One look at this bartender, and everyone gets thirsty...

With thirteen years separating them, Amber has always known that Rio is off limits. Not only does her father forbid such a relationship, but Rio himself seems intent on keeping her at arm's length. If only that was enough to quench her desire for the handsome older man.

Hired for his good looks, charismatic personality, and bartending skills, Rio makes Amber's father a lot of money by drawing women into the establishment. Watching the boss's daughter grow from an enchanting imp into a beautiful woman was never in the job description, but as Amber approaches her eighteenth birthday, Rio can't ignore her any longer. Will a promise and a duty force this drink-slinging Daddy to wonder forever what coulda been, or will he find a way to serve up a happy ending for them both?

For some, there is a second chance at having Mr. Right. Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda explores a world of connections that can't exist... until they do. Forbidden love abounds when these Daddy Doms refuse to live with regret and claim the women who own their hearts.

Amber, Maisie, Harper, Colt and Beau have been high school friend and even longer. When graduation fast approaches, everyone is making plans for the future. Amber wants to be a nurse. There is one problem, Rio. He works for her Dad’s bar, Murphy’s and he is off limits. But she is eighteen now and wants to have a relationship with him but what about school? Rio knows Amber is off limits. He kept his distance but now that she is eighteen and heading off to school for nursing, he may never get a chance to be with her again. Does he risk it all?

We learn about each in this book as well as the path they took. It’s the reunion that brings them all back together and the paths finally start taking shape. Fast forward. Getting older and feelings are still there. We learn about each path the friends have taken. Some have moved on but for the most part, love never dies. I do love that Rio was always waiting for Amber. He let her live and learn. It’s the coming together that took a great deal of time. A few surprises and a lead into the next book, Shoulda. I really don’t like Miranda. She is a big pain but we need that little push to make us turn our heads. This one is fun. I love learning about Rio. He isn’t what I thought or what Amber thought either. I have to say, I wanted them to come together sooner but I understood why. I can’t wait for “Shoulda.”

As much as I wanted to really like this story I just couldn't. It started off twenty years ago with five friends. Five characters being introduced within the first chapter confused me until I was able to separate each one's backstory. It then moves to the present.

The Daddy kink doesn't bother me too much, but when it involves the woman acting the "Little Girl", childlike, playing with toys and having childlike furniture I'm getting major ick and creeped out vibes. It doesn't sit right with me. I get the dom/sub thing but not this far.
Wanting to take care of a woman is one thing, but treating them as a minor is weird.

“You were twenty-five when I was twelve. Why did you stick around at the bar?” “You were a phenomenal kid. I knew you’d be a remarkable woman. I wanted to watch you grow up.”

Sorry, but that exchange between Rio and Amber is kind of creepy to me.

I'm more interested in Colt and Harper's story.

Wow! This new series is something totally different from the other books that Pepper North has written. This book introduces the main characters and you get a feel for the friends and what they are doing in their lives and then Rio, who is a Daddy Dom, is the love interest of Amber. Twenty years pass and they are all reunited again, Amber and Rio finally get together and now they need to learn about each other. The story ends at the friends twentieth high school reunion. I am looking forward to reading the next story.

I was given a copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.

Amber turns 18 and has plans to seduce Rio but he leaves that night, knowing he may never see her again but wanting her to grow up more and have opportunities that being with him won't happen. Amber goes to nursing school and travels. She and her friends all come back for their 20th reunion. Rio is back now also. Will they pick up where she wanted to go 20 years earlier?

I liked this story. I liked how Rio found a book that Amber carried about Littles and Daddies. I also liked how all her friends had read it and commented on it. This sets up the relationships within the circle of friends although the women do not seem as aware of the dynamics of the group as the guys do. I enjoyed watching Rio teach Amber more about Littles and Daddies as she struggled with the concept because of being on her own for 20 years. They both question the other as they set up rules and boundaries.

I look forward to the rest of the series since this book has set those relationships up. I want to see how they work everything out.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This is a new series by this author, but wow, it's different than her usual fare, although it has the impeccable writing we are used to. Although a series about a group of friends, this book is about Amber and Rio. The trope here is age gap, but although these two knew each other for years they don't get together until Amber returns home for her 20 year reunion. How they move from where they were then to now is a delight to read as well as all the little surprises we receive along the way (both from the MCs as well as the secondary characters). I am looking forward to reading all these books in the series.

I received a copy of the book from the authors and I'm voluntarily leaving this honest, unbiased review.

This book was really so much fun, and I really enjoyed it. As this is the first book in this new series, some time is spent laying the groundwork and introducing the characters that it will be focused on. So don't expect to jump right into the romance. Trust me though, this wait is well worth it because I think it adds a lot of depth to everything. Then we settle into Amber and Rio's story which is a sweet, angsty, steamy and heart string tugging age gap romance. I loved these two so much. Their chemistry was undeniable, and I felt they were super swoon worthy. Of my own accord I am posting candid review.

Right up front I have to say I love these characters! The friendship between the six is wonderful. Amber and Rio work, their relationship is sweet with a nice bit of heat. I enjoyed the storyline and the world building is spot on. It's slightly different from other Pepper North books, not less not more, just different. It felt more mature? I don't exactly know how to explain it. I loved it just as much as, say, her Little Cakes series. I've come to realize if it has Pepper North on the cover it is well worth reading. 1-click all the way.

This was a short, sweet read that I "Coulda" spent much more time with!

Perhaps it is just the beginning, as Amber has several friends who piqued my interest as much as Rio and Amber!

I can tell you, I was none too pleased with Amber's dad.

The fact that it is now twenty years after high school graduation and they're just now finding their significant other...hard to believe, but made the story interesting.

Hopefully we get more soon. I think we will!

Absolutely loved this book. Not quite Ms. North’s usual story line but what a beautiful read. Amber and Rio have know each other forever. He barkeeps at her father’s place. With an 18 year age difference Rio knows he has to be patient and let her bloom into the woman she’s meant to be. How they both grown until it’s time to move forward together makes for a great read!

I'll admit, the first part of the book left me confused about the characters but that quickly disappeared when I started reading the story! This isn't her usual style of stories but I loved it so much. Rio thinks he's too old for Amber, even though he's attracted to her, so he leaves in order to let her live her life. Now she's back home and they rediscover each other. Will the second time around be what they want? What a wonderful and refreshing story. Now I need the next book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are so interesting, with their unique personalities and absolutely beautiful friendship! The storyline is also great, spanning many years! I really felt as if I was a part of their group!

Unlikely best friends, from the age of eight or nine, Colt, Harper, Maisie, Beau and Amber have since gone their separate ways but remain best friends who talk to each other regularly. Life meant they were unable to attend their five, ten and fifteen year reunions so they each made a promise to go to the twentieth!

This group are just fab! They are the epitome of friendship, in my opinion. Supportive and understanding, of each other, they have formed a family of choice.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

A different type of book for this author. But oh so good. I just loved these characters and couldn't wait for them to get a happy ending. Both characters waited a long time to find each other again and once they did the chemistry exploded. Can't wait to read the next one.

This is a new direction the author is taking. The five meeting as children and then staying friends all through high school, even though they would have been in different cliques, was wonderful. This story deals with Amber and Rio. Amber has been in love with Rio since she was young. Rio waits for her to grow up, but decides that she needs to experience life first. When they get back together, it is exactly what they both want.

I loved this story and I'm looking forward to the next books. I received an advance copy and this is my honest review.

I was excited to start this trilogy series by Pepper North. This a new to me author which I am always excited to find. The story itself was good. It opens up introducing all of the characters in the trilogy, and lets you create this idea of how things might happen.

This is a DD/LG romance and they live almost fully in the lifestyle, but there are still some separations. I enjoyed Rio and Amber, but there was something wrong with the story for me. I don’t know if it was the lack of details about their time apart or the way in which the story itself plays out. The editing of the story is strong, but the rest misses the mark. The basis of this story is that these two care about each other, and Rio leaves because he feels like Amber isn’t ready for him. But it was as though, it was almost a fluke that they both end up back in the same town 20 years later.

If he claimed to care about her as much as he did, why wouldn’t he had made an effort to get back to her hometown sooner. Why did seem as though an afterthought. I didn’t believe the love that he supposedly had for her. That being said, the story once they come together is well done. But this story I could take it or leave it.

Youngsters that all grew up together, all know each other dreams and secrets facetiming over 20 years

Rio had worked at Amber’s fathers bar since she was twelve and he had watch her and her friends grow up, listened to their dreams and their troubles and then had been forced to leave just after Amber turned eighteen and had to make her major decision regarding her next step in life towards the nursing care she had always dreamed of being qualified to do

Her school examination results had been high enough that she had been offered a place at the dreamed of medical school where she was also to be given one of the few scholarship places which would help majorly with both education and living costs and it was at the facility she had always dreamed of.

Amber had been heartbroken when Rio had left and had proceeded to follow her bright career all around the US and Alaska and she had exceeded all expectation and had never forgotten the first man she loved Rio, she never stopped looking for him in crowds hoping to see him again.

After twenty years the group finally all get together for their classes reunion, they all religiously stayed in touch once a month via Facetime and now they are all coming back to their home, their high school and families and memories.

Harper never left, she had done exactly as she had wanted which was to care for the pre-schoolers like a “Second Mother” at the only free Kindergarten in the town and she continued to love her job, the children in her care and they in turn returned her ceaseless kindness and love as well.

Colt had surprised everyone by taking his singing professional and had become well known in the country singing world, he had sold singles and albums and had his own band and backing group and was always popular in Texas and Nashville and he loved his life but was now looking to make a dramatic change, one that he was keeping very close to his heart until the time was right.

Maisie who was so loved by her group had been a success in her science and mathematic mind and had joined a renowned Think Tank responsible for Medical and Scientific breakthroughs that saved and improved lives worldwide. She was happy to be back with the group of friends but would never return to her home town to live, always considered to be from the wrong side of the tracks, she had been a genius that had helped the others in science and maths and she continued to give to the world, developing drugs and other medical breakthroughs she was truly wonderful and all of her friends were proud to call her family.

Beau had continued with his political ideals and he had remained true to his ideals and was now standing for election and things were going well. He had not forgotten his roots and he had recently been trying to bring in a free screen for cancer for those below a certain wage, his group of friends were all extremely proud and had avidly followed his career path and waited for the election results with bated breath.

He had even implied that if possible should he actually be voted in as a Politician if it might be possible to rent Maisie’s spare room as she was currently living close to Washington DC for the Think Tank she was working alongside. Possibly there was a little more happening here than any of the group initially thought, they would no doubt wheedle their way to the truth “come hell or high water”.

When the group had all arrived in the little town together some to stay with family and friends they had not seen for some time. Amber had been met by her friend Harper who had informed her that her parents were on holiday, a cruise which was something they ha never done as her father ran his bar.

Imagine her surprise when she walks into the bar and behind is she sees the familiar physique of Rio mixing up cocktails, a larger than life smile on his face and his trademark leap over the bar as attention grabbing as it had been the las time she saw it twenty years ago.

She had felt as though all her Christmas’s and Birthday’s had come at that precise moment and then he looked her in the eye and called her “Little Girl” and she knew she was finally home, the Daddy she has always loved had missed her as deeply and had come home to claim her and unbelievably her father had sold him his bar.

This is a truly wonderful read it has everything you could possibly wish for in a book by Pepper North, I cannot wait to read the future book in this series…..

I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Now let me preface with, I really wasn't sure about this one at the start. It begins 20 years ago - with a group of high school friends, all very different who've carved their own path through school away from the accepted cliques and hierachy and Coulda features a 17 year old girl obsessing over a mid to late 20's barman, as she pines and plots her perfect 18th birthday celebration in his arms and bed. An that same barman, although keeping this distance - for now; equally plans to make her his as soon as possible. Thats where I had pause...

HOWEVER - The story then moves forwards to the groups 20 year high school reunion and finally the barman and the Little Girl he was obsessed with so long ago, walks back into his life and there is no way he's letter her leave again. THIS I LOVE!

I love their story as adults. I love the attraction, I love this Daddy and his Little Girl and I love that they know immediately that they were meant for each other so long ago and even more so now. This story ended up being really great and I'm so glad I didn't allow myself to be diverted or put off by my qualms at the start and their history.

I'm telling you though, I'm dying to know what ever became of Limey... Read COULDA if you want to know what I mean.

Twenty years to be together.

Amber, Maisie, Harper, Cole, and Beau have been friends since third grade. They have been there for each other all the way through high school. After graduation, they all promised to be friends forever. They all call each other every six months.
Amber has always had a crush on Rio, the bartender at her father's bar. The problem is that he is twelve years older than her. Her father threatened him that he would fire him if he touched his daughter. So he left her a graduation gift and left town.
Amber went to North Carolina for college to become a nurse.
Amber did five years in Alaska, so she wouldn't be back to attend their 5th class reunion.
This goes on for twenty years. They all finally make arrangements to come home for their twentieth class reunion.
It was just like old times. Everyone was happy to be together.
They all meet at Murphy's, her father's bar. She was surprised to see Rio was back. The attraction was felt by both of them.
Rio wanted to be Amber's Daddy and take care of her. He waited all this time.
It takes a little convincing to make her see that he is dedicated to showing her how a Daddy takes care of his little girl.
Another great story of an older man taking care of his little. Great story by Pepper North

Amber is growing up and noticing things she probably shouldn’t. Rio is a man who’s known Amber for a while. Our story starts with Amber and her close circle of friends. She’s a young woman with a crush. But as you come into adulthood, crushes can sometimes disappear and reappear years later.

This was my first book by this author, even though I’ve been aware of her for a while now. Amber and Rio’s story covers quite a few years, but the author doesn’t create chapters that seem to go on forever. There were gaps but nothing felt like something was missing. We get to catch up with Amber and her friends, but they are just teasers that leave you wanting more.

If you follow this series, you will get to catch up with some of them. Amber and Rio’s story takes on the daddy/little trope. I didn’t find that our author wrote anything that made me feel uncomfortable with their adult relationship. I surprised myself how caught up in the story I was that I felt let down when I got to the end. Was left wanting more.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Mildly okay- a midlife book.

I consider this story a midlife book. Rio and Amber had whole separate lives that neither knew about each other before they finally got TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME! Amber went off to college at 18 years old as did her friends to their lives. She and her friends kept in touch over the years but didn't get back together until 20 years later! That makes Amber 38 years old, and Rio was 13 years older than her so that makes him 51 when they see each other again. I guess he kept in shape and was quite the silver fox, but he had a whole secret life that Amber never knew about. I can't help but think that their attraction wasn't that strong to let so much time elapse to finally get together. And the friends too! They all waited until they were almost 40 yo to start their lives together? Nope. What about new love and starting families? They all seem pretty self-centered to me. And the whole DD/lg thing is ok if you can forget about their ages I guess. Just nope. Disappointed.

definite grab to read

First of a new series. A great story of believing that love of a Daddy (DDlg) stands the test of time.
What I loved about it: the interaction between the main characters. Rio, older than by 10+ years to Amber put her first and let her try her wings.
-Limey the stuffie
-Amber’s playroom sounds amazing. (Would love if authors started having an art insert of these rooms)
-The secondary characters. Want more of the Murphys definitely. Love to hate Miranda who is going to have a comeuppance, I hope. Maybe the Littles can get revenge? 😀

What I found confusing: to be honest the beginning of getting to know the group of friends who hope to find their Daddies and Littles. But is extremely important to the rest of the series.

Love this is about older characters finding a second chance, as the title indicates. Pepper North has started a trend with the age group as central characters in a few of her series and I applaud.

The couple: Rio and Amber

Romance trope: DD/lg; second chance
Series: A Second Chance for Mr. Right
Length: 185 pages

Plot: Amber met Rio before she graduated from high school when he was working in her dad's bar. He was over a decade older than her, and even though she thought they could get together when she turned eighteen, he took off instead. Twenty years later, she's back and so is he, and he's determined to make it work this time around.

Commentary: I was not expecting the separation to last so long! However, it did put them in a position where it was the final scene - they were ready for the 4rest of their lives. I could sympathize with Amber getting a little upset thinking about whether Rio had had a lg in the past, but he was right in shutting that down (since she wasn't celibate either - I mean, 20 years!). I understood mostly because I think she was still hurt from him leaving so suddenly - it felt like he was leaving her when that wasn't quite it. He - again - was right in letting her have that time to lie her life without him holding her back. It was funny that he was actually a banker. Anyways. I liked this one, actually a little more than most from this author and I would read more in the series when they come out.

Next book in the series: Woulda: A Second Chance For Mr. Right

𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗𝗔 is the first book in a new series by one of my favourite DD/LG romance writers and it starts us off with a bang!

As with all first in series books, we get a lot of background information that lays the groundwork for the current read and books to come. Amber, Maisie, Harper, Colt and Beau are best friends. Their relationship is incredible and sets the perfect tone for the series. 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗𝗔 Is Amber’s forbidden, age gap love story. Although young, Amber knows what she wants. And she wants is Rio. Rio is much older and her father’s employee. He is crazy about her but knows that she is way too young for him right now. Years later and he comes back and lays claim to the woman he loves.

Their story was sweet and sexy and left me with a smile on my face. I’m giving 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗𝗔 the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR & Enjoy!

Sensational! Fantastic start to the series.

I absolutely love the close-knit bonds that Amber and her friends share. Since the third grade they have been inseparable, forging bonds that defy outside influences.

The blurb only gives a hint to the experiences that are waiting for you within these magical pages.

Fast forward several years, age differences become less of a factor when Amber once again meets Rio, discovering their mutual attraction is still alive. The pace is fast, but after a twenty year absence, Rio wasn't about to waste any more time. I like how he was rock solid sure of his feelings towards Amber, and was not going to allow anything on anyone to dissuade him, including Amber herself.

The only flaw that I could find with this storyline was that the book ended. I eagerly await Shoulda.

This is my first book from Pepper North, so I wasn't sure what exactly to expect.

We meet Amber, Beau, Harper, Colt and Maisie as they are seated together in third grade. Despite having different backgrounds, they quickly became lifelong friends. We skip ahead to their senior year, where we meet Rio, a thirty-something who bartends at Amber's dad's bar. He is attractive and Amber has tried to flirt with him, when he disappears shortly after her eighteenth birthday.

I liked the time travel element of the story, visiting the characters every few years, until their return to their hometown twenty years later.

Overall, I enjoyed the storyline, but the D/L was not really for me.

3.5 (rounded to 4) out of 5 stars.

I received a free ARC from the author and Elle Woods PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Coulda is the first book in this trilogy and what a start. I love all the characters and can't wait to hear everyone's story. First we meet the friends who started their friendship in the third grade and remained best friends through high school, there is Maisie, Amber, Harper, Beau and Colt. First we start wit Amber's story, she has had a mad crush on Rio but her father has already warned both of them to stay away from each other or Rio would lose his job. Amber thought that when she turned eighteen that everything would work itself out and they could be together but fate separates them following graduation. Come find out what fate has in store for this couple and join all of us as we go on to see what happens with the other four friends and where life takes them. Pepper North NEVER disappoints me when she puts so much into each of her books. She is truly an amazing author.
