A past Sean Wyatt forgot catches up to him, and shoves him into the crosshairs of his most dangerous treasure hunt yet. Sean Wyatt of the International Archaeological Agency receives a desperate message from an old friend. It's a riddle from a five hundred year old text, a riddle only Sean and his team can solve.
Together with his wife, Adriana Villa, and best friend Tommy Schultz (the IAA Founder), the team travels to Istanbul, site of a grand theft at an auction in the affluent neighborhood of Besitkas. There, they uncover a mystery they never saw coming, and the rabbit hole opens wide.
But they aren't the only ones searching for this mythical treasure. With no end insight for the war in Ukraine, and casualties in the hundreds of thousands, the Russian president has sent his own team of elite soldiers to discover the location of an artifact they believe will not only end the war in one, swift stroke, but will make them the unstoppable superpower on Earth.
The adventure leads through the streets and hidden passages of Istanbul, where Sean and his team discover a secret they never imagined to be real.
Ernest Dempsey is a huge fan of action/adventure thrillers and science fiction.
He has been creating stories since he was in high school but never published a book until 2010, long after the days of high school were gone.
His action & adventure books come from a lineage similar to Clive Cussler, Dan Brown, Steve Berry, and James Rollins. While his science fiction novels are full of influence from Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, The Matrix movie, and Gladiator directed by Ridley Scott.
He is quickly becoming one of the hottest fiction authors in the book world.
After their epic adventure in China, Sean, Adriana and Tommy need a well deserved rest.
But whilst Sean and Adriana try to relax at home Sean gets a message from an old school friend Jack, saying that he needs his help in deciphering an old text in a chest that he might of obtained in an unusual way! . But as soon as Sean receives the message another one comes through and Jack has told him not to reply as he is in danger and he will find something at an address in Istanbul .
Intrigued by the message Sean and Adriana ask the head of the IAA and best friend Tommy Schultz to go with them to see what the mystery is all about.
Their journey takes them into the depths of the earth, high mountains as well as the mysterious depths of the sea.
What is so powerful that people will die for? Also with the Russian elite team after the same artifact, Can they protect and secure the artifact aswell as saving humanity?
I absolutely love the Sean Wyatt series, the camaraderie between the characters are amazing and there is just enough humour that it makes you smile throughout without the story becoming to heavy.
Sean receives a text from a friend from the past, asking for help with translating an ancient journal and where he can find it, stating that he is in danger.
Sean, Tommy and Adriana travel to Istanbul to recover the journal and to make sense of what happened to his friend. As the try to unravel the mystery in the journal about a mythical treasure of Poseidon’s Trident they start down a dangerous road.
Others are also seeking the Trident that they believe could change the balance of power for the world. As they race to figure out the clues to find it, they are in peril from an elite team of Russian soldiers who are trying to find it first.
The story has lots of action and is a thrill ride you will enjoy. With the many twists and turns as the story progresses it will keep you turning pages and you will find it hard to put the book down. Join the journey as you read the story to see if the Trident is even real and what will happen next.
Another action-packed Sean Wyatt thriller. A couple of times a year I get to indulge my guilty pleasure- sitting down to a new Sean Wyatt Archaeological Thriller. Poseidon’s Fury is the latest in the Sean Wyatt books and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Once again Mr. Dempsey ‘s story telling included just enough history and geography to set the hook, then he mixed in enough action and speculation to keep me rooted to my chair as I followed Sean, Tommy, and Adriana on this adventure. The only problem with this book isn’t with the book, it is that the next installment in the series isn’t ready today as I write this review. If you are a Sean Wyatt fan, I have no doubt you are reading or preparing to read this book, However, if you haven’t read any of these books, Poseidon’s Fury would work well as an introduction to the series and Mr. Dempsey’s writing – if you happen to pick this book up as your first, be advised you will be reading the previous twenty-one in short order.
POSEIDON'S FURY is the 22nd book in the Sean Wyatt Archaeological Thriller Series by Ernest Dempsey. Sean Wyatt, his wife Adriana Villa, and his best friend Tommy Schultz are one again on the hunt for a lost relic. A desperate phone call from an old school friend launches them on an adventure that ends up in the streets and hidden passages of Istanbul. The trio soon find out that they are not the only ones looking for this lost treasure. Will they be the first to find this lost relic? What has happened to their boyhood friend?
Once again Ernest Dempsey masterfully blends science, history, and imagination into an edge of your seat thrill ride that will not let you put it down. The interplay and banter between the three characters makes them come alive. The plot twist and surprises makes you feel like you on the hunt for the lost relic. This is a wonderful read crafted by a masterful writer. I highly recommend this book! #Amazon
Sean, Adriana and Tommy are back at it in this latest thriller by Ernest Dempsey, globetrotting and finding clues to one of history's more interesting characters, Poseidon. Sean gets a cryptic text message from an old acquaintance about something he left in an apartment and off they go! On the way, they learn of a theft from an auction and put 2 and 2 together but wonder about the theft. Hot on their heels is an elite Russian military unit, anxious to reclaim what was left by the acquaintance and whatever it is leading them to. Hijinks on the high seas, amongst other places, with old friends and new leads our heroes on a merry chase. I especially liked them taking a break in the hookah bar! Ernest has a way of mixing the real in with the fictitious to make it all so believable, and the story moves along at a good clip! Another great read in this series!
Another Sean Wyatt that will keep you trying to figure out what his next move will be. Some times laughable, some times it tries to be a tear jerker. It seems like I always find out something new when I read a Sean Wyatt book. In this book, Poseidon's Fury, he gathers his group of cohorts to try and follow what the next lead is to the next lead (clue) is. Some of the things he gets his group into, I had to stop and scratch my head to figure out how he conned them into helping him. Sean Wyatt, seems like he is always getting into trouble (if you have read his other exploits you know what I mean) This time blowing up castles, loving falling into the sea, getting chased by all the "bad" men. This is a good book to enjoy when you need a worry, a laugh, no not a cry! I am amazed at how the typos and layout have changed. I only found a couple of typos and this makes me a happy camper.
3.5 stars rounded up. The story starts out very much like an Indiana Jones novel with all the archeological elements of discovery and danger. It quickly moves to figuring out the significance of a treasure chest left behind by a successful ancient Turkish admiral / pirate. Of course, there are competing interests looking to retrieve the admiral’s secrets / items.
The story moves along quickly, as much of the discussion between Tommy and Sean is filled with an abundance of small talk -- occasionally focused / frequently not. This contrasts with the conversations between the “bad guys,” which are more focused and less chatty. Tommy and Sean’s discussions / actions seem to be more like detective apprentices than established members of a respected archeological organization.
It's always a joy to read another book from Demsey. I have to ration myself as once started they are very quick to finish and there simplay aren't enough published each year.
Sean, Tommy & Adriana are one the hunt for the ultimate weapon, although none really believes it exists. Naturally the 'bad guys' have the same idea and their paths collide resulting in more close encounters with death. I do sometimes wonde how many lives Sean has but am happy he keeps going to have new adventures.
Every book does have a similar format but who cares, the adventure is the journey we are on. For me it's finding out about new hostirically important places that I hope myself to visit one day and not just live through Dempsey's pages.
This is one of Mr. Dempsey's finest stories to date! I do not say that flippantly. I have read all of the books in the Sean Wyatt series (as of Aug. 2023) and I feel this is one of his best. He has researched the topic thoroughly and has presented a wonderful story. He utilized his characters wisely, letting each one's personality shine. I fortunately, I am now forced to wait.I til the next Wyatt tale is published, something I truly detest. I want that next story of th series to be ready for my reading NOW; especially since this one was so good.
I enjoy Ernest Dempsey's stories and the intrigue that accompany Shaun and Tommy's adventures, but I am honestly getting very tired of their juvenile sarcasm and jokes. The "boys" are not 16 any more and invariably they find themselves in dire straits and yet they spent significant wasted time bickering like two little boys. After 20+ books I think it's time for Dempsey to let the boys grow up and learn something from their many previous exploits. Adriana is the usually the only adult in the room and it's a wonder she can put up with them.
This latest Sean Wyatt book doesn't disappoint. It is the usual mix of 'Indiana Jones' style treasure hunting and thriller and is set in Turkey and Italy. The hunt for Poseidons trident through underground tunnels with cryptic clues aplenty lead Sean, Adriana and Tommy to castles and crypts. All the while being pursued by Russians intent on recovering the trident to assist the outcome of the war in Ukraine. An easy read.
Love the humor, love the connection between Sean, Adriana and Tommy, love Sean's desire to give Jack the benefit of the doubt. Lots of action, lots of getting out of tight situations. Didn't see a few things coming which is always a nice surprise. Should definitely be on your "Gotta Read" list, you won't be disappointed. Love the Author's Notes at the end. This is Book 22 and I hope there are still lots of adventures for the IAA team. Great job!! Thank you!
As usual, Ernest has done it again! His stories are so exciting and hold you on the edge of your seat until the end. I'm always guessing who the bad guy is and I'm usually wrong. It's the one you least expect! I always learn a lot with his stories too. I know they are fiction but there is an element of truth in each one. It's so interesting and I've developed a whole new love for history and archeology. They are the best!
Was Poseidon and his trident real? Has it been used in the past and does it still exist? Sean and Tommy and team are sent on the hunt for this mythical weapon to find if it's real and if not why are the Russians searching so hard for it? Join in on this action packed ride to see what is truly uncovered!
Another great adventure with non stop thrills and danger! Good "bad guys" and some plot twists... Lots of good historical background in the process. Tommy, Sean, and Adrianna are wonderful good guys, and I never tire reading their exploits. Thanks to Mr. Dempsey for bringing them to life.
Sean, Tommy & Adrianna just seem to magnetically attract trouble and world class mysteries that just need to be solved. I loved the descriptions from what seem mostly first hand experience, coupled with exhaustive research. A fun and captivating read!
Another IAA book I couldn't put down. I love the banter between Sean and Tommy. Laughs as well as intrigue is a great combination. We always get history as well with Mr. Dempseys book's too. I liked that Adriana was included in this one as well. Unfortunately, now I have to wait for the next one. My hats off to you again!!!
This was one book I didn’t guess the end. It was filled with action and excitement. My only complaint…I wish there had been more archaeology and history in the story. A lot is inferred, but I missed the usual history lesson. Still an outstanding read you can’t go wrong.
This book explores how a legendary character of history could defeat his enemies with the Trident of Posiden . Written very well, easy to follow and brings I into today’s context with current events in the world. I enjoyed reading it. I will read the next story in this series!!
I have read all the Sean Wyatt, IAA stories so far. They aren't brilliant but good steady reads to pass the time. I regard them as my rainy day reads when the weather is poor and I need a story to distract me. Being quite a prolific reader, they aren't in my top spot but worth a read if you are looking for an entertaining story.
As always with the Sean White adventures this was a great book. I love the main characters and all the books and their interactions with each other. The story lines are always so good. They take me all over the world. Thank you
A past Sean Wyatt forgot catches up with him. A riddle from a from a five hundred old text, which only Sean and his team, can solve. I liked this book a lot. A Indiana Jones style read , fast paced, and lots of action.
A frantic call gets Sean and company heading out to the Mediterranean where adventure pits them against the meanest Russians they have ever faced. Fast paced and leads to an incredible finish.
For those of you who enjoy good ole treasure hunting adventures this book will most likely tick all the boxes. It’s a fun and easy read with a touch of whimsy mixed with all the things someone wants out of a treasure hunt story.
I am continually amazed by the thought process that goes into writing this kind of story and, also, the level of imagination required to keep coming up, book after book, with so many different scenarios, with the same cast of characters. Kudos to the author.
I enjoy archeological mysteries, and this one is spellbinding. I enjoyed the good natured bantering between Sean and Tommy. At times the action in the story had me now the edge of my seat.
Another great IAA adventure with Sean, Tommy and Adriana. This time they are searching for a legendary weapon created by Poseidon, god of the sea. Of cours it is tremendously powerful and in the wrong hands could destroy the world.... or save it.
For Sean, Tommy,Adrianna and the "kids"... although they played a minor role - still good to "hear" from them!!! I will never tire of reading these tales!! All very captivating and Gil Kf wonder.
