I read this with my seven year old. So many leveled readers contain some phonetic words but throw in a lot of more unknown vocabulary that follow no phonetic rules. This book series does an excellent job of building on learned phonic cues and uses decodable words. Plus, the stories are actually interesting while still maintaining the ability to be easily followed for emerging readers. This is the perfect step up from “Bob” and other similar CVC level books.
