Since sophomore year, Lee Charles has had a crush on the star of the basketball team and the most popular boy in Avery Row High School, Darren Jensen. When Lee and Darren get paired together on an English project during their junior year, they immediately become friends. After a misunderstanding that almost threatens their friendship, they begin dating each other secretly. Soon Lee and Darren fall head over heels in love with each other and form an unbreakable bond.

Then, Darren unexpectedly breaks things off with Lee during their senior year to live a heterosexual life. Leaving Lee devastated. Darren begins dating the prettiest and most popular girl in the school, Brenda Harris. Seeing them together has Lee heartbroken over losing his true love, and he doesn’t think he will ever get over Darren.

Thirteen years later, Lee still has strong feelings for Darren. When Lee’s best friend, Jamel Hayes, informs him that Darren wants to talk to him at the high school reunion, Lee is elated and confused. Lee wonders what Darren intends to speak to him about. When Lee sees Darren with his wife, Brenda, at the reunion, Darren acts like he doesn’t know him. Heartbroken by how Darren is treating him. Lee leaves the reunion, vowing to get Darren out of his system once and for all. But all is not what it seems when Darren shows up after the reunion at Lee’s front door.

Good Read, but....

The story line is the same, just from a more current period in time, but it goes back to previous manuscript too much. Felt like I was reading the book twice. Hope the third novel is better.
