Born Naked has woven the true story of Thapelo Makhutle into our imagined theatrical world. Today we celebrate the life of Thapelo. Today, we celebrate queer culture. Today we celebrate blackness and black queer culture in South Africa. You may find certain moments of the play triggering or challenging. Ultimately, Born Naked is a story about our humanity. It is also a story about the type of society that we have cultivated. Theatre is often hard to watch because we are confronted with realities in close and intimate proximity. I challenge you to think critically and courageously and to gently envision a society in which you, want to live in.
