Prudence Brown is a workaholic who hardly puts time into relationships. She’s expecting to spend another Christmas as a single woman when a special delivery comes her way. Surprisingly, she has a secret admirer. His only request is that she’ll open her heart and accept his.
Xavier Campbell has wanted the beautiful and intriguing woman since he first laid eyes on her in the coffee shop. He hasn’t found the courage until now, and he hopes she’ll give him a chance once they meet.
This book was sweet low angst and straight to the HEA. For whatever reason I kept waiting for Xavier to not be who he said he was or for the other shoe to drop. Like there's no way he could be this in to Prudence and not actually be a stalker or have ulterior motives. I guess I'm just jaded bc he was definitely just a good guy.
CN: car accident leading to a limp, divorce, dating anxiety,
This was a cute, holiday based, medium-ish paced read. It had moments that I enjoyed but a few things that felt awkward to me. The writing was a little choppy at times with turn of phrases that I wasn’t use to, probably a region differences thing, and I didn’t always feel a connection to the characters or between them. I think my favorite part was when the best friend told her to get her ish together.
take my heart was a very wholesome love story. i adored prudence and xavier’s dynamic.
xavier has become one of my favorite male love interests. he was outspoken about his admiration for prudence and i loveeed that. i blushed at his every compliment and encouragement like he was talking to me☺️. prudence better than me though cause if some man i didn’t know left me a letter professing his like for me (in an envelope that’s my favorite color) i’d be finding him and dropping it immediately! i love a soft man who knows how to put it tf down, xavier campbell did not disappoint. when he called prudence pretty he wasn’t talking about her face btw!🙈
prudence’s reservation and restraint with xavier was understandable. she is a mirror of every perfectionist out there: overworking, over planning, and overthinking. that side of her was written so well…she was hesitant, uncertain and kept going back and forth with xavier. i was yelling at her through the phone like girl be fr! this man literally would bring you the moon if you asked!😭 in the end the admission and acceptance of her love for xavier was so sweet and heartwarming!🥺
it was effortless while reading the chapters and i was engrossed by every single scene and character. the whole take my heart universe was very vivid in my head!😩 #xavidence💟
This was a quick read that read like a fairy tale love story. Heavy on the fairy tale. Which also made me wait for the other shoe to fall cause seriously how often is life and love like a fairy tale.
I gave this book 3 stars because I’m not into adult fairy tales. Also there was little character development, story telling or anything besides the “love story.” I wanted more. Hell I needed more.
Prudence and Xavier have a meet cute. He asks her out via a card after seeing her in their local coffee shop for a couple weeks. He’s tall, dark, handsome and well built with a limp. She’s a workaholic who has no personal life.
Everything happens really quickly between them and we get a HEA. Read this on KU. It reminded me of why I read a couple of this author’s books and then moved on.
This was a super quick one. 3.75⭐️ I really enjoyed this one and such a great start to the series! I’m actually so glad this is a series because this novella makes me want more. I’m excited to dive into the next book!
I loved Prudence and Xavier. This is a novella so keep in mind that the timeline is a lot quicker than a regular book would be. Xavier shows up direct, knows what he wants, intentional, and just fully ready to love Prudence the way she truly deserves to be. Prudence is a little skeptical, fearful of love/relationships, untrusting etc.
Ugh I just loved this story and these two’s dynamic
From start to finish, this was such a great read. I found myself smiling a lot while experiencing Prudence and Xavier falling in love. I love how they communicated with one another and how they leaned on their family. Symone did an amazing job of capturing realistic emotions and their internal struggles. I enjoyed this story and can’t wait to dive into more of her work.
I love a hesitant female character and a man who falls first. This was a sweet but super sexy tale of two strangers meeting and falling for each other. Loved that it wasn't super simple and there were hurdles they had to jump over together.
4.25⭐️ If you can get past the kind of unrealistic start to this book, it’s actually a wonderful read. Xavier is in it from the start and he is constantly trying to show Pru how much love he has to give. I really enjoyed this authors writing and I look forward to picking up the other books in this series!
3.5 rounded up. It was a cute little short read. It doesn’t hold you long the premise was cute but I just wanted it to be longer for their love to develop. Or if it was short let more time pass in the story. But it was still very good.
A quick and easy read that is captivating from start to finish. It’s easy to be caught up in your own world and be caught up in your own traumas and you run that one good thing away from you.
This was kind of boring and it took to long for the heroine to come to her senses. And that ending was so abrupt when it felt like we were just getting to the meat and potatoes of the story.
I loved Xavier he was definitely book boyfriend material. The way he loved on Pru even though she ran she could clearly see what a good man he was and he was so easy to love. I'm glad Pru and Xa both got their hea with each other.
This book was perfectly sweet. It was a bit hard to get into at first, but besides that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was hoping for a bit that Xavier was a stalker, but that might just be my dark romance brain going off. Still a great read.
