Lads Cry Too: and that's OK

Rate this book
We Cry Too is a collection of poems written over a three-year period.

During this time my life had hit the rocks once more.

Various family challenges led to me experiencing my most troublesome period of mental health issues since 2016 when I had my most serious mental breakdown.

This one was different, in that I felt like I was constantly in a battle. Everything seemingly came in a carefully co-ordinated universal attack that saw me fighting one crisis after another and often three or four battles at the same time.

To add to the impending doom Covid 19 took over the world leaving me to consider if I was going to make it through.

I did make it through.

Using art and poetry I was able to express how frustrated and angry I had become at the world, myself and those around me.

Of course, “it rains on the righteous and the unrighteous” but, if you have ever experienced a mental health episode, none of that matters, no-one else gets it, no-one can help you with your pain.

Art and Poetry allowed me to right some of the unrighteous universal wrongs and ultimately come out the other side, battle weary but alive.

Hopefully by sharing these poems you may find something that gives you hope.
It is ok to feel down, to feel hopeless but it’s also ok to recover, to feel love and to live again.
