In Voice from the Hills, Philip Greenslade takes the original step of linking together a study of the Sermon on the Mount with one on the seven "words" of Jesus spoken from the cross cries from another hill. Philip holds deeply the conviction that discipleship and cross go together, for "It takes nothing less than the cross of God's Son to implement in us the Sermon on the Mount. The cost of discipleship (to us) reflects however dimly the cost of salvation (to God) paid at the cross.
