On Alien Love Island, the days are hot, but the nights are scorching...
It's not every day I tie up an alien warrior king. It's because, in part, he put his hands down my pants to retrieve a top-secret package. Hey, where else was I going to put it? For some reason he's not telling me, he wants this mysterious package. My orders are to deliver it and not to him.
But when we're both kidnapped and dropped onto a deserted island, my plans for ringing his neck and then day-drinking shoot out the window.
Only the island's not so deserted. The alien king and I have just stumbled onto the set of the first season of Alien Love Island, an intergalactic reality TV dating show.
Big, sarcastic yay.
One of the many, many problems with this? We never agreed to appear on the show. The producers make it clear that we have no choice though.
To stay alive, we play our parts. But when the cameras aren't rolling, the alien king and I must work together to find out what's really going on.
Is this mysterious package the reason we're here? What's the alien king hiding? Who invented sizzling-hot alien kings I can't take my mind--or my hands--off of anyway?

Main Characters and Plot Overview
I had a great time with Stranded with the Alien King because it felt like a mashup of military sci fi, romance, and a completely over the top reality TV premise that somehow worked. Nera is a capable Earth Space Fleet captain on a mission to deliver a mysterious package that everyone seems determined to steal. The opening confrontation with Maxx immediately caught my attention. Watching an alien warrior king literally reach into her clothes trying to retrieve the package is an unforgettable way to introduce two characters who absolutely do not trust each other.
Things get even crazier when Nera and Maxx are kidnapped, wake up on a tropical island, and discover they have supposedly “volunteered” to compete on an intergalactic dating show. I liked that neither of them simply accepted the situation. They spend much of the story looking for a way out while also dealing with assassination attempts, hidden agendas, and the growing realization that the package and Maxx’s secrets are connected. The slow reveal of both Nera’s painful past and Maxx’s hidden motives kept me invested because every answer seemed to raise two more questions.
Highlights and Limitations
The chemistry between Nera and Maxx was easily my favorite part of the book. Their relationship grows through reluctant teamwork instead of instant attraction. One moment they are arguing over whether they can trust each other, and the next they are protecting one another when danger strikes on the island. Those quieter conversations between the action scenes made their romance believable.
I also appreciated that the reality show setting was more than just a gimmick. The producers constantly manipulating events and forcing contestants into uncomfortable situations added another layer of tension beyond the romance. It gave the story an unpredictable energy because I never knew whether the next obstacle would come from an assassin or from the show’s twisted rules.
My biggest frustration was the ending. I knew this was the start of a series, but I still wasn’t fully prepared for how many major questions were left unanswered. Maxx’s final revelations completely changed how I looked at earlier events, but instead of providing closure they made me want to start the next book immediately. I also would have liked a little more time exploring some of the supporting contestants since a few of them seemed interesting before the focus shifted elsewhere.
Narration
Jenna Rose and B.J. Hunter both delivered engaging performances. Jenna Rose captured Nera’s sarcastic humor, determination, and emotional vulnerability, especially during the scenes where Nera reflects on the tragedy from her past. B.J. Hunter gave Maxx the calm, commanding presence I expected from an alien king while still letting the quieter emotional moments come through.
The audiobook uses dual narration by point of view rather than duet narration, so each narrator performs all of the voices within their chapters. It took me a little while to adjust to hearing the same character voiced differently depending on whose perspective I was following, but both narrators stayed consistent enough that it never pulled me out of the story for long.
Final Thoughts
This ended up being much more of a mystery than I expected. I came for the fun concept of an alien romance on a reality dating show, but I stayed for the conspiracy surrounding the package, Maxx’s carefully guarded secrets, and the gradual trust that develops between him and Nera. I especially enjoyed that neither character felt helpless. They both had moments where they saved each other, which made the partnership feel balanced.
If you enjoy slow burn alien romance with plenty of action, political intrigue, and a healthy dose of humor, this is an entertaining start to a series. Just be prepared for a significant cliffhanger because I finished the audiobook wanting answers almost as badly as Nera.
1.5? I chose this because the concept made me LOL and the entire thing was SO crazy. It kept me engaged and I want to share some details that might entice you to read (spoilers): 1. The year is 2600 and the Twilight books are still culturally relevant 2. One of the human characters’ name is Oreo 3. I listened to the audiobook and some of the chapters from the computer perspective are just “zero zero zero zero” 4. The male character had “pleasure serpents” and scales, I will not be commenting further on this!!
Pros--the leads are interesting characters. The dialogue is funny, but waaay too Earth-slang/idiom oriented to be believable. Hilarious descriptions of other characters and behavior. The plot is quite convoluted and not boring.
Cons--the actual motivations of the characters are super complex. It's like having the feeling you missed several crucial episodes of a detailed show. The plot moved so abruptly without reason that it became intensely frustrating. Think of a character who was a fish through several chapters, but suddenly without explanation is a housecat who begins to fly. That's the level of weirdness that happened to the plot without explanation--unless you consider the lead characters saying "What's going on?" repeatedly as explanation. And the biggest con, which i mean in the sense of confidence scheme, is the CLIFFHANGER at the very end of the book, along with a data dump of new info. WTH?
Readers hate cliffhangers. They hate being strung along by characters with too many secrets that don't make sense. A bunch of serious events that suddenly turn into a reality dating show? I wish this was a joke, but sadly I'm not.
The writing is good, but the plot is full of enormous holes that are not only absurd but feeds into the CLIFFHANGER routine you get at the end. Since there are multiple books in this series, it's probably safe to assume the reader will be hanging for awhile. That's a big nuuupe for this reader.
This book is perfect. Literally perfect. Do you love reality TV? Congrats, there's a reality TV series in the premise? You like romance? Spice? There's that too? Large hunky alien men? Yep, plenty. Drama and secrets? Check! Seriously, I read this book in one day and Maxx is now my comfort alien. I really really really hope the author continues this series because I need more!.

Story: Earth Space Fleet Captain Nera (h) is supposed to deliver a package to a military operation on Klio-3 but something is preventing her ship or shuttles from being able to land and she’s pretty sure it has something to do with the Xenoxx alien warriors in her brig who tried to steal the package. Maxx (H), King of Xenoxx, rarely leaves his world, but this package is the exception. Nera and Maxx are drugged and awaken on a tropical planet where they find out they supposedly signed up months before to participate in an alien dating show. The two are drawn together even as they try to solve the growing mystery of where they are, how the traumatic events of their pasts come into play, and what’s going on with action, adventure, attempted assassinations, a bizarre game show, and more. Maxx has some pretty big secrets that could destroy Nera if they come to light – and that’s where ethe cliffhanger for Book 1 leaves things. There is lot going on and a lot more to come in this sci-fi romance and things just aren’t what they seem – this is a series that you absolutely have to read each book in order for the next to make sense. 5 stars.
Several months after reading the story, I've also listened to the audiobook via Kobo:
Audio: The narrators did a good job with this story. The audiobook uses two narrators, a male narrator and a female narrator, though I would have preferred that male voices were always (regardless of POV) were voiced by B.J. Hunter and female voices were always (again regardless of chapter POV) were voiced by Jenna Rose. Hunter provides a nice tone of voice for Maxx in chapters from his POV, and Rose gave Nera a voice that seemed to capture her character in chapters from her POV – it’s distracting to hear Maxx’s voice being voiced by the female narrator in chapters from Nera’s POV and to hear Nera’s voice being voiced by the male narrator in chapter from Maxx’s POV. 4 stars.
I had the immense pleasure of beta reading this book, and I got sooooo sucked into it from page one!
Nera & Maxx have the kind of chemistry that you feel building deep in your soul along with them, and I swear Lindsey R. Loucks is like a romance magician! The sensory descriptions of the tension between them is nothing short of sorcery, and the entire story is just so incredibly immersive. I had actual visceral responses to the action and suspense, and I was genuinely scared for them a few times. Even the minor characters are so well-developed, and the mysteries underlying the plot pulled me in just as much as the swoony romance between the MCs!
I’d consider this book a slow burn, but oh my gracious, what a burn it is! When we finally get to the sex scene (featuring some super creative and surprising anatomy!) it more than lives up to the hype of getting there. I cannot say enough about how thoroughly the tension is built between Nera & Maxx, and how satisfying the sex is once we get there! I swear this kind of payoff is what I LIVE for!
Don’t be fooled though, while the sexual tension gets top billing in Stranded With the Alien King for me, the story itself is a masterpiece! There is just about some expert level mystery clue-dropping in this book, and the reveals are so well done! Lindsey R. Loucks does a fantastic job of balance with this book, giving us a unique and immersive sci-fi world with intricate puzzles to work out, while still maintaining an exceptionally hot, fun and easily accessible story. Keep your eyes peeled for the clues, and don’t feel bad if you squeal out loud when you catch them, because I totally did lol!
I ADORED this book, and I seriously cannot wait for more Nera & Maxx in book two!
I loved the way the story gave tantalizing tidbits about each of the main characters, Nera and Maxx. It really made me want to turn the pages to find out what was going on with each of them, and get their full backstory. The plot was unpredictable and while it was a fine standalone story, I hope it is the beginning of an ongoing series so we can get answers to some unresolved questions. I would like to find out what happens next in the lives of this fiery couple. There was excitement, romance, and plenty of snarky humor. Lindsey R. Loucks builds an intriguing world with humans and Xenoxx warriors allied to wipe out the Faid, sentient AI who apparently went rogue and kicked off a war. But appearances can be deceiving, and it seems that all the bad guys haven't yet been revealed. Can't wait to read more!.

Another new author (part of the New Years resolutions and I'm definitely not regretting ot. Why did I not think of this before!) There is such an oohhh moment at the end of this book. It's fantastic and I have no intention of giving anything away but I just want the next one NOW so I can continue reading. Nera has been tasked with delivering something, a package, yet she's no real idea of what it is. Problem being where she's meant to drop it off she cannot access. Her ship cannot land. She is certain that the "guests" in her brig have something to do with it but what? Maxx is trying very hard to ignore his feelings for Captain Nera. The world saw her at her most vulnerable and he would do anything to save her from pain, any pain again. The last thing he needs on this mission is a distraction. That all well and good til everything goes Pete Tong and both he and Nera wake up on a beach with watertight contractual obligations. Let the fun commence! (Or not in their case sshhh).
First of all, this ends on a cliffhanger, so if you dislike that as much as I do, don’t waste your time.
That said, I wasn’t sure what to think of this story… I mean, it starts like an action, military tale, and then BAM! we’re in a reality show. WTF? I continued reading because there started to be a mystery (yeah, yet another storyline change), and the characters were interesting.
The fMC is deaf (temporarily, it’s said at the beginning), yet she describes sounds happening around her. How? She hears nothing! She has to be looking at people’s faces to read their lips, how can she know how the laughter of someone she's just met sounds? Seems like the author forgot fMC was deaf sometimes. And the freaking cliffhanger ending! I hate that. And that stupid ending made me hate the MMC, which turns out to be a lying POS. So I won’t continue this series.
I enjoyed this book. It was a fun and interesting read. That premise was tempting and unique. Good world building. The story had mystery, suspense, and danger, and ended up a quick read since I couldn't put it down. I really liked both Nera and Maxx. They had such great chemistry, and this was a nice slow burn romance. I'm really looking forward to the next book to see what happens! 4 stars.
Just a note: beware this book does end on a cliffhanger- I know that's a deal breaker for some. (And there should have been a notice about it just in case. I personally am not a fan of cliffhangers, but will read them if the story sounds compelling enough. But I like to make that choice myself beforehand.) Still, I recommend it.
This is the first book in the Love Island Series, an intergalactic reality TV dating show island. Nera and Maxx's story is fast-paced, entertaining. Nera, a a ship captain , is smart, sassy, and strong. Maxx, an alien warrior king, is enigmatic, handsome, and protective. Their chemistry is sizzling hot. The storyline is original, and captivating. I liked the humor, the slow burn, the banter, the intrigue, and the mystery. Jenna Rose and B.J. Hunter did a great job bringing this story to life. The story ends with a big cliffhanger, and now I am looking forward to listening to Matched to the Alien King, the next book in the series.

I went into the book blind. The storyline follows a dating show which I'm not a big fan of including spice that was fade to black. There were so many people involved that the plot became unclear. I kept wondering wtf was going on. The MMC and FMC are forced to be on a dating show and can't just leave? They were literally kidnapped. I couldn't get into it, skimmed a majority of the last 45%? and it left off on a huge cliffhanger. The story felt too dragged and I could not connect with either MCs, tbh I don't even remember their names. The only time I felt anything was when they were telling the story of the FMC and what happened to their kid. I don't plan on continuing the series. There was potential and it didn't hit it.

This was a well-written, fast-paced (on the action parts) story that captures the reader’s attention right away. It was a bit different than the usual alien stories I expected, but parts of it were laughable which was just what I hoped for.
Maxx and Nera were good together as they got to know each other. And ending up on an island in the process of filming season one of “Alien Love Island”, a reality dating show, was not what I expected. Does this have something to do with the strange package Nera was supposed to deliver to someone? Does Maxx know more than he is telling her? And will they come up with a plan for getting off this island?
Nera finds out one of the guys she has tied up on her ship is a Alen King. Now she can't torture him to see why he tried to steal a package out of her pants that she's supposed to deliver. Both Nera and Maxx are kidnapped from her ship and wake up on a beach where things aren't as they seem and they're signed up on Alien Love Island, a TV dating show. Someone is trying to kill both of them and they'll have to work together and watch one another's nack. Maxx has a secret he's keeping a secret that could end everything for him and crush Nera.

Stranded With the Alien King by Lindsey Loucks, is a nice slow burn romance that blazes like an inferno when it finally takes off. The storyline is fast-paced and well written, filled with aliens and humans, curses, and power struggles, adventure, danger, intrigue and subterfuge. The characters are well developed and engaging. Nera and Maxx have some serious chemistry throughout the book, that just explodes at the end without warning. The ending is rather abrupt, leaving you with far more questions than answers. Overall, an interesting book and worth the read.
I really enjoyed the interactions between Nera and Maxx throughout the book, they had a great chemistry of badass babe and badass dude both trying to protect the other. The little bits of almost spy like intrigue we get to see in this first book makes me want to keep reading because I desperately want to know what is going to happen with the world not just the characters. Love the world building and I genuinely found myself trying to flip pages after the end to read more!.

She was having a bad day before, she was kidnapped (along with the sexy alien king). Nera's mission has been troubled by disasters, not that she minded Maxx (the alien king) touching the good, but he is hiding things. Now they seem to be have been kidnapped and put on the Alien Love Island show. Will they survive, when there seems to be someone out to get them? I loved this sizzling alien and human romance, the mystery/secrets, dangers and Maxx and Nera's story, but I need more answers.

Wow! This is an awesome new series! Full of mystery, betrayal, assassins, a secret weapon, secrets, tragedy, steamy scenes and much more, with a cliffhanger ending. This story will have you hooked from the start and your emotions all over the place. It’s a well written, exciting and entertaining story and the characters and storyline are brilliant with incredible world building. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it definitely won’t be the last.

Nera and Max wake up on a planet and find out they “signed up” for a reality alien dating show. Of course, it must be forged! However, the penalty for backing out is too steep, so they go through with it. It is a bit bizarre, but the story is interesting. There is a tension between them from the beginning, with a slow building until the hot sex scene happens. That was interesting. 😊. Overall, the story is the draw here, and what I found intriguing. The narration was well done. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This is a fun story about Nera, Maxx, a package and an alien dating show. Captain Nera is on a mission to deliver a package but for some reason she cannot land her ships. Maxx, King of Xenoxx, an alien warrior who is protective and fierce. These two are drugged and kidnapped and told they were apparently signed up to be part of an alien dating show. This is a slow build but these two are drawn to each other from the get go. This is a good read/listen that is not overly long. The story is interesting, intriguing and a touch fun.
This interesting, well-written book 1 in The Alien Love Island Book Series has an entertaining story with unique characters with realistic interactions, strong chemistry and a well-crafted word. This story has action, twists, turns, romance, and love. This is a must read for those who love Alien Romances. It ends on a cliffhanger, I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy this series because I’m really not into the whole reality show thing, but I’ve always enjoyed Lindsey’s books before, so had to give it ago. Glad I did because the characters are so much fun. The setting is definitely original and the story is very steamy at times. The anatomy of the alien king is… interesting! If you enjoy hot to handle, fun sci fi, then I’d say to give the series a go.
Ok not going to lie I found the audio of this book on Youtube under the author's name because it popped up randomly on my feed. So as a curious cat would I clicked on it and began listing. It was promising as a science fiction romance that I knew nothing about. Needless to say I was shocked and kind of amused to find it was a like a Alien version of a dating game (ie. the bachelor.). The tension between the FL and ML had me hooked. I am thoroughly enjoying this book.
I listened to this on audio through a library app, had no idea it was a series or that it had a cliffhanger ending until I looked at other reviews. I'm not a fan of reality tv, but I found some of the mystery elements interesting. Agree with other reviewers that it jumps around in confusing ways and without explanation. Don't know if other formats have a CW but fMC and others are dealing with trauma from the murder of a child.

this is .... something i feel there was a direction the author wanted to go and then went on 3 different ones . so the consistency was crazy lacking . the main character is deaf which is a concept that dissappears pretty quickly. we are having a story when suddenly it's a game show we are bonding over the loss of children then suddenly attraction there's no dangerous fish in the water then suddenly they are venomous creatures and it must be sucked out .... etc narration was good
3.75⭐️The tonal whiplash is wild in this story. I signed up for goofy alien Love Island and they tossed in robot nanny filicide and a gaslighting husband. Nanny robot child murder aside, this book was predominantly funny and witty. The alien peen was DEFINITELY a choice. I truly enjoyed the FMC but did not like the ending. It ended on a cliffhanger, which it says in the description but it was unnecessary.
Alien Love Island is a place of secrets and deadly danger. And love proves impossible to resist. It’s also impossible to sort out who to trust and who to watch carefully. The characters are just that complex. And the loving is mind boggling. Who is behind all the nasty stuff, though? There is the worlds biggest cliffhanger just to finish off. Awesome!
Crazy story. How crazy is it to go from interrogating a prisoner to waking up on a beach wrapped up by said prisoner. Crazy right. Then it gets crazier. A show to find love. I'm right, right? Very good story thought. Did not care for the ending. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
