So adorable omg. I find long-haired Benny more handsome though. I love everything about this, even the art style is topnotch, and the couple is such a delight!!
The artstyle is SO pretty I can just stare at it all day. And the premise alone got me hooked; it isn't your typical BL since it's about a shoemaker and a fallen (and barefoot) angel whom he eventually lives with and makes shoes for. Their domestics scenes were also v adorable.
However, if I'm being honest, the story and characters are not too well-developed. It's understandable since the main story itself is only 5 chapters long, but everything kinda went too fast after chapter 4; consequently, the main character's romantic development felt somewhat rushed and wasn't all that organic. Their backgrounds weren't explored well, either, so I didn't get too invested. But it's still a good read and still has potential for growth if there will ever be a second volume.
Oh, this was beautiful! I think what I liked the most about the story is how both Turner and Benjamin had exactly what the other needed. I loved how insistent Turner was about making the shoes Benjamin would use to travel and he did. They were the cutest.
Also the way Turner was hesitant many times throughout the story but his heart always knew to trust Benjamin. Or Benjamin who didn’t know what he was feeling but still couldn’t help but kiss his forehead. Cute cute cuteeeee.
Cute and I loved the art style, but the start was a bit odd (who just takes a complete stranger home and never calls the doctor about supposed amnesia?) and the drunken sex scene was a bit questionable. An interesting read for sure!
3.5 stars. Liked this quite a lot! Would have liked it more if it didn't have the spicy scene in it, but that's just personal preference... The art was really pretty as well!
A very short, warm story. I picked it up because I loved the cover and to my own surprise, I wasn't disappointed. Maybe I didn't like how things got rushed towards the end (that's why 4/5), I'd like it being a bit longer so I could learn more about the characters. It was a pleasant, nice read. I'd say it's like wrapping yourself with warm blanket on a cold day. If you look for some light story which is nice to read, and to boost your spirit a bit, I'd recommend it.
i love fallen angel stories! though—this one isn’t the kind that’s full of corrupted lust. (shoutout to intoxicating love fr🤞gotta one of my favorite sins. 🙏)
this is a bl manga about benny, a fallen angel with a very unserious english name, and turner, a reclusive british shoemaker (cobbler?) who meet by chance one cold winter’s day. the two decide to live together until turner finishes making benny a pair of shoes that will allow him to set off on his travels to visit the sea for the first time.
i really enjoyed the atmosphere of this manga—very warm and domestic. ♡ BUT, unfortunately, neither main character really feels fully developed. they’re both missing… something. i guess with benny it makes more sense because he literally doesn’t know anything about being a human, but turner’s only *thing* was that he didn’t want to reveal he’s gay (due to past trauma of a friend abandoning him, understandable). i just wish both of them had been a little more interesting. it made some of their scenes feel flat. :/
this definitely needed to be longer to really develop the characters, but i enjoyed the vibes nonetheless~ and i LOVED the art!!!!! i thought it was so pretty.
there’s a second volume, so i’m hoping it showcases more of benny and turner (and their cat!!) happily living together! because they’re the CUTEST. 🫶🏼 and maybe in the process, it’ll reveal more complex characterization.
The story is about "Benjamin" who has become a fallen angel and how he's taken in by Turner, who offers him a home and decides to make him a pair of shoes for his future travel plans. And of course, while they live together, the two start to develop feelings for each other. Honestly, it's such a calm-paced and, to a degree, unfeeling manga, but it feels right. I mean, you can tell that Turner is trying to keep his distance and Benjamin is only starting to learn how to interact with people. Also, that ending! Super happy with it! Can't wait to see what happens next~
