This book reminded me greatly of how much I loved and miss my AP psychology class. Content and presentation is very thorough, clear + easy to understand and I enjoyed reading and annotating. Shoutout to Mr. Ranker for letting me have this book - I can't remember if you wanted it back but I wrote in it a lot and also I graduated over six months ago so I'm hoping not :)

It was semi-easy to understand and follow along but I can not bring myself to agree with the tests in this book. There are several tests I read that question the ethics of psychology testing.

I've always been interested in psychology. How the brain, emotions, personalities, emotions, and other things work.

This book was required for our psychology class to read as the school year goes by. I was not disappointed. Each study was unique and interesting in its own way, hence why it changed psychology. It's written in a way that's easy to understand but includes vocabulary words people in the "Psychology field" use. Each study slowly changed my thoughts on people. I can now finally understand why one person acts the way s/he does. I can look around and finally say "I know why she's sad" with not only the obvious reasons (the event that led the person to feel that way), but scientifically explain how the process works. It amazing to read about how researchers dedicate their lives to learn why we do things and feel the way we do. Reading each study made learn about things I would never explore and read about. I do not regret reading these studies and taking my psychology class.

Read for History of Psychology class. One of the most enjoyable books I've ever read for school. I liked the choice of studies. Unlike typical psych history textbooks, this was not someone's ramblings on people/events in the history of psychology. Rather, it was organized into ten chapters by ten topics. Each chapter contained 4 studies which were briefly summarized and discussed. If you are looking for a brief glance about how Psych has been practically applied over the last 100 or so years, read this book :)

3.5 ⭐️ I really liked this book, especially in terms of the layout for each experiment. It went in the right details and with the right breakdown to really understand and read through these experiments. For one of my projects I had to choose a specific one and so I read through a bunch of them that I didn’t necessarily use, and it was a very easy read to get through. Really good text for Experimental Psychology.

A good but basic overview of key psychological studies. I’d have rated it higher, but 2013 is really late in the game to not comment on any issues of diversity whatsoever beyond one (1) study on collectivism. There was ample opportunity to talk about cross cultural, cross gender, cross sexuality differences and none were taken, which is a shame because I think that would have augmented the discussion about the worth of these texts considerably.

Od 40 istraživanja u ovoj knjizi, tijekom dosadašnjeg studiranja spomenuli smo (više puta) barem 37. Prema tome, mnoge sam dijelove na kraju samo preletjela. Ovo je jako dobro zamišljeno... ali za nekog tko se tek počinje baviti psihologijom. I nužno je neko novo izdanje, 15 (tj. 17) godina je puno u psihologiji. :)

Highly educational and a fun read if your interested in Psychology

This was a fascinating book. It is simply an intro to psychology workbook. The format for most books of this nature is not as streamlined. Each chapter is only a few pages and gives you the most pertinent information. This makes it easy for the reader to discuss afterwards. Perhaps this could be a problem if someone was trying to learn specific vocabulary, but I would assume the classroom setting would foster that. In my instance I read the book on my own and those details and tips for memory would have only slowed my ability to absorb the info. I was already familiar with a lot of the material, but it still added new concepts. It was arranged by topics and that made it fun to pick and choose. Most of the cases were presented in a style that didn't overtly suggest things, but allowed the reader to infer it themselves afterwards. When there was a study on animals, it was easy to figure out the implications for humanity. But it didn't force it on the reader. I don't think people need to go out and find this book, but if you stumble on it, feel free to flip around it. It has some very enlightening passages (one that comes to mind is the study that women's genitals also engorge with blood during coitus, which should be common knowledge and yet is not).
