A woman is tormented by evil bananas. A man investigates the mystery of his disappearing genitals. A husband and wife fight to save their children from the Easter Bunny. In these wild tales of humor and horror, you'll discover bloody mishaps, anatomical absurdities, and more weird sex than you can shake a dick at. Do you dare explore these odd ordeals?
This one isn't for the squeamish or the weak. Each story here borders on horror and bizarro with reckless abandon. While you may cringe at some of these, there's also a bit of humor that comes out when you least expect it. Odd Ordeals moves swiftly and each story flows seamlessly into the next without giving you a second to catch your breath. O'Dell is a talented writer that writes dark, disturbing fiction that is never boring.
Rounding up from 3.5 stars. Frankly these stories are just not my thing. I failed to get the humor from most of the stories. As the author says in the beginning, the stories are about "dicks and masturbation". These stories are a combination of horror and penises run amok.
Axe wielding bananas singing peanut butter jelly time, a barnacle that wants to repopulate his planet and so much more of the odd and bizarre horror makes you laugh and a little creepy. The author nots after the stories is nice but got annoying as I progressed farther through the book and the one that made me really feel creeped out was called abortion doctor. Also a tickle me Elmo asking someone to tickle its butt hole was not on my bingo card for books. I spit my drink out. Also my favorite line from this whole collection “The schlong rocketed off his crotch, pierced her forehead, and shot through her skull. It climaxed as it passed through her brain, and what sprayed out the back of her head was a mixture of blood and splooge.” It definitely painted a very vivid picture of ick. And we can’t forget corn smut lol. This was a good read and quick but I’m still asking myself why I thought it was a good idea because I did have to take breaks at times because some of the stories are really out there.
To call this book bizarre is putting it lightly. I went in completely blind and laughed my butt off. I think I said wtf enough times to make it the book that I recommend everyone read at least once. Funny quick stories and the author's notes throughout was the icing on the whole thing.
Now if you read this book go in opened minded. Yes lots of mouth drops and WTH did I just read lol. Now Disclaimer: It does talk about sex a lot especially in weird ways. Sensitive stuff about aborting and rape and etc. my husband was like what are you reading.

This book was absolutely great for what it was! If you have a warped and dark sense of humor, I recommend 100%. I would give warning that this book is not meant for anyone with sensitivities though lol
Ok this was funny in a very disturbing way. The stories were all really fucked up and, as the title says, bizzare. I recommend it to anyone that is not sensetive to things like gore and body horror.
