I did not expect myself to be this invested in this manga after randomly picking it up off the shelf of my library. I immediately reserved every volume of Part 3 not knowing that this series originates from a light novel. I threw the reserved part 3 books in my tote thinking, "these are quite heavier than the part 2 books." Obviously - because part 3 of the manga as a physical copy is not available yet and I had mistakenly reserved the light novels.
Vol. 7 was such an intense shift in mood. The story got dark and more fantastical and I wanted more!!
I had a bratty meltdown as soon as I finished because I loved it so much and I was so upset I did not have part 3 (manga) in my hands. Though the light novels are said to be better, I love seeing fantasy as a graphic novel. Especially with the reveals in this book, I want to really continue in the manga format. I will wait...
Myne truly is blessed. She has a lot of people looking after her and it appears that their motives are pure. To have so many looking out for you is truly a blessing...one I truly have come to appreciate as I continue reading this series. Winter preparations are the big happening in this volume because the attendants and the orphanage has needs. An emergency occurs which has the Head Priest and Myne on emergency duties. The volume reads quickly but is very intense. Some people truly make sure that classes are understood noble's vs commoners. This was a gut reality check that all is not always good but man...it hit hard. What a volume!
Myne's life is threatened as she performs her duties as a Blue Shrine maiden.
This is the first volume where there is a very real and violent possibility of something happening to Myne (other than her possibly dying of the Devouring) and it was shocking. Of course, there's also 'we're going to learn to make book glue' and 'we're buying winter clothing' to balance it out with coziness.
I guess this was a pretty exciting episode - Myne is sent out on her first mission as a shrine maiden, but - but it's not what I'm reading this series for. Get Myne back to her books!!!
Winter prep is underway and Myne is overseeing everything for the orphanage, including winter clothes for her attendants as well as her new ceremonial robes. But the fun comes to a screeching halt when she and the Head Priest are the only ones available for an emergency with potentially deadly consequences.
And this is where we get to grin as Myne gains a new father figure. She's got Home Dad, Shop Dad, and now Temple Dad.
