The political aspect of his life is interesting. Both the very bottom and the very top of society were deeply attached to mystical heresy, while the middle (conservative Ulema and their allies in the aristocracy) of society was against it. One of his closest friends in the government commission a translation of the Vedas into Persian, claiming that it was so congruent with the Quran it might as well be a commentary, which is an interesting view to say the least.
