Tentacular Tales #3

When a Man Loves an Alien

Rate this book
A grumpy-sexy alien and his (mostly) human mate are just trying to get married for goodness sake! But the road to matrimony is riddled with obstacles that could prove deadly…

RIVER

Being engaged to my adorable alien boo is a dream come true. Too bad there’s a target painted on my back. Come on universe, quit messing with true love! For reals. Kai and I need to plan our wedding—which is going to be hella quirky and fun, because I say so.

Cue Shilgar the Deadly, who’s screwing up everything—what with trying to kill me and all. My life is becoming even more unbelievable than my fictional characters, Lord Vardox and Captain Starblade.

There’s no way I’m not walking down the aisle with Kai, so help me! I fully intend to ‘get me to the church’—I mean Vegas wedding chapel—on time. This fool of an assassin thinks he can mess with my dreams of wedded bliss? I don’t think so. He’s about to learn he’s met his match in River Sullivan!

KAI

My relationship with River is solid and wedding bells are in the air. Unfortunately, other parts of my life are… less stable. Between juggling a highly inconvenient Mating Fever that can strike at any time, and dealing with an investigator from Intergalactic Alliance Headquarters, I’m finding it hard to hold onto my usual equilibrium.

When Shilgar the Deadly finally shows up on Earth, gunning for River, the control I cling to is stretched razor thin. I’m desperate to do whatever I can to keep my mate safe—but I’m not sure if I can.

Yet things aren’t all that they seem. New secrets come to light and we’re all left reeling. Apparently, that famous Earthling playwright was correct when he wrote, “the course of true love never did run smooth…”

When a Man Loves an Alien (Tentacular Tales #3) is a (100k words) M/M sci-fi rom com and the third book in the series. It should be read in chronological order. This installment features an assassin who just won’t quit, little old ladies at slot machines who should NOT be messed with, a zipline action-hero moment, shocking secrets and revelations, a death-defying climax, and just maybe… a zany Vegas wedding? This book has an HFN ending and no cheating. Never fear—there is a guaranteed HEA by the end of the series!

THAT PLOT TWIST! 😭😭🩷 Omg!

This series is such a blast. One installment at a time. So so good.

And I must say, I didn’t get it at the beginning but The Tentacular Tales of Captain Starblade really have grown on me over time. That too, is getting better and better. I have also fallen deeper and deeper in love with all these characters that make team ANAL. ♡

Some gems in this installment:

☆ River discovers his super power
☆ the Lightsaber Dong of Doom
☆ Operation DICKBAG
(a.k.a Down to Incapacitate, Capture, or Kill Bitch-ass Assassin Goons)
☆ Mal moving in with Benji
☆ Wilder confessing about his past actions
☆ the mysterious life savior
☆ pajama party wedding ceremony in onesies
☆ Grandma Genaro showing up

And last but not least: Greg B’s performance on this was once again unmatchingly awesome!!

I can’t wait for the next book to see what The Sanctioning Ceremony is all about!!! Please let the audio come fast after the book’s release!!

Once you go tentacle, you never go back!

I know it has been said before, but it needs to be repeated: the audiobook to this is the stuff legends are made of. Greg Boudreaux took an already good book and elevated it to another level. Seriously. Get the audio and try switching between reading and listening, then you can fully appreciate what Greg adds to it.

Why switch to reading then, you ask? Because, as much as I loved this one, some things just got a bit long ish and reading is a lot faster. Not that I skimmed, but after 2 books about the same couple (River-the-almost-human and Kai-with-the-tentacles) I KNOW how much they’re in love, and how adorable they think their significant other is, and that they want to get frisky all the time.

Another thing that overwhelmed me a bit while reading/listening: there are SO MANY CHARACTERS by now. So many different aliens, friends, soon-to-be-friends and mere acquaintances, that it’s sometimes hard to keep track. And with each book, we get more, because nobody ever leaves River’s inner circle.

But enough whining- because the book itself is good, as expected. It’s like the entire cast (and screenwriters) of Men in Black have consumed too many magic mushrooms (or Benji’s magic brownies).

It’s crazy, absurd, with so many memorable scenes that I had to put the book down occasionally because the images I had in my head where so vivid and bright that I needed a bit of downtime to fully savour them (I mean… come on… the alien granny at the slot machine with the pink dildo from Etsy??? I really want to be in this authors head, no idea how she comes up with stuff like that 😂).

As for the plot: it’s basically River and Kai (and all the rest) trying to catch Shilgar the Deadly, who’s come to earth to kill River. And a very surprising plot twist toward the end that I absolutely DIDN’T see coming 😳

4.5 stars rounded up because of Greg B. Go read it, and start with book 1.

So freaking fun! And cute! I love this series. These books always put a smile on my face. River is just such a little spitfire. And serious Kai just gets all smoopy for him regardless of what crazy thing River is doing.

All the side characters are just as likable. I mean, I am DYING for Mal and Benji's story. And Zamir and Wilder. And of course Evan and Zion. And you know what I'm now even dying for Aiden and the sweet pink guy whose name starts with O. (His name is way too hard for me to spell right from memory.)

I hope this series continues for a long while because I'd seriously read it forever. It's like Xanax as a book. My mood is instantly lifted. And the tentacles are hot AF too ;)

I am so glad I waited, until news of book 4. Before reading this installment of Tentacular Tales. I mean each book opened up a view of extraterrestrials on Earth. While leaving bed crumbs.

Mentioning there are beings that have successfully breed with other species. Then oh boys tentacles collecting his spunck into his pouch. That nurse's over eagerness when he was in heat. The traditionalist killing all that intermingle DNA. The usual threat if invasion. Which is always the first concern with universal neighbors.

So much fun!

These books are just plain fun. In this episode, there is more of the same as in the previous ones. There's action, humor, tentacles, romance, and a lot of OTT nonsense.

River and Kai are gearing up for their wedding and Sanctioning Ceremony while River is being hunted down by an intergalactic assassin. Madness and mayhem ensue, there are plot twists, secrets revealed, there are magic brownies, Elvis impersonators, and of course, more of Starblade and Vardox.

I'll admit the books are a bit long, a bit repetitive, and at times eye-roll inducing, but they've never let me down so far and I am all in for the next one!

This series continues to be a perfect blend of laughs, romance, and action. Between the amazing characters, great dialogue, and extra surprises, the author keeps you on your toes…and may even cause you to burst out with a giggle-snort here and there. Plus sci-fi fans will appreciate the references to shows and movies in the genre that are liberally sprinkled throughout the story.

River and Kai are very much entrenched in their adorable relationship, a classic grumpy/sunshine duo. They’re swiftly moving forward, and the mating fever Kai is experiencing is certainly keeping things hot and sexy between them. Kai continues to become more demonstrative when around others, particularly when River has just been saved from danger.

And danger is definitely plaguing poor River with an assassin after him. Thankfully he has a lot of people on his side, from his Uncle Benji, friends, coworkers, and adoring fans—all willing to keep him safe and help root out Shilgar the Deadly before they can complete their assignment of offing River. This makes for some interesting scenes and action.

There were a few spots here and there where thing may have gone a little over the top, but then again we are talking about multiple alien species living on Earth, hidden from humans, so that’s not too much of a stretch. The author also threw in a couple of unexpected twists as things were running towards a dramatic peak that I did not see coming, but will make for some interesting points in the continuing storyline of the series.

I’m so glad there’s more to come, because I’ve been loving it so far. When a Man Loves an Alien was a 4.5-star read for me, and I just can’t get enough of these characters—especially River with his awesome stream-of-consciousness rambles and popular sci-fi references (those do my inner sci-fi nerd good). Be sure to read this series in order or you’ll likely be lost, but don’t worry—it’s a fantastic ride! Recommended for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content…including tentacles!

I started laughing on the first page with the mention of the Tentacular Tales merch t-shirts and their slogans. I continued laughing at the pet names River kept coming up with for Kai. I was in hysterics at the end with their quirky wedding. So in other words, I couldn’t stop laughing throughout the entire book.

Yes, there are serious moments that our serious/grumpy Kai and the ever excitable hilarious River must face together. Including the very important Sanctioning Ceremony that River knows nothing about and there’s a new threat looming that changes everything, and to top it all off a very unexpected plot twist!

I was fully engaged from the get go and finished this in one sitting. There’s plenty of tentacle steamy times, pop culture references galore, some drama/action balanced nicely with some romance and plenty of side character surprises to keep things interesting. This entire serious is absolutely brilliant and I look forward to more.

Dark matter and damn you Chloe....... we need to wait for the next book!? Why?

Any wonder we love River.... hes gotten sassier and bossier. I love his new skills and want to gush so hard about this book, but Im so afraid of spoilers..... oh and theres plenty to spoil!!!!!!
Kai knows theres an assassin after his man, and hes man enough to admit to being insecure, and worried that he may not be enough to save him.

We meet new family members, find interesting etsy buys, find new loved up couples..... damn how can this story keep getting better and funnier.
And we still get our Starblade and Vardock kicks.....

Poor Kai and River and just trying to get married for crying out loud. Kinda hard to do when a notorious intergalactic hitman is after you.

As always this was a hilarious romp. I thoroughly enjoy this series. My favorite quotes:

"... Project ORAL..." Kai groans. I give Tom two thumbs up. "Good idea. I'm totally in favor of supporting Operation Rehoming Aliens Lovingly."

And from River's fan mail. I love how Kai edits River's fan mail:

"Hello boy, I've been reading Tentacular Tales for a while now and I get the impression you're a very naughty REDACTED who needs a dominant Daddy to teach him how to behave - and how to REDACTED my REDACTED."

This series is just non-stop, all round feel good fun. It’s the perfect escape from reality.

Kai and River are still going strong despite there being a lot of external drama in their lives.

The final third of this book was just wow! Action packed and major secrets revealed. I loved it! I am excited to see where the story continues to lead. The whole supporting cast of friends and family are hilarious and I love that they so easily accept River’s eccentricities and hardly bat an eye at them.

Not a standalone, this is part of an ongoing series with an existing couple and mystery. There are tons of laughs, a stoner uncle, sci-fi pop culture jokes and some steamy tentacle smexy times. There are soooo many more side stories that I hope Archer will eventually write because I am heavily invested in seeing them get their HEAs just as much as I am for Kai and River. Bring on the tentacles and the Sanctioning Ceremony!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I received an ARC of this book, with conditions. This is my review.

My personal opinions aside, the third book in the series was full of the same interesting and exciting little details that the first two possessed. It had a lot of heart, a lot of humour, and—of course—a lot of tentacle action. It was fairly fast-paced, and definitely kept the twists and turns coming. There’s a lot of recapping, so you don’t really need to reread the other books if your retention isn’t great. A lot happens throughout the book to keep you entertained and excited to keep reading. I cannot use my typical format for reviewing, so I cannot speak on the mechanics and the likes. Also, don’t worry! There are enough Starblade and Vardox tidbits to keep you happy with the story within the story. Definitely expect the unexpected, and to be in awe of Benji and his insane (and seemingly innate) power of being able to wrap everyone around his little finger by existing.

I’m very grateful for the opportunity to participate in the ARC group for this book. Many thanks to the author and their team.

I have highly enjoyed each book in this series and I always look forward to the next book and any bonus content available.

The story continues from the previous book with the assassin on planet, wedding plans, family, action, adventure, tentacles, and massive amounts of charm, love and humor. also, aliens, more and more aliensAll of these books are laugh out loud funny.

At the start of the first book Kai comes off gruff and grouchy and waaaay too serious. He mellows through that book, the 2nd book and now with this book he remains serious but is rather adorable and loving with hints of snark and a dry sense of humor. River is basically essentially the same Over the top ball of excitement and energy but he has matured by this point in the series, even though it has only been a couple months. His love and caring for Kai has evolved from the Lust/Love in the 1st book to an honest true love by the opening pages of this book. I can't wait to see where this story goes and hope for further stories in this world and bonus content with other characters, plus, I think a lot of people want more fully filled out stories of "The Tentacular Tales of Captain Starblade"

I've now read the ebook and have listened to the audiobook. Wow! Both versions are great, but Greg Boudreaux does an incredible job with voicing this series. I have enjoyed the other 2 audiobooks in the series (as well as the ebooks) but I think this audiobook is the best. There is so much that happens and there are new aliens that require voices and the narration is amazing. This series has made Greg Boudreaux a go to narrator for me. I know anything he narrates will be an amazing listen.

This book had many side plots that will bleed over into book 4. I wished I read the book premises closer because I thought book 3 was the final book AND now I’ll have to wait for book 4 for forever to come out *face palm ✋🏻

Parts of the plot got especially annoying because it was TEASED so often. I’m like at this point I do not care what it is 🤪River said…
“SUPER nervous about the Sanctioning Ceremony. No one will give me specific details. Even key parts of your email were redacted! What do I do?” 🙄🙄🙄

The villains were even meh. BUT one death was pretty spectacular! The reveal of something was also not as big of a gasp 😮 moment for me either.

I do like River and Kai but a lot was story was repeated and felt like filler AND the fact you couldn’t wrap up the story arc in 300k+ pages is kinda ridiculous.

Side plots that went no where… Mal/Benji, Evan/Zion and many more. I guess all of them will get their 4 book series as well.

Eight Elvises, Five Tentacles and a Wedding

When a Man Loves an Alien

Tentacular Tales #3

Chloe Archer

Release date: 26th May 2023

Hilarious from the start, 'When a Man Loves an Alien', follows the story of alien Kai and his mate River.

After events in book two, Kai has entered Mating Fever -  Tentaculum Calefaction - and is the first male to do so in two hundred years.

At the same time, he is under investigation with Alliance Internal Affairs for using technology not previously approved.

River is part human part Quintharian - only just discovering this - and also a royal descendant.

His alien fiance Kai, is an Iyaran, and together they need to plan their wedding and defeat the bad guy. Unfortunately that person is Shilgar the Deadly; out to assassinate River.

The Alliance outpost on Earth, is of course in Las Vegas. Where else would it be easiest to hide aliens in plain site?

There's even an Elvis convention with multihued aliens in full Elvis regalia.

This is my first time reading Chloe Archer and I haven't read the two preceding books, however, it was quite easy to get the back story and dive straight into book three very quickly.

Some of River's past is hi-lighted at an 'open mic' night at Nirblob's bar,  where he reads from his bestselling series:  Lord Vardox, The Tentacular Tales of Captain Starblade.

He writes what is essentially human fanfic, but the aliens love it and he's often surrounded by adoring fans wanting signatures.

His science fiction rom com stories have made him famous amongst the various alien population.

This novel is littered with pop culture references; like pon farr to explain Kai's heat, River's royal furry bodyguard Chewy, nods to Star Wars, Star Trek, Total Recall and so much more. There's even a reference to Ice Planet Barbarians - a well known book series by Ruby Dixon.

The burgeoning romance between Benji, River's uncle, and Mal, Kai's brother is also incredibly sweet.

I loved the 'epistolary' excerpts, including chapters from Lord Vardox, group chats, fan letters from the various aliens, and intergalactic rule books or laws. Not to mention  'A Guide to your Iyaran Mate: From Courtship to Tentacles'. Best of all, however, is the delightfully titled 'The Handbook for the Recently Earth-Relocated'.

These life snippets aid the narrative but are also immensely fun.

River's approach to life is exuberance, apart from when he's enduring self defence training with Zamir or his latest bodyguard Lu-Ren.

In fact he's delighted to be in charge of “Project ORAL. No, it's not what you think! River loves his acronyms no matter how risqué they sound.

However the thing that really made me happy, was the alien approach to gender which I saw as a metaphor for the LGBTQIA+ community.  Lu-Ren for instance, is essentially non binary. Within Kai, there's also a touch of body dysmorphia, as he worries how River truly feels about his extra appendages and his current mating. And this part here about the alien refugees rungs true, that they - "want the opportunity to be their true selves in a safe space." - I suspect this gels with the experiences of many within the LGBTQIA+ community.

The theme of immigration and prejudice towards immigrants is explored easily through the book and the literal alien metaphors.

There are some issues with words missing or word repetition and some telling rather than showing, however, on the whole this book is funny, irreverent, emotional, tentacularly sexy and sweet. With a couple of great hooks for the next book

Fans of Gini Koch, Valerie Valdes, Alice Winters and Jim Hines will enjoy it I think.

I know I'll certainly be checking out more of Archer's work.

Especially if "River" were to release a Lord Vardox novella as an extra special bonus.

More Spectacular Tentacular Tales! Amazing Story & Narration🎧

When a Man Loves an Alien
Tentacular Tales, Book 3
By: Chloe Archer
Narrated by: Greg Boudreaux

O.M.G., this book is absolutely amazing, and I loved everything about it, from Chloe Archer’s magnificent writing style and way with words to the fascinating and imaginative characters and storylines she created to the brilliant audiobook narration performed by the superbly talented Greg Boudreaux. This book is a continuation of River and Kai’s story and picks up after the second book, “Can’t Help Falling in Love with an Alien” ended, it is best to enjoy these books in order written to get the most out of the world building and the ongoing storylines. River’s true heritage has come out and, as they expected, he is now being targeted and there is a hired assassin after him, a ruthless one who is one of the best in the universe.  River being River is not phased by it and carries on as usual. Kai, on the other hand, is doing his best to track the assassin down. Besides that drama, there is so much more going on in their world and their relationship, and I loved how it all played out. This is one of the most entertaining books I’ve listened to and it plays out like a movie in my head because of the impressive descriptive details, also impressive are the witty dialogue, references to pop culture, songs, movies, and so forth. This is the type of book that puts a smile on your face and leaves it there the entire time. Besides all the hilarity, there are some great steamy times, too. Chloe Archer, you are the mastermind of these spectacular tentacular tales, a sci-fi RomCom like no other, and one that will stay with me for a very long time. Thanks for the laughs and this exceptional series, I can phrase it with a song, “Nobody Does ‘it’ Better” with ‘it’ being Aliens, because “Nobody Does Aliens Better” than Chloe Archer.

🎧📚🎧 And nobody does it better than Great Boudreaux!! His exceptional and “out of this world” performance continues as he brings these characters and story to life. He is a natural in every role he takes on, gives each a voice that is fitting, sounding believable and just as I picture the characters to sound. His character voices are amazing and have been consistent throughout the series and the quality of his audio is top-notch. He sets the perfect tone for the story, handles the witty humor and the back-and-forth dialogue with ease and lands t

Truly tentacular continuation of this warmhearted, sexy, tentacle-filled MM romance

River and Kai do it again! This continuation of Tentacular Tales should not be read alone, but the series deserves a read for anyone who enjoys aliens, true love to a sort of chosen fated-mates scenario, a lot of intriguing plot, high steam (tentacles!), wit, and hilarity and good will. Please read the sales copy for a plot summary.

Aliens exist on Earth, and River Sullivan is one effervescent, uncontainable bubble of joy and love in this latest installment of the series. His fiancé, Kai, delivers all the fated-mates joy as he experience the Iyraran version of a sort of mate-heat-uncontrollable instinct to protect and mate with his Person. River and Kai’s heated desire and Kai’s fabulous tentacles deliver the steam, and he and River are clearly made for each other. But beyond River’s own creative story telling—and Lord Vardox and Captain Starblade do have story cameos and fan ‘ship moments throughout!—there’s a real villain in the wings, gunning for River, who won’t stop until River is dead.

It might sound dire, but River’s joyous attitude and voice bring light to the danger, and Kai’s more stoic love for and support of his chosen mate create a thoroughly enjoyable and sexy ride. Secrets about River’s heritage and condition, Kai’s culture and unique physicality, and aliens in the universe continue to come to light, continuing threads set up from book 1, with more delightful twists and turns and fast-paced satisfaction as our motley crew of Alliance and family misfits gather to protect River and take down the supposedly unstoppable assassin who has River in his sites.

A delightful, hilarious, and tongue-in-cheek romp that delivers on all the promised action and romance. Secondary characters and threads support the main story and promise more delight to come.

HFN/HEA, alien (with tentacles!), fated-mates, hero-in-danger MM romance. No cheating or emotional cheating or any others. Highly recommended.

My thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for the ARC; this is my free and impartial opinion.

Book three continues where book two leaves off. As I have mentioned in previous reviews, this is an over-the-top science-fiction romantic comedy – these are silly, laugh-out-loud, high sugar brain candy with “feels” (River’s words) reads.

River and Kai are on high alert for an assassin who has been contracted by River’s mother’s home planet to eliminate River – deemed an undesirable half-human half-alien by his mother’s family. River and his Alliance teammates have decided to go on the offensive and bait the assassin into making a move. It goes massively awry, of course, and the group is on the defensive again. Meanwhile, there is a wedding to plan!

This installment brought little pops of surprises that better balanced out River’s sometimes overwhelming personality. I am totally not revealing any of those little gems but be prepared for more than a few happy “feels”.

My quibble with this book was the matchmaking and I admit this is totally my quirk. River – and to a lesser degree Ellie – try to pair up everyone and I found that to be more pushy than enjoyable. I like my romances to be organic between characters, with less “You’re PERFECT for each other!” while shoving two people into each other’s orbits and the subsequent “tell me EVERYTHING!” after they do connect. Yes, matchmaking was in the first two books as well, and it might have been a cumulative effect to hit my quibble radar.

All the awesome supporting characters are back, more new characters are introduced and there are a handful of surprise characters. But wait! There’s more! Yes! There will be a book four! Because the mysterious Sanctioning Ceremony has not happened yet!

Grab this series for that commute ride, vacation read, or end of the day pick-me-up. This is a no-angst, sci-fi rom-com, and perfect for unwinding.

OMG! This book is absolutely fantastic. I was never much into alien-human romance or tentacle kink...until Chloe Archer, and River and Kai. Now, I can't get enough. I loved this book, but it's so hard to write a review and tell you why I loved it without spoilers. I DON'T do spoilers. So, I'll just say River is still River, always energetic and optimistic, even with his alien family wanting to kill him, even with the galaxy's deadliest assassin after him. He is the effervescent King of pop-culture references. Star Wars, Star Trek, Terminator, Princess Bride, and Die Hard, just to name a few. And Kai is still Kai, trying to remain in control and protect his man, even in the face of mating fever, and said deadly assassin. There is so much else going on with side characters, side relationships, more love stories, betrayal, deadly dildos, more magic brownies, rivalries, desk chair chases, surprises, twists, and...ONESIES. There are so many twists, even the twists have twists and the surprises have surprises. Just get this book, just read it. You won't be able to stop reading until the end, and then you'll be begging the author for the next one. I, for one, am chomping at the bit to know more about the Sanctioning Ceremony, and I really hope the author gives us a book of the complete story of the Starblade tales when River's story is done. I love the snippets in the books and the fan emails, but I want more.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

It has been proven over, and over again, that when you read Chloe Archer's alien series you are bound to have a smile on your face! I can't even tell you how many times I giggled while reading this book.

How Chloe can manage to write such serious topics and death defying fight scenes, yet still have so much humor, I'm not sure how she does it. Honestly it surprised me every time!

Now, this is the third installment in River and Kai's spectacular and intense romance whirlwind. And wow, was it intense!! I think Chloe was holding out on all these monumental scenes so we would all be on the edge of our seats for this book!! Each book in this series has been well written, and jam packed full of intense action fighting scenes, tons of references to a variety of sci Fi movies, and of course, River's silliness. Oh! And his matchmaking skills are on point in this book! His true mission is helping other aliens find their true love... At least, that's what it feels like.

There was so much more depth and detail in this book, and we got to learn and discover soo much information in this installment! Honestly, this book really hyped Me up for the conclusion of Kai and River's romance. I'm unsure of what's going to happen or how they are going to take down the evil mastermind that is planning to destroy earth but I'm so eager to find out! You must read this story for yourself!! And no, it's not a standalone, you must read what's come before in order to read this book.

*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.*

Indepedent reviewer for GRR, I was gifted the audio version of this book.

This is book 3 in the Tentacular Tales series, and it cannot be read/listened to as s stand alone. Much is not recapped, and you need to know what's happened before! And, you know, these are awesome!

River and Kai are planning their wedding, while dodging an assassin sent by River's mother's family, his alien family.

Here's the thing. I freaking LOVE these books. More so since I switched from reading to LISTENING. I know narrators can only do their best with the material they are given to work with, but Archer nails this freaking series, and then Boudreaux comes along and double nails it and I cannot stress how much I freaking loved it!

There is much going on: the wedding, the assassin, the new rec centre for River's new operation. I loved the names he gives these things! And we meet a few new aliens, with various super powers. The supporting cast is massive and gets bigger every book and I love them all!

There is another plot twist right at the end an I love these coming out of nowhere!

Greg Boudreaux, as I said, absolutely nails the narrations. His voices for all the characters are consistant across all the books, and I love the enthusiam he gets across in River and his excitement!

And, now, I'm left thinking about Capt Starblade and Lord Vardarx (I dunno if it's spelt like that, I'm listening!) and how they came to meet, originally! I want that story too!

I could go on and on, but I'll wrap up with this:

I freaking love these, and please keep em coming!

5 stars for the book and 5 stars for the narration, obviously!

Galactic Gods! What a plot twist!

I am absolutely enamored by this series. I fell head over heels for River and Kai and haven't looked back. This is a series that I can see myself reading over and over. It has everything I could want. A phenomenal cast of characters, loads of pop culture references, it's action-packed and is chock full of the feels. Every time I finish one, I immediately want the next. I'm dying to know how their story plays out but I also don't ever want it to end.

This one is full of action as River and Kai try to evade the assassin sent by River's family to kill him. Let's just say that the whole gang gets involved and it's fabulous. Lots of surprises too. Some good, some not so good. And one that will knock your socks off! But even when Ms. Archer shocks the pants off me, I still want more.

River is still his utterly adorable and totally badass self. And Kai is...*sigh*...amazing. Kai's feelings and vulnerabilities were on display more in this one and I loved that. He's more guarded then River and when he lets those feelings come out, it just makes me love him all the more.

Never fear, Captain Starblade and Lord Vardox are still around. As are the super fans and River's growing group of friends. I, for one, am most excited to see more of Benji and Mal. I think there's an incredible story brewing there.

I really hope we don't have to wait long for Book 4!

This series is so over the top fantastic. Disclaimer - you have to read the first two books in this series, or you will be so, so lost. The worldbuilding in this book and the series is over the top fabulous. I love that extra-terrestrials have come to earth and made their home base near Las Vegas. I mean where else can you create such a brilliant back drop for all of River and Kai's love, trials and tribulations. If you are fan of pop culture, this is also the book for you. It's just brilliant. I can't even say enough about all the extremely well written and over the top the main characters and side characters are in this book. I admit that I want to be Ellie - Kai's mom and River's mama-in-law. But it's not just her Chloe has managed to create depths to each and every character, that makes you want to love em or kill em. You should also "hold onto your butts" as there are some major plot twists in this one. Chloe is definitely not a formulaic author - which for the record I love. She has managed to not only write a main story, but also managed to incorporate a space opera serial with the fictional characters of Lord Vardox and Captain Starblade. Those two can give River and Kai a run for their money in the hot sexy times to be had with tentacles and other appendages. I enthusiastically recommend this book and series. Run people don't walk to your favorite book purchasing site and grab up River and Kai's story. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Fans of humor, sci-fi, and a long series following one couple and their group of friends, you should definitely give this series a try. Start with the first book, as things continue across the series, and you wouldn't want to start with this book.

The chaotic humor reminds me a bit of Alice Winters, but possibly even a bit more over the top?
River definitely channels that same chaotic energy that Leland brings to the table LOL.

There are some great moments between River and Kai, and some sweet moments with Kai's parents and family. I love how his family welcomes River as part of their family so easily. This story also makes me desperate for a full story for Benji and Mal, and honestly I want to read the story that River is writing, because little snippets are no longer enough!

There are also some shocking moments along the way, things I won't spoil, but I wasn't expecting. And I'm SO curious about how all the mating ceremony things will go, all the REDACTED bits have me so curious! Lol

Fans of this series will love the new installment. I definitely look forward to more with River, Kai, their families, and their crazy shenanigans!

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
