Chigira and Kisaragi are now fake dating in order to address the new norm caused by them having fake feelings for one another. Also, Kisaragi is her own worst enemy, just like she was last volume and probably will be next volume too.
This is the point where the premise of this book got stretched so far that I finally snapped. There is very little - in fact, there is absolutely nothing - different between fake dating and actually dating except Kisaragi’s insane attempts to fit what they’re doing into her own narrative.
I get that the whole point is that she’s had such incredibly bad luck with dating that she can’t realize the real thing when she sees it, but nobody should be this dense for this long unless they’re actively deluding themselves.
Like I said, Kisaragi is the villain of this story - if she believed in herself for five seconds the whole thing would be over and they could go off and be happy together. I don’t care how many knots the story tries to twist itself in, this is way beyond sense now. The premise should not be so immutable that it throttles the characters.
So when Kisaragi ends up activating Chigira’s rival for her affections because of her staggering lack of self-confidence, well, it’s not the most shocking thing given how the book’s been going. Her ridiculous agreement and the book’s cliffhanger are only halfway plausible because of how she behaves.
I feel bad picking on Kisaragi, but Chigira’s got the patience of a saint and he’s incredibly good to her the whole way. He offers to give her instructions to work on the whole fake dating thing and they don’t tap this well nearly as much as they could have - the little we get is very cute.
They have a super sweet date and a really ‘d’aww’ moment when Kisaragi uses Chigira’s first name for the first time and the whole cardigan thing is sweet from start to end. It really shows that when this book does what it does best, it’s actually really darn good.
When just enough of the premise is informing the content it’s pretty satisfying, but rather than loosen it up a little the series seems to be doubling down and the strain on the credulity is really grating.
2.5 stars, rounded up because when this is fun, it is fun, but it’s not fun enough. This series has a lot of wasted potential and your tolerance for it is decidedly bound up in how much of Kisiragi being a ninnyhammer you can tolerate. She just got on my nerves a little more than I could take this time out.
Cela m’a vraiment agacé.
After a hard day, I love to read a soft fluffy shojo manga. This one fits the bill. There’s nothing ground breaking, just beautiful artwork, cute characters, and a sweet story.
So wow it kinda took a while for me to finish reading this bc I pretty much read other stuff before this but nonetheless, here's my review.
After saying last volume how I kinda dislike Chigira-kun having no emotions and such, I'm kinda happy we saw a lot of different expressions from Chigi-Chigi this chapter and that is honestly the biggest reason why I rated this 4 stars. One more thing I like from this is Maaya finally starting to open up more to Chigira. This volume was packed with really cute and sweet moments from the lead. Honestly, the only reason why I'm not giving this a full 5-star rating is bc Tezuka annoys me so much. And honestly, it pains me to think that he will continue to appear/get more "screentime" than he already is getting. Anyway, I can only hope for more sweet moments and less Tezuka for the next volume.
While there were some cute moments between Maaya and Chigira-kun, I’m starting to get a bit annoyed with how Maaya has such issues with her own denseness and how she thinks no one could return her feelings. It’s becoming very clear how Chigira-kun feels for her through his actions which is sad, but then Malaya’s issues got her into the situation she’s currently in. Also I no longer like Chigira-kun’s friend: Tezuka-kun. At first I found him amusing but now I find him pretty irritating with his behavior.
I really like this series so far, it's cute and light. Teen love in shoujo manga tends to feel heartwarming for me, this one too. I get why ml proposed his idea but as I read the stories there's time where I kinda want him to come clean or at least stop using that p-word. Overall I really enjoy the stories and characters, I get the fl and ml anxiety after learning more about them but once they stop using the p-word it's getting even more enjoyable and cute for me. Oh and of course it's a slow burn well not burn but you get what I mean.
There are days when I want a light read, and those days I often end up picking a Shoujo manga. They're soft, fun, cheesy... but also very cliched. And that's okay. This one isn't any different but still, I found myself turning the pages and laughing out loud. I love that there isn't really a love triangle and they're all mostly cute characters.
The story is showing a relationship through the lens of a "fake relationship" and there are moments where the book shines. However, it is a little heavy with all the shoujo tropes and standard fair to set itself apart from the pack. It is still an enjoyable, light read.
Chiga wants more affection from his girlfriend!!! This is so stinkin cute. Maaya is still totally clueless that he’s into her for real. I like!!! So happy we get another volume!!!
What game is he playing? Also is she really that bad at understanding and seeing what is right in front of her? Don't let that man play games with you. I like her other track friend watching out for her.
