Can this gruff mountain man convince his new bride that she belongs with him?
Brennon
I ruined my brother’s wedding. I punched him in the nose and took his bride for my own. Because he won’t worship those beautiful curves the way I will. He’s not interested in protecting and loving Cadence like I will.
In her eyes, this marriage is just a way to save her father. But I’ll make her fall in love with me. First, I’ll convince this woman that my heart is hers. Then I’ll claim her curvy body and do filthy things to it. Because this mountain man is playing for keeps.
Cadence
I have no illusions about my groom. He’s cruel and manipulative. But without this marriage, my father will be wrongfully imprisoned.
Then minutes before the ceremony, his older brother claims me. He insists I’ll be his wife instead and live with him in his cabin in the woods.
I know what they say about Brennon. They call him a beast. They say he’s a monster who retreated into the woods, never to be seen again. But here he is, giving me a way out when all hope seems lost. It’s true this won’t be the marriage I imagined. Maybe it’ll be better.
If you love a strong, silent alpha male who wants nothing more than to protect and pleasure his new wife, it’s time to meet Brennon in Married to the Mountain Man.

"You're the enemy," I whisper right before his lips are nuzzling my neck, his beard teasing my sensitive skin. But even as I call him my enemy, I know the real truth. I belong to this mountain man.
Mia Brody wrote another hit! This novella has some disability rep- H has aphasia so he's unable to communicate well. He had a stroke two years ago. He's virtually mute except for a word here and there. I LOVE finding gems like this- I really enjoyed it!
Sooo. Brennon, the H, goes to his brother's wedding where he meets the wife-to-be for the first time, Cadence. She's in an arranged marriage to get her father out of jail. She doesn't like her fiancee, Andrew, at all- and that's mutual from the insults he slings at her in front of Brennon. Brennon proceeds to punch him in the face and claim Cadence as his.
Y'all... Brennon is SO sweet. He may not be able to communicate well, but he sure knows how to show his love.
"My new husband bought me books, and I'm pretty sure I could fall in love with him just for that."
Yeah, I'd fall in love with a man if he bought me books! That's a dream come true lmao.
But yeah anyways, the couple in this novella is adorable and sticky-sweet. Five stars.
SAFETY: Age: unknown Cheating: None! OM/OW drama: Slight, OM is H's brother who was supposed to marry h first. But he doesn't care for her at all. Sex scene with OM/OW: None! Abuse: None! Separation: None! Virgin/celibate/manwhore: Dual virgins! Condoms: None! Triggers: None! Kinks: dirty talk, rough sex Tropes:mountain man, dual virgins, disability rep (aphasia) HEA?: Yes! With an epilogue.
I hate to say it, but this book was just horrible. I wanted to DNF it so many times. It was just way too sweet and too cutesy and the instant love and goddess worshiping was just way over the top. It was like a sweet dessert that was just way too sweet and made you nauseous. I just really hated it. I also really really didn’t like the leading lady at all and because they were all too sweet and nauseating when the sex scenes happened I just really couldn’t get into it and it kind of made me cringe. It was not hot at all.
Romance trope: insta-love Series: Courage County Curves Length: 100 pages
Plot: Brennon used to be at the top of the food chain in the business world, but after his stroke, he's been frozen out and has hidden himself away in the mountains. He does show up for his brother's wedding, though, and finds the girl of his dreams, Cadence. She's marrying his brother as part of a blackmain scheme, that is, until Brennon steals her away. She can't believe her luck at finding the strong, kind, sexy Brennon, but she's having a difficult time believing that he really wants her.
Commentary: I like that there was no magic cure for Brennon's symptoms. She accommodated and understood him, and that was enough.
3.5 stars. 100 pages (or less). Great premise but too short with okay-ish writing.
Sometimes you read someone's review and you decide "yep... I need to read this book".
I'm cheap and I usually rent my books through the library or kindle unlimited. This book was $2.99 on kindle and there were no other choices. So I tried the sample and then bought it cause I'm a sucker for the arranged marriage trope and there was something so appealing about my friend's review.
So, I liked it. The idea is a lot of fun but the writing is pretty basic and could be a LOT better. This has:
1. The guy falls first. He basically sees her and likes her right away. When his brother doesn't respect her, he steps in. This is basically insta-love on his part. He adores this curvy woman and wants her to be his. He's super respectful and doesn't pressure her on anything. I ADORE that he researched her and bought her a bunch of books (including alien romances) as his first gift to her.
2. Disability rep. The guy has aphasia after a stroke when he was 30. He became a better human being after that experience. It's cool that this was included but it's disappointing that the book is so light on this and doesn't delve into his history, etc.
3. Plus-size rep (sort of). There are fat-phobic comments made about the heroine that say she's a whale... but the hero describes her as petite and carries her around everywhere. It's a bit confusing. I like the attempt at representation, but it doesn't ring true.
4. Some mystery/revenge plot. She's marrying "for reasons" but it gets disrupted when she ends up with the good brother.
It's a light book that has a lot of really good elements. It has a lot of disability rep, including with his friends. I just wish the author had done more. It reads like a new author or someone with a lot of great ideas that doesn't necessarily know how to write a more in-depth story. Set your expectations and you may enjoy it.
I CANT believe I never hit post on this review!!! (Ok, I totally can believe it because I do this shit all the time, start to write a review and then get distracted, usually by the munchkins and then totally forget!)
This was an AWESOME read!! The hero has a disability where it’s hard for him to communicate (aphasia, I think it’s called!). He just melted my heart, he was so tender and sweet and everything the heroine needed to feel safe and protected.
And the best part—
DUAL VIRGINS!!!!!!
SAFE. There’s some OM drama. The heroine is set to marry another man (no intimacy, emotional or physical, has occurred between them!) but he’s a jackass and the hero saves her from him. No ow. No cheating or sharing. HEA with epilogue.
Bought this from a social teaser and I'm not going to lie based off of it, I was really excited to read it.
At 100 pages, the book was too short for all the tropes it tried to fit in and make work, creating a rushed and plot whole filled read. There's potential for so much more here and I'm a bit saddened by the idea of the potential because it's pretty much right there. The characters have some backstory and traits but we, the readers, don't get too much of any of them before the plot forces its way in so not much opportunity for the two MC's to bond outside of instalove and stay there.
All in all, I was looking for what the teaser teased me with so I might not continue the series myself.
I loved this short story! I was back and forth on this kindle purchase but I really enjoyed this short story! I felt the characters and storyline were well developed for a short story. I felt the characters emotions. I enjoyed the disability approach and how much the pair grew to love each other! It’s a great story with HEA!
Gah, Brennon was just an all around swoon worthy MMC. I didn't even know I liked the strong, silent type...but here we are.
LOVED the disability representation in this book...and what I can see will also be continued throughout the series. LOVE that it's the MMC too, it's common to see this more so with the FMC, so kudos Mia.
Short, sweet, and steamy...and some blue alien giggles and a home library to rival Beauty & the Beast!
At 100 pages, it's a quick read. Some of the writing is awkward - especially in the opening scenes, when Brennan finds Cadence in the first look room. It's extremely insta-love, which can be fine, but deciding within about 2 minutes that this is the woman he is going to marry literally in a couple hours was a lot. The arrogant, asshat millionaire CEO wanting a loving relationship, and also still being a virgin at 32 just didn't work for me. It felt a little like too many desired traits/tropes were thrown into the pot without considering how they all worked together.
The way that the "her father was framed and jailed" bit is resolved also was way too casual for me.
It was worth a shot, just isn't for me, ultimately.
Cadence made a deal with the enemy's family to save her father from a life in prison. She needs to marry into the Abernathy family, but her husband to be is a spoiled and disgusting brat. Brennon needs to attend his brother's wedding. Brennon had a stroke that left him with aphasia, so he lives a remote life away from his toxic family. When he meets his brothers bride to be he claims her for himself. Instalove, sweet, steamy, romantic and safe ( heck yes -double virgins ❤️❤️) with a sweet HEA 😍😍😍😍
DNF. Although I was enjoying the Hero and his friends who all had some kind of affliction that you don't usually see in romance, the heroine was starting to get annoying. Also, when it's the first sex scene and you're just not feeling it, it's time to close the book. I made it to the second sex act and I still wasn't feeling it.
WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.

Brennon Abernathy is headed to his brother’s wedding. He had a stroke that stole his ability to speak properly. He used to be the CEO of the family company, but after the massive stroke, he had to relearn everything. His father took over as CEO and his family basically has shunned him. With the exception of his speech still being impaired, Brennon has relearned everything. He built a cabin in the mountains in Courage County so he could live peacefully away from everyone.
Cadence Beauford lost her mother when she was 6 years old. Her father, Walter, is an inventor and her parents started their own company. Unfortunately, Cadence’s mother never got to see the success of the company. Cadence runs the marketing for the company and inherited her mother’s 61% of the company when she became an adult per her mother’s will. Walter became a millionaire due to the technology he created. He found a way to revolutionize the battery industry.
Jackson Abernathy wanted the technology, but Walter wouldn’t sell it to him. So, instead, Jackson cooked Walter’s books and made it look like Walter swindled his investors. Walter has been in jail awaiting trial for the last 8 weeks and all his assets are frozen. Cadence hasn’t told him about the asset freeze or the fact that most employees have left. Cadence makes a deal with Jackson. She will marry his son Andrew and merge the companies, so Jackson gets the technology. Jackson in return, has to have all charges against Walter dropped. Cadence didn’t tell her father about that either.
Brennon gets to the wedding facility and meets Cadence. When Andrew and his buddies come into the room, they talk right in front of Cadence about how fat they think she is and how she should diet. Brennon likes Cadence, curves and all. Brennon punches Andrew in the face and says that he wants Cadence. The two of them end up married instead of her and Andrew. After the wedding ceremony, Brennon decides they are foregoing the reception. He takes Cadence right to his cabin.
These two were the perfect couple. Both struggled with the hand that life dealt them but together, they were strong.
What a heartwarming and steamy romance! While a short and fast read, this book was a satisfying read that blends forced proximity, instant love, and a rugged, protective hero.
We follow the main female character June, who is not only running from some things in her own life, but who finds herself stranded in a blizzard. Luckily, our main male character Logan, winds up coming to June's rescue! As the story progresses we find that Logan is a reclusive mountain man with a heart of gold. Living alone in his cabin for years, he's instantly drawn to June and offers her shelter. As they spend time together, their chemistry ignites, and Logan’s protective instincts kick into overdrive.
What sets this book apart is how quickly Logan decides he needs June is his life — there’s no hesitation, no doubt. Rushing through the steps in their relationship due to the immediate attraction they feel towards one another, they quickly build up their super sweet relationship that has some red flags that linger in their lives. The way Logan cherishes and reassures June, making her feel truly loved for the first time in her life, is both touching and swoon-worthy.
The plot moves fast — perhaps a little too fast at times. While a fun read, sometimes how quickly new adventures start while just as quickly wrapping up traumatic situations from their past can make the story itself feel slightly lackluster at times, BUT absolutely worth the read. It's clear that what the author was focusing on was telling and building the love story between the two.
Overall, this book delivers exactly what it promises: a quick, spicy, and comforting read with a devoted hero who will do anything for his woman. If you love over-the-top possessive men, mountain-man romances, and happy-ever-afters, Married to the Mountain Man is worth picking up!
*spoilers* Brennon was a billionaire CEO and then at thirty he suffered from a stroke due to a hole in his heart. He got the best care but still has big troubles communicating and is not the same man, that is why he retreated to a cabin in the mountains. Also reluctantly he attends the wedding of his brohter expecting the woman to be a gold digger, but when he sees he wants her to be his and not marrying his heartless brother Andrew Abernathy. He knows how bad his family is, used to be the same before realizing the important values after his stroke. His brother does not appreciate the woman he is going to marry, no love lost between them. Her husband to be insults her and that is when Brennon uses his fists and claims and protects his queen. She was about to enter the marriage with Andrew to save her father who is in prison because of a scheme. Without the knowledge of her father she went to Jackson Abernathy and pleaded for mercy, hoping her father will never know. Having lost everything after her mother died and lived in poverty and being homeless she is determined to protect her father and not to give up. Will they be able to trust and appreciate each other, liestening to their hearts? Brennon is a protective mountain man who realized what really matters and listens to his heart, not hestitating to claim his queen. Candence of course is wary of this family but can not help falling for protective giant. She never makes fun of him and treats him with respect before even really knowing him. Great storyling, insta love with a scheme story and a devoted daughter ready to step up to protect him. Luckily she is not alone anymore.

This insta love romance has just the right amount of angst and a whole lot of steam. It is the first book in a new series featuring men who have a physical challenge that each thinks makes him less worthy of love or acceptance in the eyes of a woman. In this book, Brennon has a problem with speech after suffering a stroke. His family basically abandoned him and banished him from the family company. Fate brings him to his brother’s wedding and face to face with the beautiful woman he claims as his own. The marriage is meant to be a business arrangement, but soon turns into something so much more. Brennon may have a problem speaking, but his gentleness, compassion and touch are more than capable of communicating how he feels to his new bride, Cadence. Though at first concerned that the marriage to another brother would negate the deal that had been arranged, Cadence is relieved to find that her groom is the bear of a man who defended her against his nasty degenerate brother. The sparks of attraction and the soul deep connection are hard to deny and impossible for each to resist. His speech problems in no way detract from his hero qualities as Cadence soon proves to him. Will they fight for their love and a happily ever after neither ever expected was in the cards for them?
I loved Cadence and Brennon’s story and look forward to reading the next books featuring his friends with their own physical challenges. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Brennon was once CEO of his family’s company, but at 30 he had a stroke. He now has a lot of trouble speaking. He had built his own cabin in the mountains of Courage County. He went to his brother’s wedding and saw how his family treated the bride as well as himself. Andrew, Brennon’s brother and his parents are pieces of work. Poor Cadence was treated so poorly and she had to take it due to the circumstances of her deal. Brennon is my freaking hero. I fell in love with him and Cadence immediately. I envisioned a lot of ways to torment his evil family. I spent the first chapters growling because I immediately clicked with Cadence who I would consider a little chubby. I’m overweight and I’ve been called a lot of the names Andrew and his buds called her. Just because you go on a diet doesn’t mean it will work. I want to thank the author for putting this out there. Body shaming is prevalent in our society today. Plus, Cadence doesn’t seem to have any health problems so to me dieting isn’t the answer. Brennon saves Cadence by marrying her instead of Andrew.
Brennon and his buddies are awesome. I want all of their books.

Loved the storyline of this book as well as the characters. Brennon was once a wealthy, destructive billionaire who was ruthless running his family’s company. At the time, no one could touch his family with all their secrets. He was suddenly thrust from the public eye when he had a severe stroke related to a hole in his heart. Due to his aphasia and his regrets, he lives in the mountajns alone. He comes down for his brother’s wedding. Cadence has struck a deal with Brennon’s dad to marry his brother to attempt to get her dad out of jail for trumped up crimes that weren’t Committed. Her plans were to marry and find a way to take down the family. Brennon walks into the bridal sweet and sees Cadence and is immediately struck by her beauty. She is a curvy girl who is then sneered at and made jokes of by her attended and his groomsmen about her size/weight. Brennon defends Cadence and punches his brother multiple times and then marries Cadence himself. This is just the beginning of this great story as you see more into their relationship as the navigate troubled waters. This is a must read!
If you have encountered this book then don't think twice and dive in~♡ This was so wholesome! This book has my heart ❤️ 💯
I was in awe at how protective and possessive Brennon was about Cadence the biggest factor being it was not toxic and he is the biggest green flag ever. This couple is always going to have my heart. I loved how Cadence loved herself and how she was through it all. My girl was going to get back when she had her chance in the near future and I was so proud. Hat's off to Brennon for never once thinking of letting Cadence go. He was ready and set to woo her off if needed and I ate it up🤌🏻🤌🏻💯💯. The best lunch read ever👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.
My standards and self love remain ever high( if not higher😁) thanks to the book and this author. Will 100% recommend this to my fellow readers! I also love that you can read bonus scenes for free, and I just read the one meant for this book and OH MY GOD!!🤌🏻😍😍
The best everrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. 💖🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼💖 🌼🌼💗🌼💗🌼🌼 🌼💗💗💗💗💗🌼 🌼🌼💗💗💗🌼🌼 🌼🌼🌼💗🌼🌼🌼 💖🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼💖
Brennon was basically tossed once he was no longer use to his family - the Abernathys. Now, he is at the wedding of his brother, why no idea but we find out rather quickly. Enters Cadence, she is the marry Andrew through a deal she has made to free her father. However, Brennon has other plans once he not only sees Cadence, and Andrew is degrading and disrespectful to Cadence...but how does he tell her the truth about himself...although his brother has made fun of his disability already, Cadence doesn't know the whole story.
But Cadence has a secret of her own and although she married Brennon after a blow out with Andrew...she cannot let this throw off her plan...or will the feeling she is developing for Brennon change her and her plan and his actions to her is nothing like Andrew or the Abernathy family to her. What is a girl to do? Keep the deal of the marriage or tell the truth and hope the best happens?
You are gonna have to read to find out and best believe me..it is sooo worth it!!!!.

Married to the Mountain Man is a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, age-gap, enemies-to-lovers, curvy girl gets her hunky mountain man romance. Cadence is a young, curvy girl who is marrying her enemy's son to save her father. Brennon is a hunky mountain man who has limited verbal abilities after a stroke in his 30s. He used to be the CEO of his family's company but became an outcast after the stroke. He is the brother of Andrew, the man Cadence is set to marry. When he goes to attend the wedding, he is taken with Cadence and hears his brother making fun of her. He defends Cadence and claims he wants to marry her instead. She agrees, thankful to be saved from Andrew. But can she learn to love the son of her father's enemy? It's clear that Brennon is nothing like the rest of his family and is clearly already in love with her. Can Cadence let him in? Will he help her? I loved this couple. Brennon was completely swoon-worthy. I loved how he just wanted to make her happy and was willing to fight for her and her father. I love this whole series so much.
Everything Happens For A Reason - Even though Brennon was apprehensive about attending his brother’s wedding, he knew it was the best decision he had ever made when he met the bride and realised she was his soulmate. The last thing Cadence expected to happen when she agreed to sacrifice her life for her father’s release, was to find a man who would not only love her unconditionally, but also be prepared to defend her.
The start of their relationship may have been unconventional, but once they were together, it was truly magic. However, the was an obstacle between them that made their union potentially untenable, Brennon stepped in to resolve the issue when he found out, which gave them the chance at getting the happily ever after they both deserved. This story grabbed my attention and held on tight all the way until I finished reading it. It is the first book that I have read by this author, but it definitely won’t be the last.

Sweet and entertaining, this short insta-love novel was a fun read.
Cadence Beauford is about to marry Andrew Abernathy, a man she is repulsed by, but it's the only way to save her father from a prison sentence. The Abernathy family framed her father and stole the technology he designed that will make millions. But at the last minute Andrew's brother arrives causing a disturbance and insists Cadence marry him instead.
Brennon Abernathy has lived a fairly reclusive life since a stroke took his speach. It was also a good way to get away from the thieving family that turned on him after the stroke. Arriving at his brother's wedding, he sees him and his drunk friends bad-mouthing Cadence and calling her names, and he's had enough. He proposes to Cadence.
Will this mountain man be able to get Cadence to fall in love with him?
This book did feel rushed and the relationship between Cadence and Brennon could have used a little more development.
Although some aspect of this book felt like a four star read, I couldn’t give this less than five stars because I am so in love with Brennon! As a Speech Pathologist, reading about a character struggling with aphasia and the resulting lack of verbal speech just steals my heart and instantly makes me fall in love. Add in his possessive nature and sweet heart and I’m a goner.
Brennon and Cadence meet when she’s supposed to marry his brother as part of a deal to save her father. Brennon knows she deserves better and instantly takes her as his own. He’s determined to win her love but she thinks he knows about the deal with his father. I thoroughly enjoyed Brennon’s determination to talk to the love of his life and to make her life easier in any way possible, even if it means losing her. I enjoyed the progression of their story and their ending was really beautiful.

This was the perfect short read. This book was about Brennon and Cadence and their shotgun wedding and how they came to fall for one another in such a short time. Brennon, a rough around the edges Mountain man, who's seen his fair share of tough days. After a stroke that left him unable to speak, he moved to the mountains to get away from the spotlight of his cruel family and their business. Cadence, a beautiful curvy women who took Brennon's breath away from the moment he claimed her, with an evil plan and intentions on the horizon to ruin his family she wasn't sure he'd ever forgiver her, but what he ended up sacrificing, she's never be able to repay him.
Their love story though short, it was sweet and detailed. I loved the ending and this was a single day read. I can't wait to read more from Mia, and finish the Mountain Man / Courage County Curves Series. I love a good romance featuring Rough and tumble men, and their curvy women!
This book got me out of my book slump!! I loved Brennon and Cadence. A quick but a really good read!! Marriage of convenience to a rugged mountain man to save her dad? Sign me up!
"I ruined my brother’s wedding. I punched him in the nose and took his bride for my own" - The perfect way to start a synopsis 😍
This is the second book i have read that had a disabled MMC and i liked how Brennon's story was portrayed. It showed his daily struggles with communicating and how he dropped his guard for Cadence. She showed him so much patience and love 😊😊 ✨5/5 ✨
⛰️ Dual POV ⛰️ Likeable FMC / MMC ⛰️ Touch her and die vibes ⛰️ A curvy FMC ⛰️ A mute MMC ⛰️ Marriage of convenience ⛰️ Both virgins ⛰️ Both fall first but he falls harder ⛰️ HEA
✨ I might have to scope out the rest of the series!! Just when i think I'm out of the ranch/ cowboy era I'm now adding Lumberjacks to my kink list.. I need all the recs✨
Brennon was not sure if it was a good idea to attend his brother's wedding, he probably should have just sent a gift. Brennon had not been around people much in the last two years, a whole in his heart caused him to have a stroke. He has a hard time talking and lives in the mountains. He takes one look at his brother's bride to be and thinks she should be his. When his brother insults her, he punches him and takes the bride for his own.
Cadence knew this was not going to be a good marriage it was just an means to an end to he father's incarceration. His brother on the other hand seems to be better than the rest of the family, but she cannot lose sight of the fact of why she is here.
But there is something about this mountain man that fulfils all of her fantasies.
