Voice from the Hills: Costly Grace / Cruel Words

Rate this book
In Voice from the Hills, Philip Greenslade takes the original step of linking together a study of the Sermon on the Mount with one on the seven "words" of Jesus spoken from the cross cries from another hill. Philip holds deeply the conviction that discipleship and cross go together, for "It takes nothing less than the cross of God's Son to implement in us the Sermon on the Mount. The cost of discipleship (to us) reflects however dimly the cost of salvation (to God) paid at the cross. "Costly discipleship can seem a daunting prospect, but Philip shows that when we fully understand Jesus' sacrifice for us there is no other response to His extravagant love and grace and as the Spirit empowers us to live the holy lives God intends us to live, so we reflect His glory to others and draw them closer to salvation.
