Complacency comes easily when you have been ensconced in evil for over half your life with no visible way to escape.
But when the manager of the exclusive club I "work" at informs me that he has sold me to the man who has tortured me for majority of my memory, it gives me the kick in the ass I need to attempt escape, albeit without a plan.
Chaos seems to follow me like vultures follow carrion, but somehow I manage to meet a few people who make it all worth fighting for.
A nurse nicknamed Ken Kesey, who saves my life from a rattlesnake bite, but more so, from the hospital stay that I am sure will send me straight back into the club’s searching arms.
A drug-dealing, cowboy-hat wearing asshole who loves classic cars and has a soft spot for helping and fixing broken things, as much as he tries to deny it.
An almost silent mortician covered in the worst scars I have ever seen, who relies on music as a grounding mechanism for his broken mind. Until he meets me and I become his obsession.
A goliath who works as a fixer, and seems determined to complete his job to send me back to the club that has destroyed more than just my body.
3 of these men fall into my life and we seem to be inextricably linked to each other from the moment we meet.
I only ever wanted to move forward with my life, and to let the past rot in the boxes of my mind that I have buried as deep as possible.
Unfortunately, nothing that is buried stays buried forever, and the men who have come to stand by my side come face to face with my past and present demons.
But will they be able to save me when the Devil comes to collect what he believes is his due? Or will I be the cause of their demise instead? Will the nightmares of my past ever let me rest?
This is a stand alone reverse harem/why choose romance, where the FMC will have multiple romantic partners and will not need to pick between them.
Kintsugi - It's a Japanese form of fixing something that is broken into something better than the original describes our main characters well. They've all been through more than most people have and have become stronger for the fact. I did want to start off that there are many triggers but they fit the darkness of this book well so please go into this with wide open eyes. I found this book as a recommendation through a group and ended up purchasing it after I was done reading. It is a slow burn but I LOVE how you get to really see and feel everyone individually as well as their connections. It's so hard to do as a reverse harem and this author did it well. Our FMC isn't your typical damsel in distress and I love it!! She is the embodiment of chaos in a single body. She reminds me of a Tasmanian devil. She encounters several characters who embrace her individuality and complement her in different ways. Blood and being a survivor brought them all together. Love let them be a family.
I enjoyed the storyline of the book, but for an RH, the spice level was relatively low with FTB scenes (in case anyone was wondering) it’s also a slowwwwww burn with things not happening until like 70% in. And it’s basically MFM until like 80% in. There’s an ABUNDANCE of random references (pop culture, folklore, gods and goddesses, etc) and one of the MMC only speaks in song lyrics for a good portion of the book. I knew right away who “ashes” was but felt like he was a nice addition to the group, albeit way later in the book.
Overall it was a good story, mildly dark, a little over the top. I will say I did have to push myself through the first like 30% of the book though.
I was hesitant to read this book based on the triggers but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. It is a beautiful story of broken people that find each other, creating their own version of happiness. I won't give away any spoilers but if you're on the fence like me, I definitely encourage you to dive in. I loved Cos and her boys. Songboy, A$$hole, and Phoenix each nurtured a different part of her and the author did an amazing job building the relationships. Even Dr. Ken was the friend, she never had. It was graphic, it was rough, but it was beautiful chaos. So happy Cos got her HEA. They all deserved it!
Why on earth is this book so long? I was already skimming but then at 55% I gave up.
The fmc is probably the most annoying fmc I have ever encountered. First of all, she is running for her life and never tries to make any sort of plan. She is just limping around LA, somehow coming across the same men over and over? causing trouble left and right, literally murdering someone in an alley, leaving bloody fingerprints all over the city and it's never a problem?
Also, not having Ken in the harem is a huge disappointment. I feel like I was led on and then all of a sudden he is going on a date, with a man. Nothing wrong with that, just felt like it came out of nowhere.
This was a fantastic read, seriously so very good! The characters are brilliant, FMC is wonderful and really likeable, the story is just perfect. Lots of triggers for sexual assault though so be mindful. Also it's quite gory, but pure brilliant! Cannot recommend enough. It's a standalone, it would have been good as a duet as the chapters in some cases were very long but I'll definitely read again it was just that good!
This story is an emotional journey. Alice/Cos, Bast, Nix, and Tadgh are all dented, damaged and a little (or a lot) psycho. What they have been through may be very triggering (seriously heed the TWs if you have them) I loved seeing them all find and begin to to relate to each other and create a family. Cos is a mix of sweet and cynical. I also loved the friendship she created, and Kush (can’t forget him :)). Great story - drew me and kept me hooked!
Amazing how is this her first novel. It was everything I wanted and more. I don’t give 5 stars lightly but this was amazing. I love all the men in the story both the love interests and her best friend. She was amazing she went through so much and yet was Ana amazing lovable person with sass. 5 stars!
Wow just wow, came across this book randomly with not a lot of reviews of context of this book but omg you need to read this books! Going in blind was an amazing way to read this. I was so involved with the characters and plot of this book that when I finished it I just sat there for a moment like what do I do now. Hope this author realises more books because I will deffo be reading.
I loved every second of this book and I can’t believe that this is her first book. I read this in a day and could not put it down! I loved how in one book you are able to see the depth of each character and get the epilogue that made it worth it. Having these characters help the fmc pick up her broken pieces while she also helps them through there’s. And anti-heroes that will burn the world for her are the best and these were it to the top 😍 Please continue to write more books and reverse harems that show the reality of PTSD and men that make the fmc their world!!
I really enjoyed this book and the characters in it..The men in this book was so swoon worthy and I like how we got the backstories with each guy to show what made them the men they are now..If you haven't read this you definitely should although it's a bit dark with everything Cos and her men went through its a really great story with a HEA.
I absolutely adored this book! I love that as much as Cos had been through, she still had that fighting spirit where most would have given up. This boom made me laugh so much but also broke my heart at everything they had all been through. Im glad it all worked out in the end. Amazing story!
I'm not easy to sway when it comes to contemporary why choose, but this one grabbed me til the end! Medium burn, mentally (and physically) damaged, morally grey characters with a story ending in the bad guys getting what they deserve, I loved this book and highly recommend!!
Wow this book had alot of darkness and so many twists and turns I couldn't stop reading because I needed to know how it ended. It Definitely didn't disappoint lol that HEA was amazing
I found it difficult to put this story down. I loved all the people in it. They were all broken but still strong. This is a stand alone story. I hope the author has more.
I never really leave reviews but can I just say how incredible this was. I love all of the characters, development, and backstories. Especially Songboy 😍 love me some crazy
Amazing! Best read of the year and I average 220 books a year. The characters were complex, the writing excellent, what more can I say! These characters all have trauma, some more than others and they all need each other to heal. Please read this book!!!!
I absolutely adored this book. The characters are so well written and just all around loveable. The story is dark but the men are the light. Definitely check the tw.
This book had me hooked! I found this suggestion in one of my RH Groups at a time when I was is a huge book slump. It starts out with "Alice" rescuing herself from a S.. trafficking ring/strip club after finding it she has been sold to a monster of a man. And along the way meeting these equally broken men who put each other back together. While trying to keep her safe from the men searching for her. This was a beautiful story of survival and strength and of course love❤
Wow. I can’t believe this was a first book author! It blew my mind. And it was tense and beautiful and I shed tears and laughed. And the best thing? It’s a standalone so we get out hea with no wait.
