When Lauren signs the divine contract promising bliss for the price of love, she expects to be granted the services of the highest ranking god of desire. To everyone's surprise this is a contested title and what was supposed to be a simple routine transaction becomes a mess of divine legalities, competitiveness and harsh decisions that involve a higher power, and the higher power is not happy about it. In this game of carnal delights and absolute stubbornness lives may be at stake, especially when an ex fury is put in an uncomfortable position that compromises the well being of her family. Welcome to fine print 2 this is where it gets weird.
Stjepan Šejić is a Croatian comic book writer and artist, known for his work on the series Witchblade, Aphrodite IX, Sunstone, and The Darkness among others.
Once again the combination of writing and art was amazing. Serious plot points mixed with splashes of comedy that made me laugh out loud as I've come to expect from their writing. Continue to love this series, now have to wait for volume 3.
My beef with Stjepan Šejić -- even though I applaud his groundbreaking work on kink-related comics -- is that his storylines are often muddled. But this volume is a major improvement in the series. The strange gods and goddesses, and their contracts, come (ho ho) into their own here, as does Lauren. There's a real good faith examination here of how sexual fantasy is tired into embarrassment and pain from the past. And the heightened sex from the gods, complete with "earthquakes" and butterflies released from one's stomach, represents the dangers of flying too close to the sun. So I'm inclined to stick with this comic book series to see where Šejić goes. There's always been a desire to study the dynamics of emotional intimacy in his work, but it's never emerged as crystalline as this. So yeah, this is a course correct for the series I'm happy to cheer on!
Definitely liked this one better than the first volume, which I think is mostly due to all the set-up stuff being out of the way. Overall, this comic isn't really doing that much for me, but I do enjoy the continued genderfluidity of lots of the characters even though the sex doesn't necessarily feel as queer as one might suppose from the amount of same sex interactions. 3,5⭐
I just apparently like all the things this guy does. Not a five star read, but that's mostly because so many things were left hanging. Most, actually. I should have never started this until it was all done, grr.
I am absolutely in love with this series. The art, as usual from Mr. Sejic, is absolutely gorgeous. I’m really enjoying the characters. There is definitely depth here I can’t wait to discover.
I pick this series up to look at the pretty, sexy pictures. So many gorgeous characters!
Reading all the words though, well, takes much longer than it should to get through a piece of erotica. Lauren Thomas talks constantly about her traumatic break-up and how she wants to use sex to distract herself. The incubus and succubus who are vying to be her designated sex toy talk constantly with their bosses and friends about the personal and political ramifications of this battle of the bimbos in themselves and in the larger scheme of the Greek mythology at play. Thankfully, everyone is scantily clad during these monologues and dialogues, but I do think all the gabbing is interfering with the frequency of actual sex.
Regardless of the blather, I'll be back for the next volume for more of the pictures.

Fine print has kind of really gripped me in its clutches now. That start made me really excited to see the stories unravel, especially since the characters all have so much at stake that has been set up wonderfully!
I mean, I love the magical godly mysteries, and the vengeful, spiteful rivalries, and god dang it if the colourful, expressive style of this doesn’t always gets me as well. It’s so full of vibrancy and sensuality and humour balanced with feeling and people with complex attachment issues…
Stjepan Šejić makes beautiful and evocative art, and his monsters make my tummy flutter. I love the casual fluidity of sex, and queerness, and magic, and tails in the imagery of this book, and I can’t wait for him to dabble in some other divine stories next year. I do still have to note the lack of diverse faces, features, and bodies for his characters though, because some of the characters really blend together visually for me.
This volume gets a spice score of 3.5. There are some beautifully explicit sex scenes, and heavy thematic through lines of sexuality and some kink.
~ Spoiler für Vol 1, also unbedingt in Reihe lesen! ~
The story moves kind of slow (and since it's a creator-led project, it's taken a while between Vol 1 and Vol 2, plus the creator has a preview for a second - maybe connected? - series starting in 2025 plus I think he draws Punderworld (which I'm also waiting on), so I'm going to be waiting a bit for Vol 3).
That being said - this series still FUCKS. Equal opportunity cheesecake. Much nudity (I took this with to read at a coffeeshop and LOLwhoops, I had to make sure no one was behind be because *whew* fans self)
I think Fine Print Vol. 2 is where Stjepan Šejić has really hit his stride in the series. I'll be honest I'm mainly reading this comic for the demon sex but I do enjoy well rendered characters, well structured plot and interesting worldbuilding in my smut too. I've become more and more gripped by the world of Fine Print. The overall lore of the underworld and the overarching political machinations of various groups really captured me in this volume. I'll definitely be keeping up with the rest of this series!
I really should have re-read volume one before picking up volume two but I was just so excited! I’ve learned my lesson and will be re-reading both when volume three releases. I can’t wait!
When you consider the type of signed a contract with The Devil or another God for something that you desire in exchange for.... (usually your soul), have you ever considered what would happen if that contract wasn't correctly drawn up, or what is in the fine print that you didn't bother to read? (and who reads the whole of these contracts anyway - did you reads teh Terms & Conditions of this site when you ticked 'I agree'?) Now you get the underlying storyline of Sejic's superb 'Fine Print'.
With Stjepan Sejic's wonderful artwork throughout this is a superb example of a ADULT graphic novel/comic book. The very theme is adult and the artwork very definately so. You could enjoy this purely for that artwork but the storyline is also wonderfully crafted and intricate enough to keep your attention from page 1. To be honest, you will find yourself a little confused if you start her and not with volume 1 but not so much that you won't pick up the storyline.
I will admit to being a fan of both Sejics' work and this book certainly doesn't disappoint and in hat respect I would unreservedly recommend to any fan of TV shows like 'Lucifer' - I can pretty much guarantee you will love it.
Šejić starts introducing more characters, subplots, and backstory in the last few issues of this volume (There are 16 "chapters" packed in here!) which were interesting, but possibly also revealing that his main character, Lauren, was beginning to feel a tad dry. Either way, his costume and character designs are always magnificent to behold (though I'm REALLY tired of how he only seems capable of drawing two or three faces for any female-presenting character - how can some really talented, thoughtful, and imaginative artists be so bad at drawing a range of face types?). If you've read Sunstone, Vol. 1, this series won't shock you when you turn to the smuttier pages, but working in the realm of gods allows him to come up with some fantastical concoctions.
I really enjoyed this next volume of this completely bizarre story. The two cubi take turns with Lauren... you know, take turns...elevating her to pleasures until her eyes start to bleed. That's weird and not supposed to happen, but I don't quite understand what happened there.
I liked the sections set in the cubi world and the interactions with some gods from Greek mythology. There's a lot of crossover here. Still not much of a fan of Lauren but everyone else is OK. This book is hard to write about without going into spoilers or describing stuff that would get a radio edit if this were radio. Some of the drawings are 100% x-rated but also mesmerizing. Artwork is top notch here.
"You desperately seek someone who can heal what has been broken."
"Can you?"
"Not with bliss. Bliss is not a cure. It is a numbness wrapped in sweet coating."
The plot thickens! The first volume had a lot of clichés but I'm glad that the second volume was able to dive deep into more realistic issues such as Lauren's trauma and Merryl's relationship with her mother. There is still no explanation on what happened to the first gold contract and the high caller that went missing so I hope it will be revealed in the next installment.
I was surprised at how much I wanted to find out what happened to the characters after the first volume, and in this installment we get story about even more characters. Like with soap operas, I find myself unable to look away from the drama, even, or especially when, the characters make bad decisions. I wish there were more story progression, or that the volume was longer, since diving into more characters in the same amount of pages takes time. I didn't realize that this was ongoing, mostly through the creator's Patreon, so who knows when I'll find out how all these threads are tied up.
Ooohhhh palace intrigue. Haha! Or godsrealm intrigue rather. So much politicking in this installment. Needs more of that “giving Lauren what she needs” parts and less of the fine print. I’m most interested in the side stories of Leliah and Thadeus. Their private affairs are so crazy! And I want to find out what is so special about Lauren that hers was a golden contract. And what’s going on with her emotional refluxes and the butterflies? If I had the third volume available I’d be reading it straight away again. But I have to wait. Waaahhh! 😩
Now that I’ve really clued in to Sejic’s habits that I really dislike (lots of talking in circles, just lots of exposition in general without plot movement, a crazy amount of sameface syndrome for someone so artistically talented), I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first volume. This is a great worldbuilding project that I don’t think suits a comic. 200 pages in this volume and we have inched forwards.
The story's still great, but I don't think I mentioned in my review of the first volume how beautiful Sejic's art is. I just love it, both the illustrations and the colors are just fantastic. The only negative thing is that it looks like I'm going to have to wait 3 years between each volume. *cries* Please don't let that be the case!
Seijic is an industry unto himself. all of Stjepan and Linda Seijic’s work too are smart, sexy, humorous and wonderfully illustrated. you’d think that the graphic nature of the work, compounded by the amount of kink, bondage, and homo/bi/pansexual activity, would limit the audience but it just kicks open the doors to pleasureful experiences.
Just as delicious as Vol1! Sejic is becoming my fav graphic novel artist and writer: the story is both epic, and focused on deep human experiences (like broken hearts, the agony of love, desire...). The art is gorgeous! All of this, and a dash of humour and spice (ok, way more than a dash!) I can't wait for the next installment!
What can I say at this point? Šejić just keeps making gold with every page he creates. The rich world building, psycholically believable characters being astonishingly realistic and not to mention character expressions that'll spell a thousand words and make you understand exactly how the characters complexe feelings are, is downright divine
Didn’t love the first one but this is growing on me. I like the lore and the world. I want to see where the story goes but I really dislike the narrator’s character. Also think the artist isn’t good at drawing faces. They all look the same.
