Trinity Jones would do anything for the people she loves, even if that means working at a run-down strip club to buy a new house for the aunt who raised her to live. Trinity moonlights as a clairvoyant for the local police force, and life seems pretty normal until the night she's attacked.
A handsome werewolf named Elijah saves her life, and now she owes him a favor. After a heinous attack is made on the local pack, Elijah needs Trinity to use her psychic ability to find the culprit .
It quickly becomes clear that their chemistry is electric, but a string of bad relationships has prompted Trinity to swear off love forever. Will she be able to help the pack without falling into his arms? Or will Elijah become too great a temptation to resist
This story just didn’t jell well. The plot was wonky and imo, the main characters didn’t have much connection.
Also, something about the way the wolves are written in this story feels….idk racist. Black, living in the poorest areas, some written as drug dealers. Honestly, none of it is good. Even the main protagonist. She has a teaching degree but works for the paranormal cops (cause she sees ghosts) and strips at night. It all just feels very ilky, almost insidious.
This plot had lots of potential. However, it just didn’t flow for me. It felt like the story was just jumping all over the place. There were quite a few times I was confused as to what was going on. I wanted to like this book based on the description I read but unfortunately it fell flat for me.
I really liked this one! I loved the dynamic that we have Black weres and vamps. And that our heroine Trinity can see dead people. I like the way she sees them too! There’s a little more effort on her part for that to happen. And the part time job she has because a woman has to do what a woman has to do. And Elijah - yes, please! lol But I’m a little mad at him for one reason - don’t want to spoil it. lol But hopefully they can work it out in the installments. There’s also a mystery going on but it makes sense in Trinity’s line of work that she’s in because of her seeing dead people. Happy I found a new (to me) urban fantasy/paranormal romance series. And featuring Black characters at that. It’s not new of course but it feels new. And I like that!
TW/CW: physical violence towards the heroine (not by the hero), death of a person in the heroine’s life.
Okay first, I really don’t know how this book got off without someone, maybe the editor, saying ‘no let’s work on the story some more’. The focus of this book is more about Trinity being a detective, not falling in love, being in love. No! She’s a detective who moonlights as a stripper. Her life is in danger from both “jobs”! Go figure! Elijah has no real role in this book yet he’s the love interest of Trinity. Elijah is a werewolf who can’t have babies with a human! Easton is a vampire who can just feed you his blood and bring you back to life! Oh and Elijah is a wolf who “punches” you in the face when he fights a human. Come on!
I feel like this is the author's first book. There were a lot of typos and the story really did not flow. It was a lot of unfinished thoughts and scenes.
Writing out the character getting in the car and driving to the next location is important to make the story flow. This book was just jumping from one conversation to the next with zero transition.
Which really sucks, since like I said earlier, it’s a good plot. It just needs to be flushed out more. For the story, I kind of want to continue the series, but I can't with the editing.
Trinity Jones wasn’t a whimpy damsel in distress kinda girl. She will throw a punch and talk smack. She was a person who had the gift of communicating with the dead and helped out the police on special cases while moonlighting as a stripper. She stripped to save enough money to move her and her auntie to a better home. There were supernaturals going bump in the night all around the humans but humans were only aware of the werewolves now because of an incident. As we all know humans will destroy each other on a good day so just imagine how they come after another species. Werewolf and human relations isn’t warm and fuzzy. So her help is enlisted and the potential for chaos, a war, and more is palpable through out the book. There’s no love lost between the various supernatural groups and no love lost between the humans and the known supernaturals. This reminded me of my favorite witch series The Hollows by Kim Harrison - that’s a compliment btw because that series had me in a chokehold. I’m so happy that Trinity is black - that was the best part! This was a great start to the series! Great read!
This book was a rollercoaster of emotions. Trinity was finally figuring her life and career out, and things seemed to be looking up. Elijah and Easton were a headache with their stubbornness, and I'm curious to see where those relationships go. Rocco is a favorite, and I hope to see more of him moving forward. Raymond seemed a bit distant, and I need to know what's up with his wife??? Also, I'm hoping to find out who is Trinity's father, and who pulled her out of that fire as a child??!! I'm ready for the witches to make their big debut too.
So I really did like this book, but the grammar and sentence errors drove me nuts. Did anybody go over this book or what? The story was really good but I swear my eye started twitching with finding something wrong on almost every single page. I'm going to try the rest of the series and hope that someone proof read those at least.
it has potential but with the mmc complaining and saying over and over that if he does this or this or if this or this happens he’s gonna die or his pack is gonna turn on him like what kind of pack is this where they can flip on him at any moment he’s like a scared little boy the whole time and the romance is dry they slept together then nothing like what😭
First off, I did like the story line, but so much of it felt forced. I need more character development, more chemistry between the MMF and the FMC, and more development of the situations. It was a quick read, but I don’t think l’ll continue the series. Fair warning, I don’t usually talk about grammar issues, but this had soooo many. 🤦🏾♀️
This one was a little heavy, but I won’t give any spoilers. The fact that Trinity can see dead people, I wouldn’t be able to sleep 💤 I like how her friends also have gifts too to clean up messes. And the wolf trinity became romantic with was cute. I love this short read. On to the next.
I definitely liked the book. But there were so many details missing that could have been filled in. Trinity was fierce. But the other characters lacked luster. It just needed more and felt rushed.
My first time reading this author. I liked the story but the character was a bit childish and her antic did in fact cause harm to come to aunt niecy. I hope she figures it out.
Good story, easy me. A bit predictable with the aunt dying. Very early on I knew it would happen. Pulledat thr heart strings. Excited to see what happens next. I think Trinity will bridge the communication between wolf, vampire and human.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
There was too much going on in this book in such a short time. It also didn't flow well. The author's transitions only led to confusion, and it looks like this book may be trying for a love triangle or some such, which I don't really care for.
