Devil Worship: A Fan's Voyage With the 2008/2009 Manchester United Red Devils

Rate this book
There are many sports played across the world, but only one truly captivates the global community. Some call it soccer and some call it football, but everyone embraces the majesty and splendor that the sport offers to all of its fans. The world's most recognizable soccer club is England's Manchester United, a team that means so much to so many in all corners of the globe. Devil A Fan's Voyage with the 2008/2009 Manchester United Red Devils describes one American's semi-autobiographical obsession with the team that has shaped so much of his life's positive (and sometimes negative) experiences. Readers from America to Australia will appreciate the universal theme of uncontrollable fandom detailed so eloquently by Mr. Leyland. Devil A Fan's Voyage with the 2008/2009 Manchester United Red Devils is a must-read for anybody who cherishes the world's most popular sport above all others.

Author, Kevin Leyland, is a walking encyclopedia who knows more sports trivia than any expert I have ever come across. The fact that he chose to write about his own fandom and passion is an example of nonfiction with heart. As stated in the title, it is his own personal journey as a fan of one of the world's most recognizable teams, certainly the world's most recognizable sport. The autobiographical references made by the author make the book personal, and remind the reader of how far we are willing to go for something we truly love! If you've ever been passionate about something and willing to blend it into your life, you'll be able to relate to this author's experience.

I wound up giving the book to my son, the soccer aficionado! He loves the game. He's been to Manchester. I have not.
