It all started on a date with a complete man-child, and it ended on the floor wedged between my three insanely hot older neighbors.
Did I mention one of them is my best friend’s dad?
I never thought I’d move back in with my father, but I didn’t intend on being dumped by my ex-fiancé either. Now that I’m home, I’ve been on dating apps trying to find a prince among crooked d*c pics and grown men obsessed with video games.
It hasn’t been easy.
Or at least it wasn’t, until I was rescued from a bad date by three silver-haired hotties, who also happen to be my next-door neighbors. Their proposition was innocent enough. They just wanted to show me what a real date with real men would be like. But their lessons were far too effective, and now I’m caught in a scandal....
There’s Holden, a spicy chef with silver temples and high cheekbones. He makes my mouth water with every kiss.
Dominic is a solid wall of muscles and the CEO of all silver foxes. I’ve always been a willful woman, but when he commands me, I am putty in his firm hands.
And then there’s Barrett who looks at me with an intensity that says anything but daughters’ best friend. He’s known me my whole life, and now he’s ready to claim me completely.
They should all be off-limits. Especially since I just started working with them, and both my father and my best friend would KILL me.
But would I let my life go up in flames to have the three of them touch me again? Abso-FN-lutely!
18+ Only. Daddy's Next Door is an extra spicy laugh-out-loud why choose romance. HEA guaranteed!
3.5* I did consider giving it 4* but I just couldn't.
OK so I loved the story I love age gaps and RH, boss and employer, best friends dad. Over protective Alpha males, hot steamy sex 🔥🔥🥵and this book had it all so that was a great bonus. I'm not really into D/s lifestyle but what was mentioned in this was just enough to be not too much for me (if that makes sense). So yes I liked the story ticked all the boxes.
What I didn't like and the reason for 3.5* is a couple of things. Starting with Sugars name I'm sorry but who names a child that it was ridiculous at the beginning I was confused I thought the guys were just calling her it as lovely nickname not her actual name and it just annoyed me more throughout the book. Next at the beginning of the book she's came across as this mature 24(I think it was) year old just gone through a break up and starting to date again. But then after been with the guys she turns in this bratty whiny attention needed girl. Having tantrums and making a scene in the officers or in the house because she wasn't getting the attention she wanted or the guys had been busy with work and hadn't spent any time with her. Stomping around and shouting in the office so that she made enough of a scene so Dom would punish her over his desk. Her just always thinking that the guys didn't want her after sleeping with her but then been busy with work it really just got on my nerves and I kept thinking she really just needs to grow up and instead of throwing tantrums just talk to the guys like a normal adult . Lastly the ending when the guys find her and she's read the letters they wrote to her and afterwards goes running and screaming towards them shouting "Omg my men are here, Omg my guys love me everybody move out the way" I was erm...yeah ok because that is really mature it seemed like she was in her teens and the guys she liked and just come to her and not the 40+year old men that they are. It was a bit cringe to me.
I did really like the guys and the plot of the story and Sugar at times it was just what I've mentioned which lead to this review.

This was an awesome one-sit read for me and I'm very much coming to trust this author to deliver a fab story that I can fully immerse myself in. Sugar, or SJ, was a great character. She was sweet and funny and brave. We meet her on a bad date and I have to say I giggled away with her inner monologue ;) To her rescue are three older men, one of whom is her bestie's dad. They offer to show her how a real man would date her and yep, steamy times ahead ;P I absolutely loved Sugar's Gma, and how she understood and supported Sugar so well. Of course, there is drama, both family and otherwise, danger, and angst to keep things at a fever pitch. Dominic, Barrett and Holden were beyond dreamy and brought many layers to the relationship. These three friends become a real family with the addition of Sugar. Expect these characters to bring all the emotions you'd want in a romance to life, so grab a glass of something cool, some tissues and be prepared to read past your bed time ;D
SJ took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. She upset me, made me happy, shocked me and surprised me. SJ was a version of every girl ever doubting herself at one point in her life or another. Completely relatable!
And that’s what I’m starting to realize about Rebel’s writing. She always gives us a relatable FMC — of the men makes us swoon and sweat. But the women are always a dose of fresh air!!
A funny rom com that will have you giggling one minute and fanning yourself to cool off the next. The author has a gift for adding spice, but the humor was spot on and definitely the author's strength! I will definitely read more from this author as the humor was exactly what I was looking for! The reverse harem spice was delicious frosting on top of the humor for me!
I'm on a rebel bloom reading kick rn and I've concluded that she fucking HATES all her female leads. I mean seriously? A 3rd act breakup is fine but how come you torture the poor women everytime?
She got harrased by an ex, verbally abused by her father, her best friend, the entire fucking INTERNET after being exposed of sleeping with 3 older men who happen to be her bosses. Meanwhile they did fuck all about it. They helped a bit sure, but not nearly enough to justify the absolute fuckery of everything. This is a common theme with rebel bloom. Absolutely demolish the female lead then have her forgive and forget all of it to give her a HEA the next chapter. It's so icky to read. I get that Angst is expected in reverse harem books. But COME ON IT'S SO OVERKILL. You never let the female lead REST, it's always sex, insecurities and misunderstandings between the 4 of them or the massive outside problems caused by people around them.
All in all, if you want to stress and feel the pain of the female lead being crushed by the world. Read rebel bloom! The couples are cute...until you get to the end where all hell breaks loose.

Shhhhhh I didn't read this in one sitting and enjoy it and no I'm definitely not ashamed of its incredible cringeyness .... LOOK OVER THERE *runs away clutching authors next book*
Rating: 3.5 It was good. I couldn’t get past the fact that her name was sugar. It just felt like a nickname. Also she seemed mature at first and then she just turned into a whiny immature girl lol.
Probably an unpopular opinion but this was rather disappointing and not one of Rebel Bloom's better works. It started out so strong and good and I was loving every bit of it. Until our FMC turned into a complete brat. Tell me how it makes sense that she laments over wanting a mature man but acts like a whiny child? In the beginning, she seemed all reasonable and great, but after their first night, she transformed into an ill-mannered spoilt kid. Literally, as someone who worked in the childcare industry, she really resembled the 5 year olds I've taken care of.
The FMC had a horrible habit of making assumptions, jumping to conclusions and then blowing up at people. And the guys just sit there and take it even though one of them thought he's had enough of this kind of petty arguing in his previous marriage. And ok, one of the other guys likes punishing her so she might be bratty to get that. But there's a difference in putting on a bratty act for attention and being a completely childish brat over unreasonable matters.
The guys had the patience of saints because no matter how many times she blew up on them, they would reach out and try to resolve it. They were very mature, they acted their ages, they were communicative and respectful. And our FMC, who has LONG been wishing for this type of man to enter her life, decides that she was not the luckiest woman in the world to land 3 great guys and resorts to crying fits, raging unreasonably and throwing tantrums. Imma say that maybe her dad had a point that her mom naming her "Sugar" probably fked up her character because what is wrong with this girl?!
I'm so let down because this book started out so good and then spiralled just like our FMC. I hate to say it but the only amazing takeaway were the men and grandma. Glad the FMC got therapy in the end, she sure as hell needed it.
Such a great story! It was so good and very well written. The characters were well thought out and their dynamics were well written. Very engaging and it draws you in supper well. Absolutely loved it. The steam was really good. About 3 chili peppers maybe. I also loved the grandma! She was one of the best parts of the story. 10/10 recommend.
I haven’t had a book bring me to tears from laughter and sadness all within a few pages in a long time. This book was hilarious from beginning to end with some angst and pain thrown in. A fantastic story and beautifully written. And that spice?! 🤌🏻🤌🏻
Your gonna have to hear me out on this VERY questionable title… call me crazy this book was so beyond good I was laughing and crying all at once Love a good why choose
Exactly what I wanted to read at the moment. I always know what I’m going to get when I read a book from Rebel Bloom.
I have to admit that from the title of the book I thought that there would be some daddy kink, but that wasn’t the case. Other than that it was pretty kinky and had some bdsm elements that her other books don’t really have.
All mmcs were amazing and the fmc was a unique character lol. Overall pretty fun RH read :)
I love it when her books have me laughing out loud. It's not just toe curling scenes, it's also really funny banter and circumstances. Another great book by a great author
OMG GUYS THIS WAS SO FRICKING CUTE! this was actually perfect and it honestly had way more substance then i expected it to. it was super sexc and every guy was equally amazing<3 it was vry developed and i loved the relationships so much. sj was funny and a cutie and i loved her as well. i rly wished there was an epilogue but it’s still for sure 5+ stars🩷
‘She waved me off. “Better hurry. They seem to be following you around like baby ducklings. I’m sure they’ll be walking off the elevator in two seconds.”’ clingy guys>>>>>>
‘I’d quickly learned that I couldn’t focus with Dominic so close to me, oozing bossiness, so I’d started hiding from him with Cindy. It never took him too long to walk down and check on me before going back to his office, something that Cindy found adorable.’🥹🥹🥹
‘To my guys. If you haven’t gotten it by now, I’m crazy in love with each of you. I miss you. I miss watching you scowl while reading my blog, H. The food reviews. I miss seeing you get huffy because I complimented another chef’s food. I miss your pasta. It’s as gentle as its maker. I miss listening to you sing in the shower, B. You sound like shit, but I love it. I miss seeing you look offended when you realize I’m laughing at you. I miss your abs. There are just so many of them. D, I miss watching you pretend to work. I miss seeing that infinite amount of control you have slip when you can’t focus because I’m close by. I miss teasing you and being in your lap while you read. I miss your beard. Every spot of beard burn I have has healed.’
‘When I said I’d find you, I meant it. There’s no place on this earth that I wouldn’t spend my savings and my life trying to reach for you, Sugar. I’ve missed you. I’ve missed smelling peaches while hugging you and taking an extra moment to think of you sitting with the sun shining down on you, making your eyes sparkle as you smile at me. I love you, Sugar. You already know that, though, don’t you? I think I fell in love with you the moment I read your blog. You made me want to try again. You made my marriage ending and everything that came after feel insignificant. I thought I had shit figured out and you blew in, smelling like peaches, and knocked me for a loop. It’s time to come home. You, the baby, Grandma, and anyone else you’ve collected with your magic. I love you. Barrett Taylor (I want people to know who loves you.)’
‘Never have I ever known a woman who could simultaneously snap my control and bring it into a pinpoint focus. Until you. Until you, I’d let my past experiences color my decisions. I let past shames dictate the way I lived. My desires were dark and dirty. I had a hard time understanding how they would ever work in a relationship. Until you, Sugar. You slipped so seamlessly into the darkness and brightened it. What I needed, you needed, but it isn’t dirty. You opened my eyes without trying and showed me that I can bring myself to a relationship that is still full of softness and fun. You make me laugh. Goddamn, do you also make me crazy. You never think about your own safety and I’ve personally seen you talk to so many strangers on the sidewalk in the city that I think I need to go on blood pressure medicine. You push me nonstop. You’re sassy and confident and you don’t back down. You’re no one’s submissive, yet you’re my pet. You give that to me. You showed me that what we do, how we love, has no shame. Love doesn’t deserve that. And what I feel for you, Sugar? It’s fucking love. It’s all-consuming and life-changing. It’s the kind of love that men fight and win wars for. You’re coming home. You’re getting the spanking of a lifetime for leaving us. As long as it’s safe with the baby. And then you’re going to spend your life being fucking worshipped. I fucking love you, Sugar. Dominic Rose (It’s just a thing now? Signing our whole name in a letter to the woman we love, like she doesn’t know it’s us? Thinks it’s her other three loves? I’m surrounded by fools and need my woman back.)’
‘In a pile in the middle of a courtyard full of golden oldies, she pinned us and covered our faces in kisses. Her hands clutched at us, holding us there, like she was afraid we’d vanish. It was only when her kisses became wet with her tears that Dominic held her still and smiled up at her.’🥹🥰
‘He unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt, revealing the single letter S over his heart.’
SOME SPOILERS, I didn’t click the button because you’d probably either figure them out because of the blurb or if you already half way through
Not gonna lie the title was almost a dealbreaker. Even though I love the whole age gap thing. And guilty pleasure I kinda like the ones where its the best friends dad. But I don’t think it was a fitting title except for one character. And the conflict with the best friend was hard too. But it’s yet another book I came for the spice and ended up loving the love story more. If your looking for an even balanced book this it if but I have a few small critiques. And that’s why it gets a 4 star
I don’t like the way they handled the situation with Sam finding about her father and her best friend being together, plus the situation of said relationship. Especially since Sugar had to be dragged through the mud for it to happen. Not cool. Although, I guess it gave her perspective on how Dominic felt in his situation, and it made some other characters come to their senses about the way they treated her, and ultimately brought her closer to her family outside of her men, I still don’t like it
During the whole fiasco, and the moments leading up to it I feel like there could have been more heart felt conversations and connections between Sugar and Barrett. I just wish we could’ve seen his perspective on Sugars insecurities towards telling Sam. Him reassuring her, them having the conversation about his past, Barrett was the only one who didn’t have those conversations with her in the book, even though Holden and Dominic urged her to talk to him. All in all, I would have love to see him reassure her or have some alone time where just the two them addressed talking to Sam, she learned more about him outside of the man who was just her best friends dad before their relationship. It might have been weird for Sam but maybe it wouldn’t have been so hard on Sugar the way it came out. Maybe if Barrett had stood up for Sugar when his ex was being a bitch. He could’ve slipped into another room to check to see if she was ok, and Sam could’ve found out that way. Especially if certain conversations and connections that Barrett and her didn’t have, had happened before. Even if only to show their dynamic like we saw with Dominic and Holden. But I digress
It all works out. The letters thing the did to get her back after all that mess was just the coolest and sweetest thing.
Also, the thing with Sugars ex should’ve ended with Dominic and Barrett threatening him the first time that one night. Those other tidbits just were too much, especially in light of how thing, and especially i still think Sugar got way more heat for the relationship all around than was necessary for the story
All in all i loved the whole thing, if my complaints said different its only because they really are small irritations (except the Sam thing, but ill get over it). I’m a sucker for these because there’s always the strong dominant one who is primary to others in his possessiveness even though its all for her benefit, the caring one who while he has similar qualities as the dominant one and vice versa you don’t see the opposite isn’t the other often, and the one thats the silly playful one with a heart of gold. But to see them deter to take on the qualities of the others just because their girl has loved them each individually in a way that makes embrace the other qualities she likes in all of them, its just sweet.
Also can we stop faulting the writer for writing what makes these guys like the FMC. Seriously she’s too bratty, what we in our 20s were allowed to have insecurities but these FMCs are not. We grew up, so will they, especially with these Why Choose stories, and the these men to support their girl on her way to growth
Did someone say daddy issues? Because this book definitely hits the nail on the head.
The heroine Sugar (AKA SJ- Sugar Jane) is 25 ...first of all, who names their daughter Sugar?! She is a freelance writer who on the side runs a food blog.
Dominic, Holden, and Barrett are the heros in their forties. They are semi famous restauranteurs.
While Sugar is on the worst date, she runs into Barrett, her best friend Samantha's father, and his 2 best friends/business partners. With their help, they get Sugar out of the date and then take her out on the town to show her how a date with a real man (or men in this case) should treat a woman. After the night of her life, she decides to sleep with them. However, come morning she realizes that she just slept with her best friend's father and feels so guilty that she leaves before they wake up.
The men wake realizing not only that she is gone, but that they want more than one night with Sugar and not only for the sex. After finding and reading her food blog, Barrett gets the guys to hire her as their marketing writer for their social media. Sugar takes the job with the condition of "no funny business." Of course though after spending time with each guy, she falls into bed with each of them and the lines start to blur but her guilt gets heavier.
Now for the ****spoilers*** and my review
The story comes to head when her best friend finds Sugar's journal and posts pictures of it and writings of her entries about her time with the men. All because she is angry that Sugar never told her about being in a relationship with her father!!! In the end, Sugar forgives her because of her own guilt about not telling her. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Sugar gets harassed online by people telling her what a whore she is and posting death threats and she just forgives her "best friend." No. No. No. I don't even understand how even Barrett can forgive his daughter. She not only put HIS professional career in jeopardy, but also the woman he LOVES. I don't know how they both bounced back so easily from that.
What I really liked about this book though was how sweet the men treated Sugar. They treated her like an adult and were constantly reassuring her and building her up. On the flip side, what I didn't like was how much of a brat Sugar was. She really showed her age and that sort of pissed me off. I wanted her to be a little more mature considering her new relationship with older men. From the beginning I didn't really like how she threw herself at the men when she really didn't know them. I thought maybe it was because she had a high confidence level and knew what she wanted. Then all the sudden she was this quirky awkward woman who couldn't make up her mind about anything? Her character was just all over the place. Then at the end she tells the men she is pregnant by posting it on her blog post. REALLY?! After everything that happened, she couldn't have that one private moment with her men?
3/5⭐️ 4/5🌶️ I’m always up for a good reverse harem, why choose, age gap story. Dominic, Holden and Barrett were amazing and sexy older men. I loved Sugar until about halfway through the book. When she started becoming this needy bratty girl instead of a successful 25 year old woman. I was thinking of not finishing but powered through which I’m glad I did. Loved learning some of the back stories of Holden and Barrett. The author didn’t go into much detail about Dominic except that people hated him when it came out he was a Dom in the BDSM world and that made him a sexual deviant somehow? Weird but okay, I guess some people are too uptight and vanilla.
The overbearing and passive aggressive stepmom was weird too. I can understand the dislike that one will have as their stepmom is in their early to mid 30’s married to your dad who is in his 40-50’s. But you are also dating three men in their 40’s so how’s that any different? Also the dad later on demanding Sugar quit her job or he’ll do it for her cause she can’t be working under a pervert is weird. She’s an adult let her be.
The best friend Sam I would have kicked to the curb for what she did. That was absolutely uncalled for in my opinion. You slandered your best friend because she was secretly screwing your dad, like I get it but get over it! Sugar was right not to tell her as she knew she’d go crazy and do something aside from disown her as a friend. I feel Barrett should have owned up to and fessed the truth about Sam’s mom being a serial cheater. After Sam became an adult and could fully understand why they divorced he should have tried to sit her down to tell the truth. Instead of letting his ex slander him but I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with that one. Good on Sugar for going to therapy for everything and trying to stay friends on behalf that she still loves her and is also doing it for Barrett too?
Last thing I didn’t care for was the surprise pregnancy. She stated she was on birth control the first night of passion she had with them. Did she just stop taking it after that? Like there’s no follow up on why she stopped. I know sometimes things happen and it’s not 100 proof but still. Nothing ruins a story more for me than the character ending up pregnant and being like omg how could I not have known?! I am going to try and read more of this authors books as I really did like this one but it seems surprise pregnancy, secret baby and surrogacy are main factors in all of them, so we’ll see.

Honestly there’s so many tropes in this book that it’s hard to think of one they’ve missed. But in all seriousness, it actually a fantastic read and I’ve loved every turn of the page. Ok, so the FMC’s name take a bit of getting used to at first because it does sound like it belongs in a Vegas Strip Club, but I think that’s almost the point. Sugar Jane is such a lovable character. Slightly flighty and sometimes a little needy, but when she finally allows herself to be looked after by her three very loving, caring and attentive men (men, not boys) she grows and blossoms.
Once again, all three men are just adorable and each in their own unique way. Dominic is powerful and dominant (as his name suggests). He always seems like the one in charge but is also the one who Sugar has totally wrapped around her finger. Barrett is the smooth and placid one. The peacekeeper and level headed one. He’s also Sugars best friend’s dad and the reason Sugar struggles so much with her feelings for these delicious men.
Speaking of delicious, there’s the delectably delicious Holden. The charismatic chef who knows the way to woman’s heart and yet has never believed himself worthy of love. Never felt it, until he met and fell deeply for Sugar.
This is one of those stories where you are waiting with bated breath for the shoe to drop. And my goodness, when it finally does… your heart sinks in so many ways. You come to love them all so much that you feel the hit so keenly.
And it’s the sign of a great writer who get you so hooked onto the characters that you immerse yourself into their feelings. It’s a skill, and Rebel Bloom is so good at it.
Yet another fantastic book. Whole heartedly recommend.
Daddies Next Door was about 25-year-old Sugar Jane "S.J" Sawyer, a freelance writer/food critic., Dominic Rose (CEO), Barrett Taylor (CFO), and Holden Notaro (a chef), the three co-owners of a company called Rotayno, who were all in their early to mid-40s.
S.J. had recently returned to her father's home after her (former) fiance broke things off and kicked her out of their apartment. She was also between jobs and was trying to promote her blog in which she critiqued restaurants. S.J. was on a date with a guy she had met on a dating app, but it wasn't going well. After excusing herself to the ladies' room, she saw three familiar men who were dining a few tables away. She recognized them as her BFF's father and his two friends. When they realized who she was and that she was on a bad date, they rescued her. They told her that they would take her on a date and show her how a real man treated a woman. Barrett, Dominic, and Holden took her to dinner, then to several bars before deciding to show her the building they had recently purchased that would be a new restaurant they were planning to open. While there, they had a foursome, after which they all fell asleep. The following morning, S.J. sneaked out while the men were still asleep. From the moment the men woke up and found her gone, they decided they wanted more with her and set out to make it happen
This was a really good reverse harem story. It had a lot of angst, drama, and twists and turns. There was a tremendous amount of humor, some heartache, and even a touch of betrayal (not between the four main characters). It had a different tone than most books with the reverse harem trope, and it worked for this story. Although it was longer than it needed to be, and it dragged a bit because of its length, it still managed to earn a five-star rating and a place in my Keeper for the Shelves collection.
