Happy Release Day to a story that I started writing back in 2004. It's taken many shapes, revisions, acceptances, and rejections. The core of the story remains and I'm grateful to be able to share it, finally, with my readers, friends, and family. I believe this is the most nervous I've ever been about a book release of mine. There are powerful scenes and whenever one mixes religion and witchcraft the unknown outcome of responses can be unsettling. I hope you, reader, friend, family, find a small piece of heart and hope in The Album.

The album..
By savannah hendrix.

This is a well written story. I love that the author made the cover of the book like an album. A hidden album. Secrets Amongst the story to be revealed.. Some that will shock you the reader.
As well as the characters within the story..

Michelle, She's the main character.
Living in montana at one time with her mom and her dad.. But then ends up living in mississippi in the present with her father.. In What was once a mansion. That was left to her father. Hidden secrets amongst the walls of this mansion.
One day michelle will discover what was meant to Be a secret forever. Sometimes secrets find a way to the light.

Chloe,

Michelle's best friend.. Meeting through school and because they were loners.. Become friends that no one else wanted.. They become those friends through life. Friends who help each other with everything.. Those are the best kind..

Magic isn't inheritably evil it can be for good or bad. This was one of my very favorite line in this Book..

another favorite In this book for me was Hey dad I'll let magnum P.I know where he can find his shirt.

This was truly a very good book and I enjoyed it immensely... Savannah writes very good stories and I haven't read one that I honestly haven't enjoyed.. Thank you savannah for another great story..

Savannah Hendricks can write a coming-of-age novel like no other. It amazes me how well she can get inside the mind of a teenage girl and put onto the page teenage conflicts, family issues, and school struggles. Savannah's latest novel contains creepy books, a spooky mansion, ancient spells, and witchcraft and it makes for a chilling thriller that is hard to put down.

Savannah, Savannah, Savannah… your work never ceases to amaze me. The depth and stretch of your creativity is truly amazing!

“The Album” holds the keys and past of the mansion that Michelle “Montana” inherited from her Dad. Her Mom, a longtime schizophrenia and now dementia sufferer has been released from the home she has lived in for years. It’s the end and Michelle just wants to take care of her Mom. But the mansion holds so much of the past and the present and it needs to be released.

Most authors are bound to one genre and if they try other genres they generally do not do well but, we’re talking about Savannah Hendricks. Childrens author, women’s fiction and even a coming of age story in “I Adopted My Mom at the Bus Station”, which was a really awesome story. I absolutely LOVED this story! It was different and I’m here for it! Five stars all the way and y’all, if you haven’t read anything of Savannah’s, please go to Amazon and order them all. Even her children’s books are sweet and enjoyable!

Savannah Hendricks has a new book coming out and she has hit this one out of the ballpark!!! The Album is a mysterious story with a haunted mansion that will give your goosebumps goosebumps!!!! She explores Witchcraft and Christianity and is full of suspense. It is told in dual timelines, from past to present and this one unputdownable. She touches on some distressing subjects but handles them with the utmost care. This is an emotional story with mystery, suspense, secrets….so many secrets, heartache, hope, friendship and a beautiful Album. Ms. Hendricks is an extremely talented author and I highly recommend this mysterious book, but buckle up, your are in for one very wild ride!

Thank you Savannah Hendricks and Grand Bayou Press for another fascinating story to read and review. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

I loved it! This book has a lot going on. The past....12 year old Michelle's struggle moving into a mansion with her dad in a new state far away from her mother who is hospitalized with schizophrenia. The house is dilapidated, and her dad is determined to have it renovated. Oh, and the house is haunted by witches. The present....28 years later Michelle unexpectedly loses her dad and moves her mother into the now renovated mansion to become her caretaker as she suffers from late stage dementia. The story is brilliantly unfolded back and forth from past to present keeping you on the edge of your seat as young Michelle makes a friend, and learns about witchcraft and how it is tied to her own family.

The Album
Savannah Hendricks

I loved the way The Album written in the past and the future. A young daughter raised by her father because her mother was in the hospital. Michelle went through alot as a young girl to an adult. She is going through family problems and school problems. Michelle wanted to find out why and how the mansion was the way it became with a spooky name and what was in the extra rooms not used. Savannah The Album novel contains paranormal , witchcraft a spooky mansion, creepy books. It was fascinating and kept my attention with great detail. Characters where good together.

This book was very well written containing several diverse subjects including ghosts, witchcraft, endearing friendships, loss of parents and the caring of a loved one suffering from schizophrenia and dementia. I did get teary eyed reading the parts dealing with dementia as I recently lost 2 friends from that terrible disease and now a cousin has been diagnosed with it. Overall, Savannah wrote a compelling and interesting story full of love, trust, compassion and friendship.

Thank you Goodreads and the author for sharing this book in exchange for my review. First, thank you for donating to a worthy cause with a percent of sales. My family is from Mississippi and I always enjoy reading books set in the South. There was a good mix of mystery, and family drama with her caring for her mom with dementia. The story lines flowed well.

Excellent feel good book

I truly enjoyed reading this book because I felt as if I could relate to so much that was discussed. I loved the delicate balance between paranormal and general everyday life. I also enjoyed how Hendricks used chapters deemed "Past" to give the backstory of the mansion, her family, and relationships.

A great read for fall season

This book fell into my lap at the perfect time of year!
This is a read for a Fall evening sitting next to a candle outside on the porch, or inside by the fire with your favorite pet cuddled next to you. I was taken away into the authors world, past and present, and was swept away in no time.

Good Read

I purchased this book after adopting an author in a reader group. The cover intrigued me first. The story itself was interesting. Michelle, the MFC brings her mother who is suffering from dementia and mental illness to the home her father had planned on taking care of her at. She fulfills her father’s promise after his death. It is dual timeline with a few twists. I highly recommend.

Wow, it's going to take me a while to process my thoughts on this novel. It's rather deep in meaning, but somehow it makes you feel peace and light within yourself. I'm struggling to find the words to describe all that this story encompasses. It's about finding your own peace and about the challenges some of us face, but I laughed too. Life is not perfect, but this story reminds me that it's the imperfections that make life, life.

I've read a lot of books by this author, but I was not expecting this one. It's so different, but in a good way. It took me longer to read as parts were hard, my mother has dementia so all that stuff really got to me. I do believe the author described the feelings of caring for an elderly parent very well.

I received this book as part of a Giveaway. The description really made me want to read it. Unfortunately it did not meet expectations. I had to push myself to keep reading this slowly unfolding story. In the end, the story fell flat for me. It is not chilling and I never really cared about any of the characters because I did not feel that I adequately knew them.

The story is set in "The Past" and "The Present". Each chapter is titled only as either "The Past" or "The Present". It is fairly easy to determine in which timeline each chapter takes place making these headings unnecessary. This repetition was a minor annoyance.

There were many plot lines traveling through this book, perhaps too many. None of them seemed to be adequately addressed. Michelle seemed ill-prepared to care for her mother and one would think her mother would have a more carefully planned discharge after living in a very long-term psychiatric setting. Why is the mother suddenly able to live in a community setting after decades of hospitalization and active hallucinations and delusions? Why were her possessions not sent with her upon discharge especially as their absence is a source of agitation?

The witchcraft, witches, and cursed mansion that made up the underlying mystery and were supposed to be the "chilling" part of the story never really accomplished their purpose. There was a lot of potential, such as the mirror cracking where the fingernail tapped it. I would have liked to see more of this kind of narrative and a deeper exploration of this storyline.

The Album spoke of the witches being a "species" with "upturned noses". They "collected poison from" and "controlled" snakes in their homeland. This was never mentioned again once they are in Mississippi. Instead we hear about crystals, gems, and oils. What happened with the snakes? Is Chloe's family related to these original witches if the witches are a "species"? Glinda was a descendent of these witches, weren't there others?

The treatment of the father's religious beliefs seemed rather half-hearted. We hear that he has very strong Christian beliefs and is against the mention of ghosts and witchcraft but we never see any demonstration of these beliefs. To release her father's soul, Michelle reads his "two favorite verses from Samuel". What are they? Could we have a citation? This would provide insight to the father's personality.

I feel as though the author could have carried parts of the story further for greater effect. I was really hoping that the mother's missing albums would be related to The Album. I was surprised that Michelle wasn't related to Georgette instead of Lamont. I expected the mother's intractable mental illness to be a manifestation of inherited magical abilities. How did the father get The Album and the grimoire?

In the end, perhaps the story is just overly ambitious, attempting to say something about too many issues. Mental health, family relationships, adolescence, religion, friendships, love, and canine epilepsy may be too many topics for 245 pages.

Wow! I am not usually into this type of novel(paranormal) but I really enjoyed this and stayed up too late reading to finish. Michelle Davis grew up in an old house in Mississippi. The whole town considered this old house haunted. Was it???She and her dad did the best they could, his dream was to fix it up and bring her mom home. Her Mom was in a "care center" as she suffered with schizophrenia. When her dad dies and her mom is in end stage schizophrenia and dementia Michelle decides to bring her home to nurse her thru the end. She has help come in but it is still very taxing as many time mom does not even know who she is.
As a child she found an album behind the wallpaper that was at least 100yrs old. It changed her life and understanding of how the past effects the present and how hard it is to redirect...Witchcraft and Christianity clashing....or joining? I can't explain the plot well, I'll just end with READ IT!

Ms. Hendricks is a remarkable author who consistently crafts stories that transport me into the narrative and deeply invests me in the characters's lives. This book was distictly unique and diverged from her previous works, yet maintained her exceptional quality.

I was capativated by Michelle's story, particularly the dual timeline that intricately wove together the facets of her life in unexpected ways. Ms. Hendricks demonstrated exceptional skill in character development, creating each individual with remarkable depth and uniqueness, evoking feelings that resonated deeply. Michelle's raw emotions and fears of repeating her mother's fate gripped my heart, eliciting profound empathy for her. This narrative beautifully illustrates a daughter's unwavering love and dedication to her parents, persevering through life's challenges.

This was an outstanding read. I want to thank Ms. Hendricks for the privilege and honor of reading this book. All opinions and views in this review are my heartfelt own.

This book was slow. I also didn’t like the pesky Christianity vibe. The ghost story was interesting once we finally got to it. There were a lot of parts that made no sense and were just space fillers ie: the dogs seizures, the ex boyfriend. If we could give half stars I would rate this 2 1/2 but I’ll round it up to 3
