Lilly : The last thing I ever expected was being kidnapped during a one-night stand by hitmen who were there for my date. The last thing I ever wanted was to be attracted to the two walking red flags who call themselves Tarot Fate. These stepbrothers are known for being ruthless. I was doing fine on my own, but these men decided that I was their fate, and I can’t fight it. Worst part is, I don’t think I want to. Adrian & Christos: We never leave witnesses after completing a job. We simply pull the tarot card of their fate, end them, and call it a day. Until her. Little did we know, this sassy, strong woman would have a thing for revenge, just like us. What we never expected to happen, happened. There's one tarot card that has never revealed itself before. The one that would change everything. She would change everything. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tarot Fates is a dark romance novel that is only suitable for readers 18+. It was alright. MFM insta-love with serial killers who decide their victim's death by tarot. I liked the idea. The execution was okay. A little kidnapping and then all in. M/M with a stepbrother romance thing going. FMC has background trauma from her father and ex. Ends as all revenge stories do.

I am a sucker for the classic “abused girl falls in love with ‘monsters’ who then help her seek revenge on her abuser/s” and this was done pretty damn well. Adrian and Christos are ex-stepbrother hitmen who use tarot cards to decide their target’s fate. Lilly was just in the wrong place at the right time and gets taken alongside her date and then the boys draw The Lovers card for her so they have to keep her.
I definitely enjoyed Serial Asylum more but this is a fun addition to the series and I think many fans of dark romance will like it.
I’m wondering if MMF is just not for me because I wanted a whole lot more of Adrian and Christos than what we got. I also didn’t fully understand the dad’s character or motivations, there might be a plot hole there but it ultimately didn’t matter or really affect my enjoyment much.
I received an advanced copy for review - all opinions are my own.
Tarot Fates by MP Bates is a dark MMF romance novella that I listened to on audio narrated by Richard Pendragon. This is the second book in the Killer Boys series and can be read as a standalone.
This is the second book of MP Bates that I have read, and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed the instant connection between Adrian, Christos, and Lilly. I loved getting all of their points of views throughout the book.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Carnal Carnival to be released on October 31, 2023.
Ricard did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of his work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, hitmen romances, insta-love romances, erotic romances, or romantic suspense.
I thought this was a blast to read. It was delightful. The fmc is sassy & there’s good banter. The dynamic between the 3 characters is believable & so hot!! It was a super fun concept & I look forward to reading more by MP in the future!
Ps I loved the narrator for the audiobook. I really think that enhanced the experience so much more! They do an amazing job voicing all 3 characters.
Loved this book. 2 things I absolutely love is reading and tarot. I love the spin that was put on them. The connection between Wynn, Christos and Adrian is amazing. The background story will all of them was heartbreaking but it what made there connection so much better. I love when a woman that is the main character takes charge and doesn’t take shit from nobody.
I was entertained while reading this. The sass. The banter. The spice scenes, oh myyyyyy
I gave it 4 stars because I felt like the story -plot was a bit choppy. Maybe a bit rushed? I feel like if there was more of a story with the guys it would make this more enjoyable. But over all i enjoyed this read.
I received an arc copy in exchange of my honest review.
I love a dark romance. A gory, psychopathic, murdery, hot, sexy, romance is my favorite. Pair it with the stepbrother trope, and I am melting like that carton of forgotten ice cream left on the counter. Tarot Fates was everything I wanted and more. This is how I need all my dark MMF romances to be written. This new installment to the Killer Boys series is utter perfection. I am eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the series. Before reading, make sure to check your cw. Adrian & Christos are stepbrothers who are hitmen. They are known on the streets as the Tarot Fate. They use the tarot cards to decide the fate of the person they are unliving. One night on a job, they come across Lilly. Lilly is a very unsatisfying one night stand with their target. They kidnap Lilly along with the target because they do not leave witnesses. When the boys go to pull Lilly's tarot card, a card shoes itself for the first time; obliterating everything in Lilly, Adrian, and Christos' world. They will have to submit to this new world or die without it and each other. Despite their dark hobbies, Adrian & Christos connection within these two boys. It has been since their teenage years. All it needed was Lilly for the bond to ignite into a metaphysical one. Lilly; the perfect fmc. I love all three of these main characters. They are all exquisitely written, and I fell for all of them. This was a perfect sorcery of a relationship, and I loved it. I am not going to spoil it for you with details. Read the book for that. I reccomend that. It's best to go in blind without the details; except for this. Know this: Lilly, Adrian & Christos are hot as hell together. They are the rush from eating too much sugar-coated candy, and they are silky like the fine wine on your tongue. I wish I could have more of them. Honestly, I just love this author's writing and every book is more incredible than the last one.

So far there are way too many inconsistencies for me to overlook.
We start off with (the synopsis, so not a spoiler) with Lily being interrupted mid-coitus & both her & her sex partner being kidnapped by 2 hired killers & this is where the author starts losing me.
We then have Lily musing that this kinda thing (assassins & kidnappings) only happen in books, only for us to learn a chapter later that she's a mafia princess & she herself muses that Adrian & Christos are the type of guys her family hires... so, which is it.. is this completely outside of her sphere or is she wellversed in indiscriminate killings & kidnappings?!? 🤔 make it make sense.
Also, we immediately find out after her musings about being a mafia princess ... AGAIN... WHY was this girl SO shooketh at the beginning?!
If I were her with her background & the fact that she's on the run... my immediate thought when they pop up is that they were hired to kill HER 🤷♀️
& I actually ended up feeling sorry for the poor guy who is the target as it seems that his only crime was that he can't please women even though he DOES try 🤔... so, I'm at a loss as to how he was failing, but that's hardly a good reason to kill someone 🤷♀️
Then the stepbrothers keep mentioning that they're no longer stepbrothers because Adrian's mom is dead, but you don't stop being family after a death & they both call Christos' dad, DAD... 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ you're STILL stepbrothers as your parents got married & one parent died.
Divorce would mean that they're now ex-step-siblings, not death of a parent as the father still raised both the boys after his wife's death... it was nonsensical!
& then we get to what I thought was the most nonsensical part of the story.
We're warned in the synopsis that it's insta-love, which seeing as to love someone is to know them, you can't fall in love at first sight! Insta- attraction, lust, connection, what have you... is more apt, but I digress...
The boys are stepbrothers who have been fighting their mutual attraction for years, suddenly out of the blue they're at it... like WTF just happened 😵😵💫
One minute Christos is thinking (as they've never voiced their feelings to each other) that he must never act on his attraction to his stepbrother & this is AFTER the lover's card has already been pulled... literally TWO minutes later, he's manhandling Adrian & telling him that Lily won't get to taste him first... like, WTAF?! WTF happened in the past 2 minutes to completely change his outlook?! 🤔 make it make sense.
Which to me, is where the author missed out on a golden opportunity of using the FMC as the impetus for both these stepbrothers who have been fighting their feelings for each other for years to finally overcome their reasons not to have been in a relationship previously.
& they go from fighting their mutual attraction to publicly flaunting not only that they're a throuple, but that they're both in a pseudo-incestuous relationship with each other. No ONE offers his fingers in public to be sniffed & sucked in public, at a gala no less, without it being a statement 🤷♀️
Also, the narrator isn't bad, but I'm unable to differentiate between both MMCs as he uses the same voice for both & a too manly voice for the FMC, so I've had to rewind chapters multiple times to understand whose POV it actually is meant to be!
& the most egregious part for me... is that the boy's first time is closed door... W T A F F?!? WHY?! This is their first time WHY am I not privy to what's going on?!
Personally, my reason for reading romances is because I like to witness all the firsts... the first kiss, the first sexual interaction, the relationship progression, etc... making their first time together off-page is practically criminal in a book that advertises itself as a dark romance that contains graphic sexual scenes & so far the only graphic scenes were with the FMC, however we're also told there are MM scenes (which personally, is the only reason I chose to listen as I don't like RHs without MM), yet I'm kept out of the loop of their FIRST time together...
This is where the real consideration to DNF is coming in... I don't want an RH where only the FMC is the focus. I HATE those, they feel so unlikely & unrealistic IMO when you're in a sexual relationship with multiple partners.
Now, we all know the FMC will be out of commission for a week, every month & the MMCs have a readily available partner, but nope, we must wait for the FMC... Fuck that, get it on & let the FMC be the voyeur during those times... infinitely more sexy IMO 🤷♀️
This is an ARC & I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
Just the premise of this book had me all emoji-heart-eyes. Adrian and Christos are hitmen that let a deck of tarot cards decide the fate of their target. AGGGHHH! I love it! I've never read anything with that premise before, so I was all about it.
Unfortunately, poor Lilly was in the wrong place at the wrong time when her boyfriend ends up on the their hitlist. When Lilly's card is drawn, it shocks Adrian and Christos to their core. It's NEVER shown up for them before. The Lovers.
This is where I kind of wavered a bit. I liked Lilly. Really. I just liked her less WITH Adrian and Christos. Yes, she was most things I like in my FMC within a dark romance. She's strong, intelligent and resilient. I just think that the bond between the guys was far stronger than the trio bond.
The spice was pretty hot. It was pretty heavily focused on the trio and not on the guys, so I missed that part a bit. I feel like more of a story between the guys (and spice) would have been so much fun to read.
All in all, this book is definitely a recommend from me. I love this author's writing and can't wait for the next release.
👉🏻💥Always check the TW/CW💥👈🏻
Anywho! Time to wrap this up with the goodies: Read: 4🌟🌟🌟🌟 Spice: 3🌶🌶🌶
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Tropes: MMF, Former stepbrothers, Femdom, Enemy to lovers, insta-lust, Why choose, Mercenary romance
Review: This book is MP Bates’ first step into MMF and MF writing. I thought that the main leads were great for each other but lacked development, I wanted to see more growth in the story.
This book centers around Lily, Adrian and Christos. It is a short and insta-love read that has a lot of great plot twists but leaves you wanting more explanations. Lily is a strong FMC who has met Tarot Fates before and is trying to hide from her father. When she is taken by the Tarot Fates, an instant bond forms and they find the pull hard to resist.
I personally liked Christos the best in this book. However, this book was a little too taboo for me. I enjoyed the banter between the brothers but at times was uncomfortable reading the progression. However, I did like how the book explained their past and their concerns. I liked how the bonds between them were openly discussed and both of them were open about what would happen if it went south.

Review: This is exactly what i needed. If i had the time i would of finished this book within a couple hours truly. I was able to finish it in one day. I LOVED the insta love with this one because it just worked. I havent read many MMF books but i think i need to find some more honestly they are amazing when written well. I have already downloaded the last one in the series ready to read that one.
What an amazing sequel to this series. The books are not connected, but wow, was this story dark and delicious. This was a MMF story about two step brothers who are paid assassins. Upon their lastest kill, they stumble upon Lilly and hold her hostage and decide to keep her as it's their fate. I loved the plot of this book, and it was so different from anything I have ever read. They pick tarot cards to decide the fate of their victim. The characters were fleshed out great and the chemistry between all three was intense 🔥🔥. I loved the dynamics between all three of them as well. The spicy scenes were hot and 💦💦. Seeing the two step brothers realize their feelings for each other and finally get together made me swoon. Lilly was the perfect balance for both of them and together, all three of them were stronger. Seeing her match their darkness was everything I hoped for. I cannot wait for the last book in this series.
Check. The. TW. Prior to reading. MP Bates has done it again! They've perfected the ratio of hot af spice and plot. I was hooked by Serial Asylum so when they started teasing a MMF set in the same series, I jumped without asking questions. Christos and Adrian are step-brothers who are hit men for hire and Lilly is at the wrong place, at the wrong time (or is she?) when they end up going after the man she's hooking up with. Even though they know the drill and know she needs to be taken care of (😏) neither of them can quite pull the trigger.
My favorite part about this book (besides the deliciously morally grey men) was the focus on the MM relationship prior to the MMF taking place and how important it was to establish that first for the characters.
Simply put - I love this book!! It gave me chills and is stuck in my mind.
As dark as this book gets, the love in it is pure. The different dynamics between Lilly, Adrian, and Christos as a couple along with their group is something else. It’s phenomenal and I couldn’t get enough. Their belief in fate only strengthens their bonds. I love the character and relationship development. Because of the deep connection the spice between them is just that much hotter.
The dark side of this book is taken to a new level. How Adrian and Christos use tarot cards to determine fates is creative and well thought out. And the person Lilly becomes 🤐 she’s a bada$$!!
Spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ MM/ MMF/ MF 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⚠️read triggers This is the first book read by this author and I’m blown away. This is amazing dark read of 2 hitmen Adrian & Christos that are stepbrothers and have intense attraction between each others them Lilly is taken after Adrian and Christos kill the man she was spending time with. The chemistry. Between the 3 is strong and 🌶️. The decision that is made on the 💀 are referred to tarot card reading. The alpha don’t want to get Lilly involved with their job and they assist Lilly with her dad as true secrets come out and needs to be taken. The men get everything arranged and work Lilly in their work load and train her. This is a fast pace read that I was hooked on.
AHHHH! Wham Bam THANK YOUUUUUU! So, I absolutely love this book. It is an easy read, but all the right elements are in it. If you love unalivers, with a certain type of code, with a pair that is completely inseparable and HOT as sin (that happen to be stepbrothers) .... Then ADD into that mix a take no shit FMC who has had her own wicked past.... Also THROW in some FATE and a deck of cards... THEN BOOM. This is the perfect book for you. As always - check your triggers and thank your author for some AMAZING spice scenes that make you go "i need a smoke" after reading it. MP did not disappoint with the second book in this series.
As this was my first book by MP Bates, I went in blindly. Tarot Fates is a why choose, mfm romance. It is a darker romance, but not in the mafia vibe. The two MMC’s are hitmen, and some scenes of their job are quite detailed. Tarot cards play a huge role throughout this book, you will have to discover yourself in which way. Both men fall very quickly for our FMC, Lilly, but Lilly isn’t one to give it to them easily. She is quite a feisty woman, won’t let anyone tell her what to do, and she dares to take on a dominant role. And the spice in this book is… hot. I really enjoyed reading this book and looking forward to read more from this author.
I loved this book. From the first page to the end I couldn't get enough of these character's. This is dark and has triggers so you need to check them before venturing in. When I first read the blurb I loved the whole idea of stepbrother's, because yeh who wouldn't 😏Adrian and Christos are hitmen for hire who let tarot cards decide the fates of those that do wrong, but when you throw in a lil minx in the wrong place at the wrong time what are you going to do? You draw her card and what they get shocks them both, because they've never drawn it before, but to Adrian the cards don't lie, and they soon come to realize that she’s what has been missing for a long time...love. This is a insta love, but don't let that stop you from grabbing it up.
Taboo/Stepbrothers/MMF/Unaliving ⠀ MP Bates is a new-to-me author, but after reading the craziness and spice in book one of the Killer Boys series I was more than ready for book two!
I can honestly say this book is unique in the concept of using the tarot cards. I loved it! The story. The growth of the characters. I'm pretty sure our boys from book one were alluded to at the end and now I'm hoping there will be a book three that has more crossover of the characters.
As much as this story is about unaliving, it's also about transformation. I'll definitely keep an eye out for more from MP Bates in the future.
I like this series by author, M.P. Bates. it is dark and sinful. Just how I like my dark romance books to be. I thought this book was a nice balance of MMF. With Adrian & Christos already having an established relationship, it just made the dynamics between them and Lilly that much better.
Each guy had their own moments with Lilly that were hot but when they were all together, it was that much spicer. I really enjoyed how the use of the tarot cards played into the story as well. This book like the first one is a quick read. I can't wait to see what the author comes out with next.
This was my first story from this author and I liked it! This dark romance had spice and intrigue and was just fun to read.
The characters were interesting, and while there was insta-love with the men and Lilly, Christos and Adrian already had a connection before meeting her. The chemistry between them all was hot!
The way the tarot cards were interpreted and used in their line of work was unique. I liked that the one card made them stop and really think before acting.
This story is exciting from the first page and holy shit is it spicy 🌶️ Adrian and Christos are hit men who let tarot cards decide the fate of those who have done wrong. But when a beautiful girl is thrown into the mix the fates spin their world upside down.
The relationship between these two stepbrothers and Lily is just unbelievably twisted, sexy and captivating. There was some triggers for some so definitely read the trigger warning list before reading!
Lily is a total badass but with Adrian and Christos… it’s a triple threat! This is a quick read but a must read!
I love me a fast burn, shorter read. If you aren't a fan of instant love, you may want to pass on this one. This is a dark, MMF romance with a light, but good plot and the perfect amount of spice! M.P. Bates is my go-to for palate cleansing and reading slumps. Their writing style is just perfect for it. I reread Serial Asylum (Killer Boys Book 1) in between other books when I need a little reset and now I will reread this one too! Also, theres a spicy scene index at the end of this book, so you can easily revisit those chapters, whaaaat?! *chef's kiss* Genius.
5⭐️ 5🌶️ Holy hotness 🥵 This book was everything and more. It’s a MMF romance which is one of my favorite reads. I love the possessiveness Christo has over Adrian and Lilly 🫠 I loved Lilly and her take no crap attitude. She was such a strong FMC. This book is full of spice. I loved the intense connection the characters have. This book draws you in from the beginning. It’s definitely a must read!! I couldn’t enough of it.
Another killer (see what i did there!) Book from MP Bates.
The concept of the book was amazing, so original, and the result was phenomenal. I really enjoyed this book. The dynamic between Adrian, Christos, and Lilly was so good. The sexual tension in the beginning was 🤌 and when they all finally gave in it was 🔥 and the fact that Adrian has a praise kink 🙌 I am definitely here for that.
I loved how the boys were actually pretty sweet and swoony underneath their hitman persona, but obviously only for Lilly!!
The writing was absolutely on point. I loved every minute of the book and read it in one sitting.
Abused girl finds herself in the wrong place at the right time! Two killers with a deep attraction they've never though possible to express. But once her fate is decided by their methodic way of choosing ones destiny, there is no letting her go. Instant love and attraction...come on you got to love it, I did. Also these two killers Adrian and Christos help Lilly get some much needed revenge as she also helps them grow in their emotional potential.
