Katie's a beautiful, redheaded small town Texas diner owner. Cutter's the sexy rich rancher who's dating her. When things aren't progressing in the relationship as fast as Katie would like, she does a stupid thing and tries to make Cutter jealous with the town's bad boy. Except Katie lets things go too far, Cutter catches her (almost) in the act, and storms out of her life. Now Cutter won't forgive her, and Katie can't really blame him. But she still loves him. What can she do?
Cutter's furious with Katie. He thought she was "the one" but got scared and pulled back from the relationship, making Katie think that he didn't care. When she was unfaithful, it wrecked his world. But he can't get Katie out of his mind--he still wants her physically, but no way will he risk his heart on her again. When Cutter proposes a no strings, sex only relationship, Katie agrees, thinking this may be a way back into Cutter's closed off heart. Can Katie do the impossible and get Cutter to forgive her and give their relationship another chance?
Eh, this one was just okay for me. Nothing wrong with the writing, it was interesting enough to keep me reading, but I didn't really like either the hero or heroine. I thought Cutter was cold, arrogant, acted like a bastard much of the time, and was out to punish Katie and make her hurt as she hurt him. And I couldn't respect Katie. Yes, she made a foolish mistake and I believed that she regretted it, but I thought she was an idiot to let Cutter treat her the way he did. Maybe she thought she deserved that treatment, I guess. What these two needed was to act like a couple of adults, and talk out their problems--or leave each other alone. But then we'd have no story.:)
This is the second book in the Lone Star Lovers series, the first being Unbridled, which I haven't read. That one is about Cutter's sister and the two men in her life, one of who cheated with Katie in that book. So I'm guessing that this book picks up where that one left off.
If infidelity in your romances doesn't bother you, and you enjoy a story where a once loving couple try to find a way to put their mistakes behind them, you may enjoy this book. There's plenty of sexual activity, but I can honestly say that all of it was not the most loving kind. Things do work themselves out in the end, and the H/h get over their childish behavior, but I'm afraid it came a little late for me. 3 1/2 stars
Cutter is too good for all of these weak revolting people. Justin is a vile despicable piece of shit. Dani is pathetic and weak for marrying loser Justin. Katie is revolting.
I think I really like these short reads for the lone star lovers - this is Cutter and Katie (cute names together!) story. A year ago she was used by the towns bad-boy to get back at Cutter, who was dating Katie, because he wasn't good enough for Cutter's little sister. We start the book with Justin's marriage to Dani, and Rowe, and Katie crashing the wedding. Cutter uses her, and then feels bad and proposes they start a purely sexual affair. Trouble is, he doesn't use protection, and that seems to be his standard. It is easy to figure out he wants to be beholden to her once she is pregnant, but she doesn't figure it out until it is too late and the little one is planted. Cutter finally has it out with Justin, realizes his mistakes with Katie and his sister, and makes things right with Katie. You need to read both books, in order, to get all of the story and the cross-overs with both stories. A little bit of both is in the others stories but in these shorter books you need all of it to be complete. It is no hardship to read both, they flow nicely and are easy to devour!!
Katie Grissom came to Two Mule Texas to open a cafe. She had fended off most of the suitors focusing only on her cafe until she accepted a date with Cutter Standifer.
Cutter Standifer thought the gorgeous redhead that had moved to Two Mule Texas and opened a cafe could be his 'One'. That was until she betrayed him and broke his heart.
Katie is back in Two Mule Texas and Cutter is not in a forgiving mood especially when the man she betrayed him with is about to marry his sister. Cutter is determined to hurt Katie as much as she did him only things don't quite go as planned and Cutter is left to rethink what he really wants
Unforgiven is a great short read. This was a first for me with a heroine being unfaithful but the storyline was well written and the characters are very believable.
Cheating h. It was more a drunken mistake and the OM taking advantage of her. I actually liked the h and felt sorry for her, she was amazing. I don't understand why everyone supported the OM, Justin so much, he was manipulative and he used the h without care about her feelings, for his own devious purposes. I sympathised with the H, he seemed to be the only one who had the right idea about the OM. But apart from that I thought the H was a cold fish, at least with women - with a mean streak - and I didn't really see what the h saw in him or why she loved him. I also couldn't believe in the HEA- so the h ends up pregnant and suddenly the H loves her and wants to marry her...?! Unbelievable. Three star read: One of the romances where you feel the h could do far better.
What I really liked about this book was that the hero shared his feelings on the union between his sister and her two lovers (which started in bok #1). Often with menage books we don't really see how others around the couple +1 really feel about the arrangement. Here we saw that Cutter (terrible name) didn't like it one bit and that he was aware of the speculations the rest of the town had about the couple +1. I really liked seeing that side of the manage triangle.
Other than that, Cutter was a bit hard headed for my liking and I found Kate to be weak.
One of the best short erotica books. I remember reading this book a few years ago and the story of Katie and Cutter has always remained with me, as one of the saddest yet sweet books. The writing of this story is very good, it is erotica though with a solid love story thrown in. There isn't much romance between the two but it has never failed to make me feel happy at the end when the two finally tear down the barriers and fall in love. A good story, one I recommend if you like to read erotica with emotion.
A very emotionally charged novella--I wish it had been a full length novel--and filled with those unresolved issues that many bring to relationships. Betrayal, lack of trust, anger were all here as Cutter feels that he has been cuckolded by his special lady. He doesn't want to face the fact that he pulled away from her initially and thus caused her to wonder at the authenticity of his feelings for her. Lots of misunderstandings and very intense. A very good short read.
Another really quick read. (Man I usually hate the short ones!) Pretty much pure erotica. Somehow a nice little story did emerge, continuing the story starting with the wedding. Then moving on to Cutter and Katie going over their messy past and deciphering if they can have a future. I enjoyed this one!
I really dislike books with a cheating heroine but this book was so good. Devlin did a wonderful job of making you feel the heroine's pain and sorrow for what she did and even understanding (not agreeing with it--just understanding) why the heroine let it go that far.
Book 2 in the Lone Star Lovers series. Hot and sexy, tons of emotions and taking what you want. The only problem I had was the hero's quick jump to understanding. I wanted him to suffer just a little bit more.
For Cutter & Katie that morning didn't turn out very well. All it did was piss Cutter off!! Years later they're both still in love & they don't know what to do about it. What begins out of anger becomes stronger than before. Can they move on?
Some men are just slow and dumb, others just can't or wont forgive even when they are wrong or suffering. Cutter is a combination and he may just lose the one woman that he could ever love over something that was not completely her fault.
Why is it some men can be so very stubborn and thick headed? This guy sure was. I found it difficult to like Cutter at all. And for Katie to actually love him . . . Well I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
This is a pleasant enough bed - time story. The dreams may not be sweet, but probably hot.
A short erotic story about a couple that broke up and are now back in each other’s lives. I honestly loved it. For what it was, it was great. I was captivated and couldn’t stop reading it until I saw how it would turn out.
4.5 Stars This is book 2 in the Lone Star Lovers series and this one features Cutter Standifer and Katie Grissom. These two share a past full of love and betrayal. I was shocked when they met at the wedding and what transpired between them. I didn't think he could be so cruel to her. Then the agreement. WHAT? I thought it was perfect that it was Dani that helped her in the store. I'm glad I got to see Justin try to right some of his past wrongs. He really is a changing man. The one thing I LOVE in a good book is to witness the "AHA!" moment of the main characters. This story had a great "AHA!" moment.
This is another fabulous story by this amazing author. Looking forward to book 3.
You definitely have to read these books in order, the story just continued into book 2. I did like this book much better than book 1. I thought the story was more complete. I enjoyed the characters and their banter a lot. I also liked how Cutter struggled with his sister's decision. Looking forward to see what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Rock Star Lit.
Cutter loved Katie, but didn’t know how to show or tell her. Katie make a mistake that she immediately regretted. Katie crashes a wedding and ends up hooking up with him. They make an agreement. Can they hold to the agreement or with one or both of them want more? Can they ever make it past the mistake made? Come on in for a ride and find out what they decide.
De los 3 que he leido hasta este momento de esta serie este es el que mas me ha gustado aunque fue muy corto creo que la historia es las mas creible y tiene interesantes protagonistas...!!!
