the custody of her friends Tea and Ebony and rush to Rocco's side to try to alleviate the suffering Rocco is going through.
This is Del's ancd Rocco's story and it is worth reading
Book 4
June is a video making world traveller who just got back to the Country to attend her sister's wedding. Having commitment issues as well as male trust issues, she is not happy that her sister went and got married and wastes no time in telling her. However, two things happen: 1) her sister Del is no longer a push over and 2), she is literally caught off guard when a certain male goes all warewolf on her and stares at her with glowing red eyes. The kicker is when he looks at her and calls her "Mate". It doesn't take anymore than that to have her jump into her truck and hightale it out of there .
Zed, usually a grumpy werewolf, has just been doing his job and. being a chef, has cooked up a feast for the entire pack on this special occasion. The last things he expects is to a) meet his mate and b) end up chasing after her when she flees the party like if a mad dog was after her. In his case, the kicker is that the worldly chase will last close to one year.
At the end of this period, June, who hasn't missed the fact that a warewolf has been chasing her in her worldly travels, calls it quits and returns to the small town, at Zed's house and the adventure begins.
This is June's and Zed's story and it is worth reading with it's powerful message..
I discovered this author not so long ago through books she wrote and sort of fell under her spell. She has a special way to creating stories about the paranormal with the main characters engaging in dialogs with a funny attitude under the worst circumstances and using sass and witt that made this reader laugh at certain moments during my reading this story, while also keying up my interest in the plot as well as reactions from all the characters the author uses in her story.
The series turned into a page turner that I highly recommend with a rating of 5 Stars. If I could give it ten stars, I would.
When I say I devoured this book, I mean it — I read the entire first book in a single day and didn’t finish until 2 a.m. My husband was not impressed to see me still glued to my Kindle 😅. But honestly, it was worth every minute because I just couldn’t put it down.
I’ve never read a werewolf book quite like this one. The twist on the typical werewolf romance is so refreshing and unique, and I think that’s a big part of why I loved it so much. It’s easily one of my favorite reads.
And just wait until the climaxes…😉 I won’t spoil a thing, but trust me — you’re in for a treat. You won’t be disappointed.
I made this review a week after I read these 4 books, I’m already on the 6th book in the other set so I can’t give too many details like I’d want! So no spoilers here lol! But get this book immediately you won’t be disappointed.
18+, XXX. Adult content, reader discretion. four books. Four couples. All with mental health issues ranging from anxiety to depression. These are cute quick reads. Most are between 4-6 hours each. There is only one mate for a male werewolf. If rejected he dies. One chance to not loose their shot at life, love and sex. Each couple has an entertaining story. I think Rocco and Dell are my favorite couple. I felt bad for Zed and June. Their story is a bit depressing. Jesse and Teagan were the funniest. Ebony and Ford were the most normal in a paranormal world. I hope Ryder finds a second chance even it's never happened. I have read about the feral pack. I know a few get two shots!
I really enjoyed this set of stories, and the cliffhanger at the end makes me want to read the next one for sure. There's just something about fated mate stories where one of the parties has no idea what's going on that makes them so much more exciting for me. I love a good "wolf/human (What? This can't be real!!!), chase, prove himself, save her and claim her" story, and this provided that formula well. I agree that June and Zed's story wasn't as feeling-provoking as the rest, but I totally enjoyed these stories as a group. I'm headed out to start the next set of books.
Overall, I appreciated how understanding and respectful the wolves were all things considered. They knew going in that this would be hard for the women. I thought it was interesting that the wolves are separate completely from the humans. I thought it was cute that the women fall for the wolves first (mostly) before the men. Some of them were just adorable. I wanted more character development across the board.
After reading the first story in this box set, I was a little concerned that the author had basically written herself into a corner and had to follow the exact same formula with the rest of the books. But she added enough twists and different personalities that I did enjoy the other three stories and will probably go on to the next set. Definitely not for young readers,1his is spicy
This was different to what I was expecting to be honest. I thought oh here we go, your typical werewolf mate stories but nuh uh not even close. This 4 part story was refreshing. I really enjoyed this. Give it a read because I ain’t dropping any hints about what happens 😜
These stories were fun, sexy and entertaining. The characters are interesting and different and fun to read. Lola Glass is a wonderful writer with a great imagination. Thank you Lola for writing this series and I love reading all your stories and look forward to reading more of the Mate Hunt.
Was happy that this series popped up. I got mired down by sickness but the ever patient Zed just sat down and waited three weeks for to get better. He didn't get angry or wander away. When I was able to come back he was there. Gotta love a smoking hot Sigma!
As always, Lola Glass has created characters that have you wanting to read on and on. Funny, sassy, strong women. Drool worthy males. These stories have you wanting more, and I am really sad that I have finished the 4 books. I can’t wait to find out about the inmates male and females stories. I absolutely love the worlds Lola has created.
I couldnt remember what these were called, but wanted to reread them. Just by chance, I came across the boxset. I am songlad I did. I like that these are different. It is a totally different way to do the fated mates thing. I read a lot of shifter books, but this one sticks with you because it is different.
So these books are about trashy women wanting a man to take care of them.I read 3 of the books so I would be fair in my review. The men are werewolve/virgins that saved money for their mates and that is why the women stay with them, for the money. So don’t waste your time reading these like I did.The author has other books I’ve read that are really good, just not these.
I seriously loved this book! I read the whole thing in less than 24 hrs the stories kept me pulled in that much. The characters are all very well developed and I grew attached to them all. I love how the stories all intertwine with each other and throughout the rest of the stories we see the other couples.
Although all 4 books are about finding your mate they tell the tales in different ways. Held me engaged right the way through. So glad there's more to come! Thoroughly recommend
Eventhough this was four books in one, it was a wonderful quick read! I truly enjoyed this series and I will definitely be continuing with the next bookset in this series!!
As this is four in one book you are really able to get invested in the group of people and each couple each book is about. I would definitely recommend this read
This series was so much fun to read. I love that the characters have depth without getting into too much detail that it creates anxiety. Every story is a fun read with characters you love. Lola Glass is a master at this.
Four wonderful, swoon worthy, strong characters, and happy ending books! I love all four books! They all have so many good parts, I couldn't pick a favorite couple. Love it!!
I really liked how the characters had to work through their fears and vulnerability to find love. There wasn't long winded drama or obnoxious sex scenes which I also liked. Great read and now looking for more Lola Glass.
