I like that there's a story to accompany the colorful illustrations and the glittery hats. I enjoyed "meeting" each of the characters, and pointing out what type of animal they were. I don't get why the main character Matt the dog changes colors throughout the book from yellow to green to red to blue, and am still not sure what his true color is supposed to be. I did like touching the glittery hats, and learning about the concepts of big, tall and flat.
This is purely an emotional review - my friend gave my sons this book for their first birthday and we read it until it had to be tossed away five years later. It's a cute book, but mostly I remember how the boys learned to sing-song their way through the words. Very cute.
