Not as good as I had hoped!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗
World building: 🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 😔😘

The heroine: January - she went into robotics because she was an introvert with social anxiety who didn’t really like people. They made her feel self conscious and inadequate. She had been saving since college to open her own company but still didn’t have the funds. Her best friend, December was soon to become the queen of an alien planet and January was happy for her but still could barely believe aliens existed. Though January was soon to be the bonding witness at December’s bonding ceremony.

The Hero: Drax’ryl - he was a Rivian male and felt tremendous guilt because his ship crashed and he had life threatening injuries, which allowed slavers to capture the future queen. He was saved by robotic components and is now a cyborg and captain of the guard for the king and queen. He sees himself as less since he is part machine, a cyborg half-breed, even though he is now stronger and has more abilities than before.

The Story: Since Rivian’s were struck by a terrible plague, they don’t have enough females to continue their race and had been searching throughout the universe for compatible races. When they found Earth and December fell in love with King Ja’rynn, Drax’ryl had come to earth with the former Prince. They set up the Rivian-Earthling Attachmnet Program which offered high compensation for females to see if they matched with a Rivian Male. January didn’t sign up because she was afraid a match wouldn’t be found for her. Though thousands of women did sign up.

I liked the storylines in this book and loved the fact that January was into robotics, though some of the science fiction was far to fictional for my liking. For instance, the fact that they could travel between Rivia and Earth in less than a day. It would take longer by plane to go places on earth than it took them to travel to Earth from Rivia to pick up January for the bonding festivities. I can’t imagine that even with wormhole travel and hyper speed that a spaceship could move that far that fast, and there was no mention of stargates or anything of that nature.

It is also funny in science fiction how many things can be explained away by the use of nanotechnology. In this book, a nanite patch is used for a translator. I did like the fact that their clothes were made of some kind of temperature controlling technology so you would never be too warm or too cold. Though this isn’t part of the science, there was the fact that January’s best friend just happened to be named December? Unless their mothers were also best friends, that seems mighty coincidental. I actually rolled my eyes more than once while reading this, like when Drax’ryl had to give January a piggyback ride down a mountain while hiking and she ended up having the big ‘O’ the whole time.

“Why are you straddling my master’s exterior reproductive organs, human female?” the robot asked, tilting its head to the side. It continued, “And Master, why are your hands fondling her lactation ports?”

A Piece of His Heart

January is a human with social anxiety that travels to an alien planet to participate in her friend’s bonding ceremony. She is attracted to the head of security who happens to be part cyborg but doesn’t think he even notices her. But the alien cyborg is all too aware of her and the two fall hard and fast for each other. Through a series of adventures they finally get their HEA. I liked how the author handled January’s panic attacks with sensitivity and how Draax’l was so understanding and perceptive. I really enjoyed reading about this couple.

An Alien Cyborg for January

Book two of this series and I'm very much enjoying the world and the characters. The MFC is a robotics expert and the MMC is a cyborg,

“The robotic components of his body had saved his life and now he was part alien, part machine. January thought he was the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen.”

They take awhile to communicate how they feel for each other but they get there in the end. I liked that the MFC has some issues around needing to limit the amount of people she's around and he respects that.

loved it!

I was so excited to read about January and Drax’ryl’s story and it did not disappoint at all! My favorite trope is when the MMC doesn’t feel worthy of love and Drax’yle is still coming to terms with the fact he is half cyborg. The added adventure was super fun. I love a good seat gripping space drama! All in all I really loved this book and lol foreword to the next one.

Silly.

And a lot of the alien speech, mannerisms, descriptions were human. FMC was a bit annoying & she acted so stupidly (I hate it when they do that) when she goes off by herself on a strange planet early in the morning knowing there are aliens out there who would love nothing more than to sell her to the highest bidder.

Better than the first

I found the writing style of this book much improved from the first book in the series. The flow was natural and the story was easy and enjoyable to read. My only critique would be the love scenes. They're few and far between and not really as detailed as they could be. You get excited for one to start but then it's over so soon.

An Alien Cyborg for January

January doesn't do well with crowds, she is more of a loner but with Drax'ryl she is comfortable. What they have is complicated because neither one feels worthy of the other. What will happen?

Andi

Loved, loved the characters in this book. The story was better than I expected, but the secondary characters made this one unforgettable. I'm looking forward to Man's story, but you know who needs a woman to keep him on his toes.
